On this episode I'm joined by Lucy Davis, my co-founder at Factory, as we unpack the messy reality of AI in commerce – beyond the hype and into the hard questions. We get into whether traditional discovery processes still matter when AI can simulate, generate, and iterate at speed. Are briefs still useful? Is AI discovery even a thing? Or is it just a shiny wrapper on what strategy teams already do?We talk about sustainability in AI, how brands like L'Oréal are experimenting with Nvidia to create more personalised beauty experiences, and why so much of what's sold as intelligent automation is still smoke and mirrors. You'll hear why smaller brands might actually be better placed to move fast, where AI is helping with internal efficiencies, and when it's just adding noise. If you've ever found yourself wondering whether an AI tool is a real unlock or just a pitch deck promise, this one's for you. This podcast is brought to you by our friends at Omnisend. Free giveaway https://www.paulieskaja.com/opt-in1 In this episode of Live Into Your Best Life, I sit down with Lucy Davis, an accomplished entrepreneur and contractor with over 20 years of experience in residential and commercial property management. Lucy has built a thriving career in the construction industry—specializing in roofs, siding, windows, gutters, and solar shingles—all while breaking barriers in a traditionally male-dominated field. Lucy's story is one of resilience, adaptability, and unwavering determination. After losing her husband in 2023, she not only took on the responsibility of running her business but also dedicated herself to guiding her four children into the world of entrepreneurship. She shares how she is instilling in them the values of financial responsibility, teamwork, and perseverance by actively involving them in the family business. During our conversation, Lucy opens up about a life-changing moment when she realized her work-life balance had reached an unsustainable level. When her daughter tried to connect with her, but she was too engrossed in work to be present, Lucy knew something had to change. She made the difficult decision to shut down her business to prioritize her family and mental well-being—a move that, while challenging, ultimately led her to a more fulfilling and balanced life. Lucy also reflects on her upbringing, growing up in a family-run cleaning business that started small and grew into a million-dollar company. Her mother, having escaped a cult, built the business from the ground up, teaching Lucy the importance of resilience and entrepreneurship. Now, as a marketing director in the construction industry, Lucy continues to redefine her success while ensuring she maintains the balance she once struggled with. Throughout our discussion, we dive into the power of taking ownership of one's success, navigating career pivots, and making tough decisions that align with our personal values. Lucy's journey is a testament to the importance of adaptability, grit, and building a legacy that extends beyond financial success. Key Takeaways: Success is earned, not given—Lucy teaches her children the value of hard work and financial responsibility. Work-life balance is critical—making tough decisions to prioritize family can lead to greater fulfillment. Resilience is built through challenges—Lucy's journey from personal loss to professional reinvention exemplifies true perseverance. Owning your success means taking action rather than waiting for recognition. Career pivots, even the difficult ones, can open new doors to growth and opportunity. This episode is packed with inspiration, wisdom, and actionable insights for anyone looking to navigate life's challenges with strength and purpose. Tune in and be inspired by Lucy's incredible journey! Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright were on to something. Taking a well-worn subgenre and fusing it with the distinct style they'd perfected on Channel 4's "Spaced," the two concocted a script like no other and produced a cult classic. Twenty years since its premiere, we look at the production and legacy of Wright's breakthrough film with Clark Collis, former Entertainment Weekly reporter and author of You've Got Red On You: How Shaun of the Dead Was Brought to Life. So pack up your Breville and jam toasties, grab a Cornetto and whatever blunt instrument is by the doorway, and join us at the Winchester. Tonight, we're taking out some z-words. A real honour to be joined by athlete, ultra marathon runner and businesswoman - Lucy Davis - on today's episode. I'm so proud and feel very privileged that Lucy felt 9 Lives was a safe enough environment to open up about the impact of competing and participating in multiple endurance sporting events has had on her self esteem over the years. We discuss her life growing up as a swimmer and gymnast as well as her experience recovering from an eating disorder in her early twenties. Lucy is nothing short of extraordinary in her endeavours but her daily anxieties and worries are extremely ordinary. We talked about finding peace among your people, recognising when it's time to pause and how exhausting it can be existing in your masculine energy in so many areas of your life. I hope you can all take something away from this episode that encourages you to be kind to yourself and to relieve the pressure. Love always Cass xx

Joining me on this week's podcast episode is the hybrid athlete and fitness influencer and arguably one of the most impressive people I follow - Lucy Davis. In this episode we chat about her journey in the last 2 years, going from completing her first half marathon, to recently finishing the 350 mile Speed Project race in the US. Before her love of running, Lucy started in the gym helping her become stronger physically and mentally after overcoming an eating disorder. Since then she has established herself as a hybrid athlete and has grown hugely successful online. We go into the deeper meaning of why she is not afraid to be vulnerable, sharing her highs and lows that come with everyday life. Her success online comes with the price of being criticised and trolled about her body and her performance, something that so many can relate to. We delve into what impact that has on her and how she motivates herself to keep going on.

