In a world marked by division, isolation, and loneliness, we are a people in desperate need of radical love and connection in the ordinary parts of our lives and world. Join us at Midtown for our new teaching series entitled Won't You Be My Neighbor?: Radically Ordinary Hospitality, as we go on a spiritual journey of exploration, mining the riches of Jesus' life and teaching to explore the radical practice of neighboring and examining the ways that this ancient and timeless practice can get us caught up in the present work of the Kingdom of God in our own time. Together we'll challenge the prevalent culture of division by emphasizing the importance of building authentic relationships across societal boundaries, provide practical guidance on fostering a sense of community in our homes and world, examine how to break down walls of hostility that isolate and divide, and ultimately combat the epidemic of loneliness through intentional acts of kindness and inclusion, that all people might come to a knowledge of their identities as beloved children of God and might experience His love and grace in their own lives. Listen as Gayle Parker explores Jesus' story of the Kingdom dinner in Luke 14, and how it teaches us to ask three important questions: -What's Your Excuse? -What's Your Motivation? -Will You Persist? Do you notice how often you hold yourself back from changing and growing by telling yourself stories, such as “I can't do this” or “This is too hard”? These thoughts are more than just words. They're the invisible walls that block us from discovering what we are capable of. But what if there's a way to dismantle these barriers and step into your greatness? In this week's episode of Empowerment Solutions, we delve into the world of stories, excuses, and limiting beliefs that convince us to stay safe within our comfort zone and never explore beyond our boundaries. We explore why we make such excuses and the keys to overcoming them to access our true potential to heal, grow, and succeed. Join me!!Dr Friedemann's Key Takeaways:Intro (00:00)What Holds Us Back? What's Your Excuse? | Romans 1:18-23 | Jon Deedrick
According to the Chinese Lunar Calendar, 2023 is the year of the Water Rabbit: Starting from January 22nd, 2023 (Chinese New Year), and ending on February 9th, 2024/which will be the day before co-host Kerry's 40th birthday, (Chinese New Year's Eve). The sign of Rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity in Chinese culture. Our audio guy (having purchased new mics for himself for Christmas at local business Music City Canada) and sibling co-host Brian just so happens to have been born in another past year of the rabbit. Brought to you by we two, the rabbit and the rat, it's our first live, in-studio episode of Outlook for the year as we cover a mixture of topics including other online podcast communities and our desire to reach out, hear from, and connect with anyone about disability on the Western University campus. And we share about the holidays (music played by Brian and friends and Kerry's new keyboard) and on habits and establishing routines as we look to the year ahead. In the second half we celebrate the life of Ontario's first lieutenant-governor (2007) with a visible physical disability. David Onley lived with the traces of childhood polio and died on Saturday, January 14th and we include here a few clips of him in his own words as he explains his involvement in making change around issues of accessibility. David was instrumental in keeping the AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act 2005 with aims of achieving its results by 2025) in the news, reviewing its progress or lack-thereof, and the importance for visible representation of people with disabilities in society to work on improved policy for all citizens, but specifically individuals of the population living with all kinds of disabilities of which any one of us could acquire at any point. That is why David spoke out about it throughout his life and why we two do what we do. So do check out our first Mixed Bag show - 2023 is predicted to be a year of hope according to the Chinese Lunar Calendar. Let's all find out together and check out these links for more on what we discuss in this first of many mixed bag shows to come in this, 2023, the year of the water rabbit. Please enjoy this podcast on the subject topic: What's Your Excuse? This podcast focusing on helping the listening audience to stop making excuses for trying to do life on their own without a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. To realize that having one with Him is better than not going it alone. The suicide rate is up. We need to face the truth and that truth is Jesus is available and a Friend that will stick closer than anybody or anything. We can examine ourselves daily and renew our relationship daily to get a fresh start each and every day. This allows us to cast all of our cares on Jesus that is well able to take care of all of our concerns, issues, sickness and disease. Many don't realize that God knows all about us, He has a complete record of our life. He knows our beginning and our end. We should connect with Jesus to truly get to know ourselves. Many people are searching for themselves, searching for excuses, searching for something that can help them live life. They've tried everything but Jesus Christ. It's a new year and it's time to have a new lease on life with Jesus Christ. Give up the old way of self-bullying with excuses and look to the Most High God to provide all that we need. He wants us to live a better story. We must ask Him to intervene by taking the wheel of our life and drive us to Victory. This year, I'm asking the listening audience to endeavor to work on their relationship with God and not be found without one and full of