Salvete sodales! Welcome to our series, "Rem Tene;" a Latin podcast presented by Latinitas Animi Causa for beginner and intermediate learners of the Latin language built and designed for the acquisition and understanding of it as a language, not just a code to decipher. Sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarnVulgar Display of Podcast: Instagram | Twitter | FacebookBetterHelp, Zymurgy Brewing, Black Bayou Coffee Roasters, Michael Haley Photography, Total Deathcore, Liquid DeathOne of St. Louis' finest,The Gorge, embodies a passionate fusion of diverse musical influences, driven by four musicians deeply devoted to complex and heavy sounds. Their album, Mechanical Fiction, bursts with exuberant creativity, evident in the intricate math rock complexities of the opening track "Synapse Misfre" and the awe-inspiring tapping acrobatics in "A Decision Was Made." Each song resonates with the sheer joy and enthusiasm these artists experienced while composing them.As the album progresses, listeners are taken on a thrilling ride, like navigating the fast-paced, chugging mid-section of "Beneath The Crust," which unexpectedly gives way to a glorious choir celebrating the sunrise. Or, reveling in the electrifying riffs that follow blistering blast beats on "Presence." These memorable moments of pure, mind-blowing bliss are abundant throughout Mechanical Fiction. The guitarist/vocalist, Phil Ring, explains that the album's title, Mechanical Fiction, reflects the mundane routines and motions people often find themselves stuck in. It's a commentary on how individuals may go through life, convincing themselves that everything is fine, but without truly living authentically. As one delves deeper into the record, particularly the lyrics, unexpected emotional depths are uncovered. Ring reveals that the loss of loved ones to mental illness heavily influenced his lyric writing process, giving songs like "A Decision Was Made" and "Earthly Decay" a potent emotional punch in addition to their musical impact.Amidst the scattered ashes of life's challenges, the band always manages to find sparks of hope that ignite flames of joy. The title track harkens back to the era when fusion solo guitarists like Tosin Abasi and Plini rose to fame, but THE GORGE sets themselves apart by prioritizing repetition and structure over virtuoso soloing. Interspersing Meshuggah-style riffing and vocals with moments of pristine melody, the album embodies a two-faced nature. In the midst of this, the low-key "jazzy" midsection in "Earthly Decay" showcases the band's musical prowess, while their collective compositional skill shines in the artful buildup through various sections leading to a powerful finale. This episode is sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn and presented to you by The Barn Media Group.

Capturing a seasoned elegance and ferocity well beyond their years, Sydney's Reliqa are entirely in a league of their own via their blazing mix of prog, metal and genre-defiant creations. Already a burgeoning fixture in the Australian progressive metal scene, Reliqa have spent much of 2022 wowing crowds on stages, appearing at all national dates for https://www.destroyalllines.com/festival-faq/ (Monolith Festival) as well as supports for Caligula's Horse and Thy Art Is Murder earlier this year, as well as unveiling new music in the form of their blazing single Safety, featuring Sean Harmanis from Make Them Suffer. But while their ongoing successes have seen their star quality exponentially rise, it's this month that the group arrive at yet another triumph: a third EP, I Don't Know What I Am, ready to dazzle with its measured mayhem and sharpened dexterity. With the new EP dropping the same day as the group's final appearance at Monolith Festival in Perth alongside the likes of Karnivool, Cog, Plini, Ocean Grove and more, there's still plenty of Reliqa magic still to come in the not-too-distant future. But before the next incredible Reliqa chapter truly ignites, Reliqa vocalist, and all-round powerhouse, Monique Pym joins host Tiana Speter on the latest epsiode of https://www.thesoundcheck.org/the-soundcheck-podcast (Behind The Soundcheck) to chat new music, vulnerability and some extremely quick onstage problem solving. Read on and listen below. In this episode we discuss: The reality of hard work for any working band or artist, and the struggle of downtime. Reliqa's active patience involved in building towards the upcoming release of I Don't Know What I Am. The goal behind the band's lead single Safety featuring Sean Harmanis from Make Them Suffer. The trademark arsenal of skills, tools and sounds of Reliqa, and how and why they chose to branch out in their new EP. Embracing their genre-defying sound and carrying that notion into I Don't Know What I Am. Writing from a more personal perspective for the new EP and Mon's comfort zone background as a constant writer. Finding meaning in music, accessible music and respecting the platform of vulnerable communication and varied listening styles. After several delayed attempts to get off the ground, Monolith Festival is set to make its debut at Brisbane's Eatons Hill Hotel on August 13.Featuring two of Australia's heavyweight progressive rock outfits in Karnivool and COG – who have not toured together for 17 years – Monolith is a celebration of not just music in this country, but also the broad spread of bands within the rock genre.Joining Karnivool and COG will be Ocean Grove, Plini, sleepmakeswaves, Reliqa and Yomi Ship for a travelling festival that stops at Melbourne, Sydney and Perth across one month of Saturdays to maximise reach. After an enforced prolonged absence due to world conditions, COG are preparing to reignite their assault on the hearts and ears of their loyal fans, with drummer Lucius Borich sitting down for a chat with HEAVY about the run of shows. We start by asking, after the postponements of recent times, when it will actually feel real that the band will be once more stepping on stage."It's always a matter of when that foot hits the stage, and the foots on the bass drum pedal and then you know that it's actually happening,” he smiled. “That's the way I approach it, try not to get too excited - considering what's gone on the last two and a half years with stop/starts and disappointments and whatever else - it's kind of like you learn to sit in that holding pattern of when it happens it happens. Like I said, if my foots on the bass drum pedal, I'll have a smile on my face."One distinguishing feature of Monolith is the decision to operate from just one stage with all seven bands, avoiding the potential pitfalls associated with band clashes."It's a good idea to have it like that,” Borich nodded. “All the bands have a shorter set as well, same with Cog. You get to see that amount of bands in a short stint of time. If we were all doing our longer sets it would probably be too much, but to have shorter sets you can pack it all in, and there's variety and all the rest of it from all the different bands I think that's a great idea. People can be more concentrated on being more attentive to the bands and the music that are playing."In the full interview, Lucius talks more about Monolith, performing with Karnivool again, the importance of having emerging bands play with more established artists, providing guidance for younger bands, new music from COG and more.

