After a short hiatus, we're back and taking a look at the second film in the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy, Hot Fuzz. Currently sitting at a 7.8 on IMDb and a 4.1 on Letterboxd, Hot Fuzz by Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost is a love letter to the classic buddy cop films with references aplenty. In this week's episode, we celebrate Cameron who welcomed his first child, Ben experiences Hot Fuzz for the first time, and we have the return of the trivia quiz led by Dylan. Simon Pegg is an actor and screenwriter who became a household name after appearing in two of Hollywood's most successful film franchises – Mission: Impossible and Star Trek. He also won many fans for co-creating the so-called Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy of films – Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and the World's End. Simon was born in Gloucester and studied theatre, film and television at the University of Bristol. As a student he started performing stand-up routines with his pet goldfish called Roger who was a Marxist poet – albeit a silent one. Simon first appeared on television in the mid-1990s and made a name for himself by co-creating the sitcom Spaced with the actor Jessica Hynes and the director Edgar Wright. He is one of the few performers to have achieved what Radio Times calls the “Holy Grail of Nerdom” – playing roles in Doctor Who, Star Trek – as Montgomery ‘Scotty' Scott – and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He also co-wrote the screenplay for Star Trek Beyond. In 2006 Simon played the British technician Benji Dunn in Mission: Impossible III and has appeared in every Mission: Impossible film since. He is currently filming the eighth instalment alongside Tom Cruise. Simon lives in Hertfordshire with his wife Maureen, daughter Tilly and their dogs. Director Edgar Wright followed his work on the TV series Spaced with his 2004 “Zom-Rom-Com” movie, which would retroactively become the first installment of the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy. Reuniting Spaced stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as two slacker housemates faces with a zombie apocalypse, the film was cult hit and launched the careers of international Wright, Pegg, Frost. As Legends of Halloween shambles along, we're heading to the Winchester to have a nice cold pint and wait for all of this to blow over while we watch Shaun of the Dead. In 2013, director Edgar Wright concluded his Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy, all co-written with Simon Pegg, produced by Nira Park, and starring Pegg and Nick Frost. Alternatively called the Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy, the first two films, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, riffed on zombie movies and the buddy cop genre. For the final entry in the trilogy, Wright and Pegg tackled sci-fi alien invasion flicks like Invasion of the Body Snatchers with a film centered on five high school mates reuniting for a pub crawl in their hometown. Also featuring Paddy Considine, Martin Freeman, Eddie Marsan, Rosamund Pike, and Pierce Brosnan, the film wraps up the trilogy's themes of individualism vs. the collective and the dangers of perpetual adolescence. Now we're bending our elbows and crossing over with Westworld Weekly to follow the boys from their first sip all the way to The World's End. But in the sober light of day, is this movie good to the last drop? For more geeky podcasts visit GonnaGeek.com You can find us on iTunes under ''Legends Podcast''. The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy.

Three Cornetto flavors, three films, three men...the combo is one delicious trilogy packed with wit and tons of laughter. "Shaun of the Dead," "Hot Fuzz" and "The World's End" combine comedy with their unique genres as only Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost can. Chris and Taylor grab a pint to discuss the trilogy, the hilarious tropes, the social commentary and why these films have become fan favorites.

