The Black Dahlia Murder, Killswitch Engage, In Flames. UU. junto a bandas como Deftones, Thrice, Dredg, Funeral for a Friend y Story of the Year.
Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage and Times of Grace is our guest this week! We talk about the new Times of Grace album, Songs of Loss and Separation, their first in 10 years, and reflect on its predecessor, The Hymn of a Broken Man. Adam shares his thoughts on the importance of keeping his mind busy during dark times, working on music videos with Nick Hipa (ex-As I Lay Dying, ex-Wovenwar), his attempt at the Big 4 of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal, how he gets grumpier as he gets older, and the silver linings that are happening now after a rough year mentally. Petar, Brandon, and Jozalyn discuss “old country” methods of healing things and cultural differences between consumers in America and other parts of the world. Apologies for the audio issue during our banter. Thank you to our sponsor, Metal Blade Records, for their continued support! Songs: Times of Grace - “The Burden of Belief” and “Medusa”

This week we are talking all about bad choices. First up, we interview Scott B. Hansen about his film The Possession Experiment, in which a college student invites a demonic possession into his body for a school project. Bad idea. Then, a young woman decides to join a mysterious billionaire's private game in Rich the Monster Movie Kid's review of Would You Rather? Bad idea. Finally, two old friends reconnect and go to another weird rich guy's house and perform crazy antics for desperately needed cash in Desmond and Darryll's review of Cheap Thrills. Probably a bad idea. But a good idea is music: "Open Your Eyes" by Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, "All Rise" by Wovenwar, "Sell Your Soul" by Hollywood Undead, "Bloodstains" by Agent Orange, and "Betty Ford for Christmas" by Leif Garrett & The Crush Ups. My conversation backstage at "Ozzfest meets Knotfest" with Wovenwar guitarist Nick Hipa. We talk about playing at Glen Helen, playing on stage with Slipknot. We also dig into the 2nd Wovenwar album "Honor Is Dead" (out now). We talk San Diego, Chargers, Craft Beer, his venue "Brick By Brick" and more
Jordan Mancino, drummer for Wovenwar (and ex-As I Lay Dying) guests this week on your favorite metal podcast to talk about the band's new record, Honor is Dead, which is out now. We talked with Jordan about the recent departure of bandmate Phil Sgrosso (he'd been a part of AILD and/or Wovenwar since he was a teenager), how they were able to reconstruct themselves after Tim Lambesis decided to "go rogue" and what that looked like from the inside, how that time in their history informs who they are today, and their experience as a Christian band evolving into a secular group in such a visible way. We also talk about bands who come to represent entire genres of music. Some bands that barely have a connection to a type of music adopt a new aesthetic and sound, then rise to the top of a genre by writing middle of the road tunes that play on the popular pieces of the genre's past and capitalize on the lowest common denominator of fans. Are such bands legit? It's happened with many different genres over the years: Green Day with punk, Limp Bizkit with nu-metal, Avenged Sevenfold with metal and many more.

It's been two years since the world's greatest rap duo, Drive By Curious, released their debut album. At long last, they have released their follow-up, Come On Guys (although, I'm still not sure they're aware that the grammatical error turns that album title into something completely different). Not only that, but both mcKILLough and Rainbow Sprinkle join us in the studio after our review to talk a bit about the record. Please go to http://drivebycurious.bandcamp.com and download their music for name-your-price!We've also got a few brief show topics, like the album release dates from Wovenwar and Frank Iero's new solo project and Adam reviews albums from Nothing, Nowhere and Silent Planet. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theskinnywithmikeandadam/support

On this week's show, we're joined by Adam's wife, Dawn, to talk about the winners and the nominations from this past week's Emmy Awards. We discuss whether or not we three feel like the winners were well deserved and the debate gets heated when the topic of The Big Bang Theory and whether or not it is a good show or not is discussed. Before that, we check up on the Billboard numbers for 'Get Hurt' by The Gaslight Anthem; we share the news of Slipknot's upcoming new album and their tour with Korn; we wonder whether or not the latest ex member of My Chemical Romance will impress us with his solo music; and we get excited over the upcoming new FX show that was just announced starting Zack Galifianakis and showrun by Louis CK.At the end of the show, Adam reviews 'Shatter Me' by Lindsey Stirling and the debut self-titled albums from Wovenwar and Secret Band. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theskinnywithmikeandadam/support

This week, guitarist Nick Hipa goes on the record about Tim Lambesis, the demise of As I Lay Dying, and the rise of Wovenwar, his new band with the other former members of AILD. The chat went so long, this episode is pretty much dedicated solely to the interview!
Sam Dunn, director, producer, anthropologist and co-owner of Banger Films is our guest this week. He has become the de facto record-keeper for heavy metal, having produced Metal: A Headbanger's Journey, Metal Evolution, Global Metal and more focused documentaries about Iron Maiden, Rush and now Super Duper Alice Cooper. Sam tells us the history of a legend who so many of us know little to nothing about, and we pick his brain to find out who might be next, how he became a metal filmmaker and more. We discuss the fascinating story of Vik Guitars founder Vik Kuletski, hating on gay people and headless guitars, whether a niche businessman can come out against an idea and lifestyle that is now in the mainstream, and whether those consequences are just. Everyone has a right to their opinion, but when you're selling $5,000 guitars can you afford to lose even one customer? We also hear the new Wovenwar and avoid talking about the sentencing of Lambesis, instead focusing on the damn catchy song the other members made without him.