The 1st Class Honours Bmus and current PhD student composes instrumental progressive rock inspired by the likes of Plini, Animals As Leaders, and Intervals. Featuring catchy melodies, a fierce rhythm section and mind-bending soloing. ‘Irretraceable Steps' aims to take the established Djent sound and fuse it with a more progressive rock mentality. Inspired by the likes of Plini and Intervals, Divided by Design take singable melodies and apply them to the instrumental guitar world. After returning to the live scene in a post covid world, DBD have been seen playing notable performance such as: a northern UK tour, headline shows in Leeds and Lincolnshire as well as support slot alongside Polymath and Codices. Divided by Design have taken the past year to work on their craft as songwriters to create something fresh, catchy and truly progressive, which can be heard in their latest album “Irretraceable steps” out 18th of March. Aiming to continue the forward-thinking ideas established in their previous releases “The Catalyst (EP)” and “Stages to Osiris” in which ‘Angry Wolf Music' cited it as a “a complex progressive masterpiece”. Out of a year of live music misery, one shining beacon of hope was the recent announcement that UNIFY is planning on holding their annual concert next year from January 20 to 23 at Tarwin Lower, South Gippsland. The all – Australian lineup is already impressive after just the first announcement, with The Amity Affliction and Violent Soho leading the charge along with a host of other Aussie heavyweights including Alpha Wolf, Ocean Grove, Plini, RedHook and Thornhill.Thornhill vocalist Jacob Charlton joined HEAVY to chat about UNIFY 2022."It's gonna be really fun to go back,” he enthused, “because we were in Europe the last time it was on, we didn't get to go and see it."Run over three days, the festival is massive in scale not just for the punters, but also the bands who will no doubt be reacquainting themselves with long time friends they have not seen in over 12 months because of lockdowns."That's the whole thing,” Charlton smiled. “I don't know what day we have, is that even announced? I'm really hoping it's not the Saturday (laughs). If we play Friday I can just chill out and see everyone on the Friday and be like hi, I'm not drinking, I'm playing a show today. Playing, hopefully kill it, and then ruin myself for the next two days. BUT, I don't think it's going to be the case because I have a feeling I'm not gonna have it the way I want it and I'm gonna have to be a big Normie for the first two days."In the full interview, Jacob talks us more through UNIFY 2022, who he is most looking forward to seeing, the threat of COVID and how he prepares for a festival that may be threatened, what Thornhill have been doing in lockdown, new music and what direction it may take and more.
Fantastisch! Wir freuen uns, wenn ihr Fotos von euren Blaubeer-Genüssen auf Instagram mit @heimatgenuss_und_weltwürze taggt – so finden wir eure Bilder. In diesem Sinne: An Guadn und Bon Appétit!

Resenha: Plini - Impulse Voices (Djent Australiano)