excuses. I pray that someone's life is touched by this podcast and blessed beyond compare. I pray that your relationship with God will increase in knowledge and wisdom. As when we know better, we can do better. If this podcast blesses you, please like it and share it. What's Your Excuse?Reader: Jon WatsonDate: 26th November 2022Passage: Luke 14:14-18-------------------Excuses! Not many of us would pass up an invitation to a great banquet. Each year our Moderator is invited to a great banquet at the Palace of Holyrood House — and no one makes an excuse not to go. But many of the people mentioned in Jesus's story did make excuses not to attend the banquet — and some silly excuses they were. The story Jesus told was a parable and like all of his parables, this one had a very serious side to it. It has to do with the Gospel invitation which Jesus extends to all of us to come to him and to enjoy the great' feast' of good things which are all included in his salvation. But so many people give all kinds of excuses why they don't come to follow Jesus as their Saviour. Some say they don't need him, they are good enough. Others say the Bible isn't true (although they have never read it!); others say that science disproves what the Bible says (although they may know very little science or the Bible). But there are others who do hear the Gospel and may say they will think about it - another time. How often excuses turn out to be disasters, opportunities lost for ever! Do you have an excuse for not having come to Jesus yet? Don't make any more excuses; don't put it off.Pray now and ask the Lord Jesus to bring you to himself and to save you. Turn over your whole life to him and he will keep you and care for you for ever.
Self Sabotage - What's Your Excuse If this offends you then this is just for you Creating the success you deserve through all your effort is what this podcast is all about, creating the best version of yourself without anxiety and with all the confidence you want - That's why ask "What's Your Excuse?" that's if you keep finding ways to put it off. And we all do that - Don't we? You see I have never bought into this thing we call Self Sabotage, not even the definition of it too. But I do think we do find ways to put things off and I also believe we have the tools to make sure we don't derail ourselves. That's what this episode will go into, not just the theory but real processes to explore the why and even more importantly the HOW TO. So don't put off listening to this and bring your notepad and a bucketful of curiosity. I'll go through those excuses I've used, and I bet you have used them too, and then dive deeply into how your values can be in conflict, they clash and the result is not finishing what we start however important we think they are and the negative emotions that come along and make us feel bad. When we learn these WHYS and then the HOW To's the difference in our life will be immense and we begin living to our potential and that's one of the core values of this podcast. What's Your Excuse? Bro. Caleb Kasprzyk Text: Proverbs 26:13 October 12, 2022 - 7PM
It's Kat and Abby with you today, and we're very excited to be diving into the topic of mindset! Mindset can be thought of as a buzzword these days, and some people think it's not important, but we truly believe that mindset is the fuel that either moves us closer to our goals or keeps us feeling stuck, unfulfilled, and maybe even resentful in some situations. In this episode, you'll hear about the beliefs that we have held and how we now see the ways that they have held us back and hurt our progress or our growth. We'll also share how you can become aware of your own beliefs and in turn question their validity, and the role that they are playing in your life right now. We provide you with the mindset prompts and specific questions to ask yourself, because awareness is such an important piece of all of this. When you become aware, you can find solutions that challenge and help you become the business owner, mom, partner, and leader that you want to be in the world. We want to know what beliefs you have uncovered by listening to this episode. What is it that you really want, and what would you do this upcoming year if you knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that you couldn't fail? Send us a DM on Instagram, @pursuingherpurpose, and we'll be cheering you on not only because you've uncovered the beliefs you are holding, but because you've discovered what it is that you desire! Maxwell Ivey, known around the world as The Blind Blogger, has transformed himself from morbidly obese failed carnival owner to respected amusement equipment broker in the best health of his life. People were impressed and asked him to share more about being a blind entrepreneur. That lead to a second website and brand as The Blind Blogger. From there he has written four self-help books, appeared on over 350 podcasts, traveled the country solo, sung & spoken in public, and started his own Podcast called What's Your Excuse. He has accomplished many challenging goals by being willing to ask for help and accept help when offered, by deciding to find solutions instead of making excuses, and by being determined to find the positive in all aspects of his life. He loves to sing and routinely sings on his podcast, when being interviewed, and when giving public talks. His current passion is the WYE, What's Your Excuse? Network where he is working to help other people with disabilities to launch podcasts of their own or to help existing hosts grow their audiences. He believes that it's easier for him to answer an awkward question than to make you guess. So, if you have any question at all, please just ask him. In 2003, Nick Prefontaine was in a snowboarding accident that left him in a coma for