Today I look at the fantastic 2004 zombie comedy film, Shaun of the Dead. Directed by Edgar Wright and written by Wright and Simon Pegg, I am a big fan of this flick. Pegg stars as Shaun, a downtrodden salesman in London who is caught in a zombie apocalypse with his friend Ed (Nick Frost). The film also features Kate Ashfield, Lucy Davis, Dylan Moran, Bill Nighy, and Penelope Wilton. It is the first installment in the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy.

Can't believe it's Halloween time again. On one hand we're thankful because we're now too old for the summer heat. On the other hand another year is almost over and that means we're another year older. That means we have to watch "Shaun of the Dead." Def one of the best zombie movies out there. And it's a comedy. Love it. We pair it with Killibinin Scaredy Cat, a Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz blend from Australia. This is our third foray into Killibinbin, and they have yet to disappoint.Metacritic Score: 76/100Movie Sync Notes: We rent "Shaun of the Dead" on Amazon Prime Video. We start "Shaun on the Dead" 6:25 into the pod, and push play on part two 1:13:25 into the pod.

We talked about so many things from family, music, acting, her Disney role as Hartley in the new Disney Channel series Villains of Valley View plus a whole lot more! The story follows teenage supervillain Havoc who is forced to relocate to a Texas suburb with her family under a new identity as “Amy Madden” after standing up to the League of Villains. Muller-Janssen plays Hartley, Amy's outgoing classmate and neighbor who unknowingly befriends the villainous Madden family. The cast also includes James Patrick Stuart, Lucy Davis, Isabella Pappas just to name a few. The show is set to premiere June 3rd and you can watch the trailer here.A multi-talented performer, Muller-Janssen has also made a name for herself as a talented singer-songwriter with her deeply personal songs about relationships, self-worth, and empowerment . James Patrick Stuart and Lucy Davis recently joined host Elias in the cave for Press Day for the upcoming release of their new Disney Show 'The Villains of Valley View' premiering June 3rd. We enjoyed watching an early release here at the "cave" cant wait for everyone to check it out! “ The Villains of Valley View” - When teenage supervillain Havoc stands up to the head of the League of Villains, her family is forced to change their identities and relocate to a sleepy Texas suburb. With the help of her effervescent new neighbor Hartley, Havoc - going incognito as “Amy” - must somehow hide her superpowers and quell her villainous nature in favor of something she and the rest of her family have fought against all their lives: being normal. Stage trained actress Isabella Pappas (as Havoc/Amy) leads a talented ensemble cast including Lucy Davis ("Chilling Adventures of Sabrina") as Eva/Surge, James Patrick Stuart ("General Hospital") as Vic/Kraniac, Malachi Barton (Disney Channel's "Under Wraps") as Colby/Flashform, Reed Horstmann ("The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia") as Jake/Chaos and newcomer Kayden Muller-Janssen as Hartley. Patricia Belcher ("The Week of") recurs as Celia. “The Villains of Valley View” is created by Chris Peterson and Bryan Moore (“Lab Rats”), who also serve as executive producers and showrunners. Our guest this week is the very funny and very thought-provoking Lucy Davis! Lucy is best known as Dawn from the British TV show The Office, she then went on to star in movies like Shaun of The Dead, Wonder Woman and now lives in LA, having broken America and starring in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. We talked about pivotal moments in Lucy's life which has involved some setbacks including a kidney transplant and recovering from an eating disorder. In our conversation, we talk about disordered eating in some detail so that's something to bear in mind if you're going through it right now. Lucy has really leaned into the spiritual side of her life, which is new ground for this podcast and we talked about positive thinking, healing and gratitude so it's a bit of a different conversation for the last in our series but it really made us think about the power of the mind. The Making Of is hosted by Bea Appleby. The production is brought to you by The Female Lead.
