Phil Wickham and Kristian Stanfill drop into the WTG studio to chat with Sadie and Christian on their Singalong Tour stop in Monroe, LA. Phil shares the most surprising way "This Is Amazing Grace" came to be and he has encouragement for anyone struggling with "Is he the one?" questions. Kristian talks about his start in leading worship. Phil talks about a heavenly moment he had with God and what changed for him as a result. Sadie and Christian ask them about moments of doubt they've had leading and singing on-stage and Phil and Kristian both talk about how they stay accountable with confessing and speaking out the stuff that's a struggle for them. Even as the opposition against the apostle Paul increased, Paul did not shy away from the ministry he was called to. One evening while Paul taught long into the night, a man named Eutychus fell from a window and died. The apostle Paul miraculously raises Eutychus from the dead and continues on with his ministry. We need be reminded that though opposition may increase, the power of God is always stronger still. 1. A love for the church (vs. 1-3a)2. A desire to help (vs. 3b-6)3. The power of God (vs. 7-12)4. Jesus' trial before the Jewish Sanhedrin was a gross miscarriage of justice. Wrongly convicted of blasphemy, he is condemned to death and handed over to the Romans. Jesus, the Son of God, is abandoned by those closest to him, rejected by his people, and brutally scourged and mocked at the hands of those he created. All this he endured because of his great love for us and desire to reconcile us to our father.1. The “trial” (vs. 53-65)2. The denial (vs. 66-72)3. The sentence (15:1-15)4. Jesus first came for the Jewish people, but he envisioned a day when the gospel would be spread to all nations (Mark 13:10). In this starting passage, we see Jesus respond to the faith of a Gentile woman and in doing so, recognize that we too can be saved. 1. A short break (v. 24)2. An outsider asks for help (vs. 25-26)3. Jesus' response – “Not yet” (v. 27)4. The outsider understands – Faith & Humility (v. 28)5. The prophet Elijah was despondent. He had just seen God move in power, but his life is threatened instead of responding in faith, he immediately flees – essentially quitting the ministry. Elijah runs to the same mountain where God appeared to Moses and hopes for God to show up in a great display of power again. God shows up. But in ways that are both undeserving and unexpected. God tells Elijah; I am working a plan that you can't even see yet, you are not alone, live out your hope and trust in me! After the craziness of Christmas comes a new year. Some see it as a chance to start fresh, write new resolutions and goals. Others can see it as a continuation of an already hard season. When we enter a season where our faith in God does not come easily, it's important to know where to look to be reminded of the goodness and faithfulness of God. That place may not always be forward. Sometimes we need to look back at what the Lord has already done.1. The Loss of Faith (vs. 1-4)Getting to a place where you can move into the unknown2. The Words of the Wise (vs 5-9)Regaining perspective when facing hard things3. Unity is something we long for but often fail to achieve. In Philippians 2, Paul demonstrates how unity is achieved through serving one another. He then points to the ultimate example, Jesus Christ.1. Unity through Humility (vs. 1-4)2. Guest Pastor Steve Thompson continues the Lenten sermon series "Recover" with "Reconsider". To fully appreciate the joy of Easter, we need to reconsider the SUFFERING of Jesus (Hebrews 12:1-3). We need to reconsider the world's desire to GET RID of Jesus (Luke 23:21). We need to reconsider the SKEPTICISM with regard to Jesus (Luke 23:35), we need to reconsider how we may DENY Jesus (Luke 22:56-60), and we need to reconsider our SILENCE, the easiest way to hurt Jesus. Featuring Praise Band music "The Lion and the Lamb", "This Is Amazing Grace", "I Am", and "No Longer Slaves", along with special music by Melinda Hayes, Patty Garrett, and Robert Schreiner "In Christ Alone", and "Lord, Have Mercy" by the Victory Choir.
While God had clearly revealed to Moses his plan and the opposition he would encounter, when it all began to happen, Moses' confidence began to weaken and doubt set in. We must remember that though God sends us, we are not told that the journey would be free of difficulty, and we cannot let the presence of opposition discourage us in our task. 1. There is perhaps no greater example in the Bible of the message in Proverbs 16:18 (“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”) than when a seemingly trivial sleepless night begins the downfall of the evil Haman. As a result of Esther's impassioned plea, Haman's evil plans are turned against him, his enemy Mordecai is exalted to his position and prominence, and the Jewish people are given right to defend themselves. 1. A sleepless night (vs. 6:1-14) 2. A plot revealed (vs. 7:1-8:2) 3. An impassioned plea (vs. 8:3-6) 4. Like Saul, our conversions should have a dramatic impact on our lives – proclaiming the gospel and growing in our faith are not simply hallmarks of Saul's life, but should be true of each of us.1. Living in an age of seemingly unprecedented relativism, we must at times unapologetically point to the truth and call for repentance. Though to do so may come at great cost to us.1.