over 3 weeks. The doctors told his parents that he probably wouldn't walk, talk, or eat on his own again. Less than 3 months later, he was running out of Franciscan Children's hospital. Now Nick speaks to groups that benefit from his message of overcoming adversity. Nick grew up in the real estate industry and got started at an early age. Most notably, he was knocking on Pre-Foreclosure doors at 16, doing up to 50 doors a day. This experience helped shape Nick's real estate career. When someone opens the door you better have something compelling to say. Now, Nick specializes in working with lease purchase buyers to get them into a home and on the path to home ownership. In today's episode, I talk to Maxwell Ivey, the Blind Blogger, about his childhood spent in his family run carnival. It taught him a lot about life generally, and also give him the skills he would need as an independent blind person.Skills like seeing past his ego and asking for, and accepting, help where he needed it. Or, of asking for what you want, not just what you need. As Max says, if you don't ask someone you don't give them the opportunity to say yes!We talk about how writing, and being creative generally, is good for your mental health. It makes you feel good about yourself and lets you connect with others who ‘get' you.A big component of what Max teaches is to look for the positive in life and he gives me examples of when he's been challenged and had to work hard to see the positive in a situation - but it's always there if you look for it.This is so relevant to you as a writer because there will be times that you don't like what you write, or an agent rejects your manuscript or short story. How will you navigate those challenging times so that you come out the other side still in tact?He gives advice on how to start and run a blog or podcast, so if that's something you've been thinking about, this interview is a great listen.Max is building a network called the WYE Network (What's Your Excuse) with the aim of helping disabled people start and publish their own podcast, and support the disability community. As always, you'll find all links in the show notes.Links:The Blind Blogger – Helping you share your story and grow your passion through the power of TV, radio, and podcast interviews. What's Your Excuse Show – What's Your Excuse? This time Emily takes inspiration from two Canadian holidays to give thanks for the many amazing coaches who have been part of her journey and who continue to help her chase her dream of paralympic gold. First, Canada hosts a coaches appreciation week the third week of September to encourage athletes of all ages and abilities to show their gratitude to the impact their coaches have had on their lives. And then last week Canada celebrated it's thanksgiving holiday. I've always been impressed with how quickly Emily is to show gratitude to everyone who comes into her life and has an effect on her. While listening to all the names and their various fields of expertise, I was reminded just how much work goes into developing a serious athlete like Emily. She also talked about this being the anniversary of her joining the Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports Blue Streak race team. https://vass.ca/race-program She talks about last year and how they managed with Covid restrictions. She shares her hopes and aspirations for the upcoming season. And I can't wait to hear of her future adventures. I appreciate the opportunity to help Emily share her story. I do hope you will rate, review, and share this episode with your friends and family. Please do follow Emily on Face Book http://facebook.com/teamstarfishroadtoparalympics and Twitter https://twitter.com/starfishrd2018 And feel free to email Emily with questions or suggestions at trepanieremily@yahoo.ca I hope you will also join us in the What's Your Excuse? group on Face book at https://facebook.com/groups/TheBlindBlogger And if you have any questions about the podcast network, please email me at justask@theblindblogger.net Finally, as Emily so eloquently put it, we couldn't do this without the technical support and financial assistance from the wonderful people at Blubrry. http://blubrry.com Until next time thanks from Me, Emily and Darling. Be sure to also follow him on social media, and tell him The Deciding Factor sent you!Maxwell Ivey Bio:Maxwell Ivey is known around the world as The Blind Blogger. He is a totally blind man who has transformed himself from a morbidly obese failed carnival owner to a respected amusement equipment broker in the best health of my life. He started his first online business, The Midway marketplace, in September of 2007 which was pre-wifi, per-word press, and pre-face book. He had to learn many things including how to hand code html, recruit clients, set fees, manage images, build an email list, use social media, record videos, and so much more. People were inspired by his willingness to take on difficult challenges and scary opportunities, and they encouraged him to share more of what it's like being an entrepreneur who happens to be blind. That led to a second website and blog as #TheBlindBlogger, writing three self-help books, dozens of podcast and radio interviews, traveling cross-country solo, singing in public, doing public speaking, and now hosting his own podcast called What's Your Excuse. From all the podcast and radio appearances people started asking him how he got all those opportunities. Then they started asking him to do the work of getting them similar opportunities to share their stories online. And that lead to a new business as an online media publicist. A service that now includes direct marketing, lead generation, and social media promotion. Discover more about Is Finding Solutions The Key To Success you need to visit:
