Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes wore an interesting pullover to Detroit's pre-draft press conference. Across the front it said: “Support women and girls in sports.” Riley Gaines, the former SEC swim champ who was forced to compete against biological male “Lia” Thomas, took Holmes' hoodie as a statement against the trans sports agenda. Jason doesn't believe that is the case. Holmes was given the shirt by Lindsay Verstegen, the “diversity officer” of the Detroit Lions. “Lindsay lists her pronouns (she/her) in her Twitter bio. Verstegen is a soldier and ally of the Alphabet Mafia. So is Brad Holmes. It's a requirement for elevation within the NFL.” Holmes, like the majority of the woke sports world, has bought into the lie that women's sports don't receive proper “support.” “Feminists have cleverly conflated the words support and interest. America supports women's sports. America supports women. The patriarchy supports women. What feminists want and what they're forcing men to do is pander.” “Fearless” contributors Steve Kim and T.J. Moe join Jason and dive into the conversation. Plus, Shemeka Michelle checks in to discuss the former boy band star who's sparked a controversy by saying women his age come with too much “baggage” — that's why he married someone 19 years his junior. “Don't Dull What Makes You Special.” Lindsay Verstegen  Denise talks to Lindsay Verstegen, Senior VP and Chief Diversity Officer for the Detroit Lions. Prior to joining the world of sports, Lindsay worked in corporate America, scaling companies like ShopRunner, one of the toughest situations she faced professionally at a time when so many businesses were suffering during the pandemic. The experience taught her to muster the courage to show up and write the playbook on the unprecedented.   Lindsay during the time when she doubts herself, she's learned to show herself compassion, and accept that she CAN do. At times she assembles her own personal knights around the table, so to speak, to get advice from those both inside and outsider her immediate circle. She values being authentic because she says it allows others to come of out of their shell.  So, what would she say to her younger self? “Trust the universe my friend. Do the work and it'll pay off.”  ***  Lindsay Verstegen is Chief People and Diversity Officer for the Detroit Lions where she leads the quest to build an open, equitable and transparent organization. Prior to working for the NFL, Lindsay worked for over a decade helping to scale organizations and build winning cultures at Groupon, Braintree, Venmo and ShopRunner. In February of 2021, she was recognized as one of Crain's Chicago Business Notable Leaders in HR. She is also a speaker and guest lectures at the Chicago Booth School of Business and the Kellogg School of Management. She holds a BFA in musical theatre from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. After 18 years in Chicago Lindsay now lives with her family in the Detroit metropolitan area.  Denise Ilitch, an owner of Ilitch Family Companies and President of Ilitch Enterprises, has been a part of Detroit's business and philanthropic community for over 40 years.  As a mother, lawyer, entrepreneur, devoted community servant and tireless advocate for women and children, she learned early, from her father, that everyone is worthy of contributing to the world.  Her passion for affordable, accessible, quality education stems from her own experience as a first-generation student, earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan, where she currently serves on the Board of Regents, and a law degree from the University of Detroit Law School.  FOLLOW DENISE @thedeniseilitchshow  TO LEARN MORE about all our inspiring podcasts visit https://www.lifestough.com/.

Service driven of money driven?

It and it alone is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice! • We do not come together and study our Bibles for the intent of being smarter than others. We understand that knowledge for the sake of knowledge is purely vain and serves no Godly purpose. • We do come together and study our Bibles for the intent of knowing our Lord Jesus Christ and the power of His resurrection. (Philippians 3:10) • We do come together and study our Bibles to understand that we have been crucified with Christ; nevertheless we live; yet not us, but Christ liveth in us: and the life which we now live in the flesh, we live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved us and gave himself for us. (Galatians 2:20) • We do come together and study our Bibles to understand that because Jesus Christ shed His blood for us and we should not live for ourselves but for Him, who died for us and rose again. (2 Cor. 5:15) • We do not claim to have attained to these lofty goals, but we press toward the mark of the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. TEAM: Together Everyone Achieves More. Many of us are familiar with this acronym and from sports teams to the workplace to the family environment most of us can agree that things go easier when a number of people work together to overcome a challenge. One of the most unique things about operating in a team environment is that each person is responsible for a specific function and when everyone works together tremendous things can happen. For years athletes would finish one season and then be left on their own when it comes to the strength and conditioning required to prepare for the next playing season. Some teams would have a strength coach provide off-season workouts but in general, athletes would either rest, do other activities or exercise on their own. In the late 1990s a strength coach named Mark Verstegen brought together a number of experts from the world of performance conditioning to create Athlete’s Performance, a team of experts to cater to all of the needs of athletes as they enter an off-season conditioning cycle. When it comes to the team of performance professionals who support a single athlete, it can include the position coach, the strength coach, speed coach, an athletic trainer, massage therapist and registered dietitian. When Verstegen started Athlete’s Performance, now known as Exos, it was one of the first operations to bring all of those specialties into one facility to help athletes achieve their optimum level of performance.  Sue Falsone was one of the early athletic trainers to work with Verstegen at Athlete’s Performance; she played an integral role in developing the systems that would help produce many of the world’s top athletes. Not only is Sue a well-known athletic trainer who lectures around the world, we recorded this conversation at the Asia Fitness Conference in Bangkok, Thailand, but she was THE FIRST woman to work as an athletic trainer in any of the four major sports leagues when she went to work with the LA Dodgers MLB team. On this episode of All About Fitness, Sue talks about her experience helping establish AP/Exos as the premier training facility in the world as well as what it was like to be the first women in her role with a professional sports team. On this episode of All About Fitness, be prepared for an insightful interview with one of the major groundbreakers in professional sports, Sue Falsone.  To follow Sue Falsone on social media: Instagram: @SueFalsone Twitter: @SueFalsone To learn more about the types of exercise programs that can enhance your quality of life AND slow down the aging process, pick up a copy of: Smarter Workouts: The Science of Exercise Made Simple To see the types of exercises and workouts that can work for you, follow Pete McCall on Instagram: @PeteMcCall_fitness Terra Core One of the most versatile, dynamic fitness platforms that can help you build muscle, improve your strength AND burn calories; check out www.terracorefitness.com and use code AAF to save 25% on the purchase of a Terra Core for your home or facility Follow Terra Core in Instagram: @terracorefitness Learn more about your ad choices. Shana (Martin) Verstegen has many things to be proud of, but her work with the Huntington’s disease Society of America in honor of her mother will always top that list. Shana’s mother passed away from Huntington’s Disease in March of 2013. After growing up watching Debby Martin lose her ability to move independently, Shana strived to live every day to the fullest with a focus on movement – from being the first female pole vaulter at the University of Wisconsin, to winning 6 lumberjack world championship titles. Shana’s professional life involves traveling the country in the fitness industry as a Master Instructor for TRX Training and the American Council on Exercise, personal training, and teaching group exercise. Of course her heart is with fundraising and raising awareness toward finding a cure for Huntington’s Disease. She recently tested negative but will never give up the fight.