Tiga film karya Edgar Wright yang semuanya diperankan oleh Simon Pegg dan Nick Frost ini sebenarnya tidak memiliki hubungan cerita sama sekali. Tapi kenapa rangkaian ketiganya mendapatkan julukan The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy?
We’re more-or-less family-friendly, but we don’t always watch family-friendly movies. In this episode, we discuss three such films, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End, the R-rated Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy from Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Edgar Wright. Is anyone going down to the shop? —February 2016
In a week filled with zombies dancing to Queen, villagers being killed by their chapels, and aliens having drinks at the bar, Andrew and Apoorva discuss the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy, a very dry (and very British) series of films helmed by Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost. Legends Podcast is cracking open the cinematic vault and bringing you a whole month of cons, capers, and car chases! Whether you’re a grifter, a hacker, a freelance spy, a bank robber, or a wheelman, you’ll find the big score right here on our podcast. This is Aug-Heist! This week we’re talking about Baby Driver from 2017. This film marked the first big-screen outing for director Edgar Wright after he wrapped up his Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy, and Baby Driver tells the story of the titular reluctant wheelman, Baby, who is actually a grown-up. The odd title didn’t confuse audiences, however, as the summer release turned out to be Wright’s biggest box-office success ever. Showcasing thrilling car chases choreographed to a peppy pop-rock soundtrack, Baby Driver scored with moviegoers, but will it score with the three flavors of podcast host as we judge the final installment of Aug-Heist 2018? Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! These discussions will be spoiler filled and may explicit language, so consider yourself warned. Shaun Of The Dead came out in 2004. Hot Fuzz came out in 2007. The World's End came out 2013. Now... it's all over. With The World's End out on Blu-ray and DVD, Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright enjoyed a weekend of Q&As and signing sessions, but somehow still found the time to talk to the Empire Podcast for 75 minutes for the definitive Cornetto Trilogy discussion.
Hellllllloooooooooo! Welcome to episode #100 of The Next Reel, everybody! And what a better way to celebrate than to finish the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy series that we started in March 2012 with our episode on Edgar Wright's latest film, "The World's End." Another genre film filled with poignant character moments, riotous moments of comedy, fantastic writing from beginning to end, and solid and assured direction, Wright finishes off this pseudo trilogy (that he started with "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz") with a film that actually does help tie all three films together thematically while still remaining its own complete film. Join us — Pete Wright and Andy Nelson — as we delve into the frothy tale of five guys revisiting (or to some extent reliving) their past as they try to finish a 12-pub crawl they never completed before only to have it rudely interrupted by alien invaders. We talk about Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost and what these gents have brought to the table in each of these 3 films, and why this film is such a treat to see because of the reversal in character types for Pegg and Frost. We discuss the rest of the actors, both familiar from Wright's other work and new to it, and what they bring to the table. We chat about the great stunt choreography and how that pairs with the fantastic cinematography to create some of the most invigorating fight scenes in a while. We go into the themes of the film and how the nature of nostalgia can affect a person negatively and how we, as people, need to keep moving forward. And we quote some of the great lines from the fantastic script by Wright and Pegg. It's a blast of a film, even if the tonal shift and disagreeable protagonist may keep some people from fully falling for it as we both clearly did. We have a great time talking about it (and thoroughly spoiling it) so go watch it and tune in! Hey! You know what would be awesome? If you would drop us a positive rating on iTunes! If you like what we’re doing here on TNR, it really is the best way to make sure that this show appears when others search for it, plus, it’s just a nice thing to do. Thanks!! Helllooooooo! Tonight, we're talking "Hot Fuzz", the perfect comedy homage to every cop action film ever made! The second and last film made thus far in the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy, this film was again written by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, directed by Wright and starring Pegg. Join us as we talk about the fantastic filmmaking style that Wright brings to this film, particularly the ever-so-perfect Tony Scott-style series of shots, which we aptly name the "Jiggly Monkey". We also faun over the stellar cast, particularly the Daltonator in all his 'stache glory. We chat about the intense over-the-top violence and how it works in the film. We discuss the nature of parody or spoof films vs. homage films, and we rattle off all the cliches that this film employs so perfectly. It's an action film that features the shortest car chase in film history, a cuddly monkey and a Japanese Peace Lily, with a bit of impaling thrown in for good measure. Listen in! And by the way, did you know that NASA named the Japanese Peace Lily one of the top 10 air cleaning plants? Good to know.

Hellooooooo! Time for a break from all those heavy films, movie fans. Tonight, join Pete and Andy as we discuss the first of the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy (despite the fact that there are only two films thus far). Yes, we're going to be chatting about Edgar Wright's hilarious ode to zombie cinema, "Shaun of the Dead," a film he co-wrote with star Simon Pegg. It's a hilarious film that also works wonderfully as an homage to every zombie convention you can imagine. We talk about why it works so well, how it came to be, the hilarious cast (particularly our fave Bill Nighy), British manners, Edgar Wright's filmmaking style, and the endlessly quotable lines. And yes, we quote them. Endlessly. Join us for a laugh. Now how's that for a slice of fried gold? Yeeeee-aaahh, bo-iiieeee!
