Accede a toda la info en What's new in Gutenberg 17.1 (22 November).

News There have been a lot of people working with the latest 5.9 WordPress release and reporting their successes and failures. Tammie Lister wrote a post about the features in the editor and would like people to quit using the term FSE - Full Site Editing in 2022. The release is not an all-or-nothing proposal yet. Matt Medeiros created a video on the future of page builders with Gutenberg when a discussion on Discord started with Justin Ferriman, a WPMinute producer. Go check out that video to see if you agree with the future of Gutenberg. Anne McCarthy writes about some practical ways to lock your projects for clients and users that can make changes to a WordPress website. The new template locking API  that was released in 5.9 along with newer tools like theme.json continues to be modified to adapt to the user experience.  The WordPress Photo Directory recently hit 1,317 photos and continues to grow. There has been a new Slack Channel created and the team is looking for volunteers and moderators to work on a new site being set up on the make network. The team needs help working through issues in the coming months. So… As we head into the iterative part of Gutenberg's phase 2, there will be changes for the community of users as they continue to look at WordPress. Security PHP Everywhere, a utility for web developers to be able to use PHP code in pages, posts, the sidebar, or anywhere with a WordPress Gutenberg block has Remote Code Execution vulnerabilities. WordFence reported that there are three critical vulnerabilities in PHP Everywhere all leading to remote code execution in versions of the software below 2.0.3. There was a patched version of the plugin rolled out so if you are using this make sure that you are up to date as soon as possible to keep your WordPress site...well up to date. From Our Contributors and Producers Justin Tadlock over at WPTavern wrote a recent article about the Clarity AdBlocker for WordPress. Ads and upsells have been showing up in WordPress dashboards and many in the community have been complaining about it over the past few years. For many that get that exposure through the WordPress dashboard, this announcement was not well-received (to say the least).  If the default full-screen editing mode and welcome guide in WordPress is annoying when you first visit the edit interface, you can jump over to GitHub to grab the drop-in snippet to disable it. Some may say that PHP is dead (or dying). There is a comprehensive article over at Kinsta that per W3Techs, PHP is used by 78.1% or almost 4 out of 5 websites. PHP seems to be very much alive and faster than before when updated to the latest release. You can go check out this article for the latest benchmarks. Welcome to another episode of Mediavine On Air with your host, Jenny Guy.  One of our favorite sayings around here is: Diversify your revenue streams! Now, that might sound odd from a company that provides full service ad management, but our company mission is building sustainable businesses for content creators. And a business relying on only one income stream is just not sustainable.  This interview happened in the Summer of Live 2020 and our guest was the wonderful Katelyn Fagan. She's a blogger at the site What's Up Fagans and an instructor on her Best Blog Courses, where she loves to teach bloggers how to make more money. Katelyn shared some absolute gems for optimizing existing posts to maximize affiliate revenue, the best link type and placement for conversion, Amazon Affiliates and more.  Now, to the earnings! How is everyone doing? Katelyn and I — our guest today just had an awesome experience where she was in black and white. So there was a wrong — she kind of looked like Paranormal Activity, the movie, if you've seen that. But we're all good now, which is awesome. Katelyn is cool as a cucumber. But today is Thursday, June 25th and we are so glad to have you with us and for us to have the opportunity to be with you today for another episode of the Mediavine Summer of Live. We have got quite a few common refrains around these parts for content creators, and one of our most popular ones is diversify your revenue streams. We say it all the time. While Mediavine ad management is our primary offering as a company, we strongly believe — and I will look directly into the camera on this one — that ad revenue should not be your only source of revenue. Please. Affiliate marketing can be a very lucrative part of your blogging business strategy. But it takes some work to be successful Enter today's guest, Katylen Fagan, in color — thank god – and she is here to talk about improving in-post affiliate earnings. I'm going to introduce Katelyn. She is a wife and homeschooling mom of five kids who is currently pregnant with her second set of twins due at the beginning of September. What? We can talk more about that later. She grew up in Wisconsin but currently lives in New York. She graduated from Brigham Young University in 2011. Over the last seven years she's built up a successful blog business while growing her family. That's kind of the understatement. Her website is "What's Up Fagans? which is dedicated to resources for family-focused living. Along with helping families better manage home and life she also loves helping bloggers make more money, especially through affiliate marketing, perfect for today. She and Katie Clark run a free blogging Facebook group and have created several blogging courses for new-to-intermediate bloggers, which can be found at BestBlogCourses.com. And she's got a special offer for you guys today — 10% off of any of those courses, of her courses, with the code SUMMER OF LIVE, all caps. So SUMMER OF LIVE. We'll drop the link n the comments for you guys to go check out. And please visit to learn more. And welcome, Katelyn. Thank you for being amazing and also for handling all of the craziness with aplomb and calm. We appreciate it. KATELYN FAGAN: Yeah. Yeah, thanks for having me on. I'm so excited to share this with you guys because I didn't get to go to Baltimore this year. So yeah.

Tag1 Team Talks | The Tag1 Consulting Podcast

Content collaboration has long been table stakes for content management systems like WordPress and Drupal, but what about real-time peer-to-peer collaboration between editors who need direct interaction to work on their content? The WordPress Gutenberg team has been working with Tag1 Consulting and the community of Yjs, an open-source real-time collaboration framework, to enable collaborative editing on the Gutenberg editor. Currently an experimental feature that is available in a Gutenberg pull request, shared editing in Gutenberg portends an exciting future for editing use cases beyond just textual content. Yjs is both network-agnostic and editor-agnostic, which means it can integrate with a variety of editors like ProseMirror, CodeMirror, Quill, and others. This represents substantial flexibility when it comes to the goals of WordPress to support collaborative editing and the potential for other CMSs like Drupal to begin exploring the prospect of shared editing out of the box. Though challenges remain to enable truly bonafide shared editing off the shelf in WordPress and Drupal installations, Gutenberg is brimming with possibility as the collaboration with Tag1 continues to bear significant fruit. In this Tag1 Team Talks episode that undertakes a technical deep dive into how the WordPress community and Tag1 enabled collaborative editing in the Gutenberg editor, join Kevin Jahns (creator of Yjs and Real-Time Collaboration Systems Lead at Tag1), Michael Meyers (Managing Editor at Tag1), and your host Preston So (Editor in Chief at Tag1 and author of Decoupled Drupal in Practice) for an exploration of how CMSs around the landscape can learn from Gutenberg's work to empower editors to collaborate in real-time in one of the most exciting new editorial experiences in the CMS world.

In this video, I discuss the best Learndash themes to use with Learndash 3.0. I try out WordPress Gutenberg default theme, Astra Theme and finally Divi theme. Although there are so many themes I could try, the bottom line is Leardash 3.0 works well with any theme out there is you turn on focus mode. If you really want to extend what you can do with the basic Astra theme, you can use Astra with Elementor or Brizy. My favorite setup is using Learndash 3.0 with the Divi Builder.

People vastly underestimate the technology they will or won't use. I mean I thought Twitter was dumb when I first saw it. Now, I spend plenty of time there. It's just how it goes. WordPress Gutenberg is no different. All these people saying they'll never use it WILL be soon enough. But, if you can spot these little incongruencies, you can predict where things are headed and get ahead of the curve. Create products and services. Out-compete those who drag their feet. And, position yourself for when everybody DOES finally show up. I think Gutenberg is one of those things.
