I was lucky enough to be a dnb raver in Washington DC and Baltimore during the late 1990's and early 2000's. It was only years later that I came to realize how extra special that period was for DC dnb and its own roots and culture. This weeks guest played an integral part in building a lot of that. It's really humbling to share this one with ya'll. Please welcome, R4NS0M. Originally hailing from the storied Washington DC drum & bass scene, Boston's R4NS0M has been at the forefront of the American drum & bass movement since its early days. Over the course of his career, He's performed at legendary events like Buzz, Ultraworld, Resonate, Eklektic, Platinum, Respect, Elements, and Cadence, and crafted mixes for Toronto's iconic Prophecy FM and Winslow's Bad Snares Anonymous. As a producer, he's released music on such labels as Moving Shadow, Ohm Resistance, Soul Deep, Detached Audio, 1 More Thing, WiddFam, and 4 Corners Music, and worked with a number of artists, including Sinthetix, Corrupt Souls, UFO!, Ben Rolo, Fake, Dvalue and Metcalf. With decades of work under his belt, and a decidedly individual take on the drum-n-bass sound, R4NS0M continues to cement one of the more unique legacies in the history of the genre as a creator and pioneer. Straight Outta the Federation along with Ruth and Darrin of RAD Adventures Network discussed Blake's 7's Ultraworld, written by Trevor Hoyle and directed by Vere Lorrimer. In this one the legendary Liberator Crew comes across a quite peculiar celestial body, Ultraworld, which is like a huge computer collecting data across galaxies. The place is anything but friendly. Ultraworld Series C, Episode 10 - First broadcast 10 March 1980 This week on Maximum Power, Simon, Brendan and Rob Valentine teleport down to a mysterious planet that they discover is just one giant computer. Simon wonders at the elegance of the operating system, Brendan has a hankering for a fancy cocktail, and Rob is just hoping no-one realises what a decent, compassionate man he is. Meanwhile, back aboard the Liberator, Mark is teaching dad jokes to his laptop. Join us as we discuss the unjustly maligned Ultraworld. Head-shaving optional, apparently.

In the 8th episode of Darmstadt On Air Alexander Schubert, multimedia composer and tutor of the Darmstadt Summer Course, spoke to the German theater director Susanne Kennedy via Zoom. They both share an interest in digital tools and the artistic potential of virtuality in a performative setting. As the starting point for their discussion, each of them describes one of their recent works: Susanne’s piece “Ultraworld” investigates the human consciousness as a virtual construction and inner simulation of the world. It was premiered at the Berlin Volksbühne in January 2020. Alexander discusses his project “Genesis” where he created a seven-day installation as a real life computer game in which the audience created a virtual world via online interventions. It was shown in April 2020.

Well it’s like, sort of gold looking right? This week we dive into a massive… brain? Well that’s just completely disgusting honestly. I mean good god, have you actually seen a brain? It’s horrifying. Legitimately horrifying. It’s Ultraworld, written by Trevor Hoyle and aired on March 10, 1980. Blake’s 7 © The BBC Any other referencesContinue reading →
Whilst Servelan is busy (air quote) entertaining the troops, Tarrant and Dayna have been hired by the Blue Man Group to make an instructional sex tape for a giant, carnivorous brain that's dressed as a glimmer globe covered in Toblerones. Wanting nothing at all to do with this, Vila lounges about practicing stand-up comedy. But when his efforts send a sleepy Avon and Cally quite literally out of their minds, he decides to jack it all in and join the Federation. So he travels to a far away planet that can't be found where his first job is to pick all the dead mice out of the computer. At least he doesn't have to clean out the fish tank…
The crew of the Liberator encounters the giant space brain/computer, Ultraworld. Will anyone find any intelligent life anywhere in this episode? Ben and Eugene discuss.
Ian and Dave are back to watch two more episodes of Blake's 7. In "Moloch," the Liberator follows Servalan to a mysterious hidden planet where a legion of Federation troops have acquired a new technology and have designs on taking over the Federation. In "Death-Watch," Tarrant's brother acts as a champion in a well-mannered war between empires, which Servalan looks to disrupt for her own purposes. Plus, a Doctor assesses the medical accuracy of "Ultraworld," how has Karma punished Colonel Sanders, and does one feedbacker's powers of prediction mean he should be burnt as a witch?
