After 25 years in the industry, Natalie Bassingthwaighte has plenty to talk about - including what to expect when she takes the stage at an upcoming tribute concert honouring the late George Michael; getting frank about ageing in the spotlight and the judgement that women receive for undergoing cosmetic procedures; and how she really felt when she found out that Neighbours was returning after she joined some of Ramsay Street's other most famous residents for its short-lived farewell. There's also her recent separation from her husband, Cameron McGlinchey, with whom she shares two children. In this wide-ranging and at times highly emotional episode of Something To Talk About, she speaks about that publicly for the first time and also reveals she is in a new relationship that “makes my heart smile.” George Michael: Freedom! This melodic guest mix from the multi-faceted WISER comes with a sweet story ahead of her next performance supporting Kölsch, Cristoph and Korolova at The Bowl Sunday Feb 5th: "Four years ago, I hadn't been playing music for very long, or taking it seriously - until I saw that Kölsch was performing at the old XE54 venue, for Thick as Thieves. I had been going to their parties for years, and couldn't imagine a better crew to play for - and the beauty & warmth of Kölsch had always stood out to me. Nervously, I prepared a special mix, in the hopes I could perhaps play the warm up set for the event, and to my surprise - it worked! To think that I will now be doing the same, but on the biggest stage in Melbourne, is almost unbelievable - you can do anything you put your mind to! So here it is, my secret set - made with love. “ WISER will be performing at Sidney Myer Music Bowl for Piknic Electronik Sunday Feb 5th alongside Kölsch, Korolova, Cristoph & Boogs. Third round tickets are moving fast!

Jordon Steele-John is a disability and youth activist and has been a Greens senator for Western Australia since 2017, when he replaced Scott Ludlam in the Senate at just 23 years old. He explains why he's in parliament, his disappointment in the ALP, what being a socialist means to him, empowering young people, the fight for "ecological democracy" and the good and bad of the NDIS and the ongoing Royal Commission into the abuse and neglect of people with disabilities. Dr. Evan Smith is a historian and academic who's extensively researched the history of the Far Left in Australia and the UK. Last year he released his book No Platforming: A History of Anti-Fascism, Universities and the Limits of Free Speech. I reached out to Evan last month after the whackiness of the storming of the US Capitol and Trump's removal from Twitter. We only managed to find some time recently for a chat, but this is clearly still a relevant conversation (as Trump is formally acquitted by the Senate in his impeachment trial). Doug Cameron is a former AMWU trade unionist who served as a Labor senator from 2008 to 2019. He's now retired to Hobart, but still regularly tweets out exactly what he thinks about Australian politics and the state of the ALP. After a week of leadership speculation, a shadow cabinet reshuffle and a lot of chatter about how progressive people should just shut up and vote Labor no matter what, I found it refreshing to talk to an old-school class warrior like Doug who articulates bold, socialist politics. Since Piknic Electronik's inagrual year in 2015 Jacob has had the privilege to play a range of amazing sets for the festival. This year it was a big tick off his bucket list to play on the main stage of the Sidney Myer Music Bowl for the beloved Thick As Thieves family. Hope you enjoy the 90 mins of music he played on the day
In the true spirit of globalisation the gang go and see Henry the V by Shakespeare, presented by London's The Globe Theatre in a POP UP staffed by Kiwi actors, down at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Our second show this month is the new(ish) Australian play by Sandra Fiona Long - Birdcage Thursdays. A tender exploration about ageing parents, mental illness and social stigma.
Nick and Ash discuss the past couple of weeks in news, especially focusing on recent incidents such as the mutliple reported hospitalisations following Electric Parade at Sidney Myer Music Bowl, reported to be related to GHB, GBL or 1-4B.INTERVIEWMeriana Dinkova is a licensed marriage and family therapist from California who also works with people on navigating altered spaces. Meriana chats with Nick about common problems people run into and the tendency for 'virusware' to infect our thought patterns and lead us astray. VICTORIAN INQUIRY INTO DRUG LAW REFORMSubmissions due Friday 17th March 2017We’ve been talking about this inquiry since November 2015, when the Australian Sex Party’s Fiona Patten MP pushed for a broad ranging inquiry into the state’s drug laws. Inquiries like this are conducted to give you, the citizen, a chance to comment on legislative issues. It is also a chance for academics and professional organisations to provide their expertise to often complex issues, with the goal of creating better policy outcomes in the future.Making a submission doesn’t have to be hard or complex. If you’re reading this and don’t know what you could add, remember that every voice counts, even if you only have something minor to add. Many people make one page submissions to inquiry focusing only on their personal knowledge. These submissions are an important part of the overall process as they add a level of common realism to the discussion, which is often lacking, especially when the right-wing tabloid media (grumble, grumble, Herald Sun, Channel 7 News) try to define and direct the discussion and propose their own legislative outcomes.Visit the Enpsychedelia website for an outline on a few issues that we have been covering since the show began on 3CR in 2015. MAKE YOUR VOICE COUNT!PSYCHEDELIC SOCIETY FEBRUARY EVENTMUSICKalacoma - KaleidoscoperKalacoma are a five piece trip-hop/electronica band writing music which draws on their love of vintage tone and the avant-garde. By fusing electronic and acoustic elements, they layer intricate rhythms and filmic soundscapes with soaring melodic vocals, weaving diverse influences into something hard to pin down but seamless in its execution.Temple Step ProjectTemple Step Project’s intention is to bring the vibration of sacred ceremony to the dance floor via sacred bass music. Dubstep and Glitch Hop meets Middle Eastern and Shamanic, Spiritual Music. Stomping beats and whomping bass meet acoustic instrumental melodies, chants and overtones. Progressive synthesizers merge seamlessly with flutes, violins and oud. The Temple Step Project brings a unique blend of future tech music with an uplifting and healing vibration, a sense of the sacred and a depth like nothing before it.
