In today's episode, we're going to talk about the deeper connection between approval-seeking, the need to prove ourselves, and the quiet ways these patterns can shape our relationship with food and our bodies.I share my own journey—growing up in a household where performance and perfection were tied to love, and how that created a deep fear of doing it wrong, being too much, or not enough. Like many women, I internalized thebelief that being good meant being small, quiet, and in control. For me, that showed up in disordered eating—but it could show up as over-achieving, people-pleasing, or self-neglect.We'll explore:*How childhood experiences of needing approval can turn into perfectionism and body control*Why many women feel “safe” when they're hungry or productive*The role of culture and generational patterns in shaping our self-worth*What healing looks like when we stop trying to earn love—and start offering it to ourselvesIf you've ever felt like no matter how much you do, it's never enough—or you've struggled to make peace with your body or your worth—this conversation is for you. You're not broken. You've been taught to abandon yourself. But you don't have to stay there.✨ Reflection Prompt:What was your earliest memory of “being good” or “doing it right” to get love, attention, or approval? What is Freedom? Freedom means different things to different people. Today, I am talking about inner freedom. We are often imprisoned in our own mind. We put an enormous amount of pressure on ourselves to live up to unrealistic expectations. The pressure to always be good and always do the right thing has us entrenched in a world of perfection. Many of us feel the pressure to prove we are good enough by how much we achieve, how much we produce, and how much we can do for others. The freedom to be oneself in a world that demands perfection is the ultimate freedom.   Continue the conversation on Instagram @dianesorensen.bb https://www.dianesorensen.net/   Summer of Support: Book a call and EXPLORE POSSIBILITY: https://calendly.com/dianesorensen/clarity-call   Join the Beautiful Behavior community for more insights and perspectives in parenting and relationship building - https://www.facebook.com/groups/1234281357530027   The Beautiful Behavior Programs will support you in setting firm boundaries that promote self-regulation, compassion and respect in all your relationships and parenting journey.  Reclaim your CALM, discover your TRUTH, and live FREE.  Take the first step by booking a call here: https://calendly.com/dianesorensen/clarity-call

My guest, Andrea Anderson, joins me today to discuss emotional wellness and creating more peace and harmony in the home environment. Andrea shares her story on how her children were the catalyst for her own growth. Andrea is a Health + Emotional Wellness Coach, Speaker + Author for parents of kids whose brains are wired differently. Over the years, Andrea helped her sons improve and move past various neuro-diversities. Consequently, she spent a lot of time in the thick of stress, drama and anxiety for many years. However, she learned over time (from coaches, books, programs, courses and her own intuition), how to shift out of the drama, anxiety and stress, and begin to feel more at peace, even with chaos occurring around her. Eventually, she and her family began to get along better.  There was a lot more harmony in their home. And, over time, her relationship deepened with her kids.  She found her sons opening up more and even asking for help instead of resisting it. She now helps parents of kids + teens whose brains are wired differently, learn how to deepen their relationship with them, create more peace in their family and begin to help their kids to thrive!
