In 2025, energy broker Utility Aid, dedicated to the charity and NGO sector, collected 'Most Trusted Utility Broker'. Recognised as a leading UK company in this field, we caught up with Kayleigh Harwood, Customer Service Director to understand what make Utility Aid stand out from the crowd. In the latest episode of the CX Superheroes, hosted by Lexden CX's Christopher Brooks you will hear how success is earned. Kayleigh shares the passion she has for ensuring customers get the outcome they deserve, and a valued experience to arrive there. Kayleigh explains in conversation with Christopher that her passion for delivering great customer experience started long before joining Utility Aid. Being a part of Utility Aid has helped her appreciate just how much you can achieve on behalf of customers, when the culture of the business embraces it too. We hear how having a deep understanding of your customers, charities in the case of Utility Aid, helps you empathise with their challenges, such as not always having expertise in utility contracts to ensure the charity is getting the best deal. It also means alot of effort goes in behind the scenes to ensure the effort of those in the charity are not spending their time wading through admin. Their priority is serving others in society who need support, which makes Utility Aid's involvement more of a purpose for all, as Kayleigh explains. We all hear about the importance of celebrating gains in CX, and recognising progress. Kayleigh provides great insight into this and the impact it can have on motivating colleagues to achieve more. Kayleigh and Utility Aid provide a strong justification to be recognised as leading role models in customer experience, which is high praise considering the guests we've had on this podcast. Tune in and discover why we hold them in such high regard.

Hard to talk aerial surfing, these days, without coughing up the name Hughie Vaughan. Harder still to believe he's only 19 years old. He's really taken flight, if you will, over the past few years. The original seed for the Bottle Rockets division. Entered Stab High Lakey Peak as a tiny 15-year-old and levitated around the comp-site like a garden bird. Proved he could hang with fully grown men despite weighing the same as a damp towel. Couple years later, Japan 2025, Hughie comes of age and wins the men's title, a spear tackle from Mikey Wright to seal it. Then: the Hughie Flip at The Nines, reshared and baptised by Tony Hawk. Mainstream television appearances in Australia followed; Hughie now a nationally recognised flying object. A day out from the opening horn of Stab High Virginia Beach presented by Monster Energy, and we get the former champ and in many circles, the overwhelming favourite, Hughie Vaughan. He discusses all there is to discuss about aerial surfing, including his current top air guys on earth, what he sees as the limitations of competitive surfing, and a genuinely moving section on family and the lessons left behind by his late mother.

Work with Purpose: A podcast about the Australian Public Service.
In this episode of Work with Purpose, host Louise MacDonald, managing partner, at EY, Canberra speaks with Kirsty Kirk, director of Leadership Programs at Services Australia, and Ken Walker, national manager, Emergency Response at Services Australia, about Services Australia's Service Delivery Immersion Program. The program gives SES leaders and policy partners firsthand insight into how decisions, systems and policies land for staff and customers. By spending time in service centres and call environments, leaders see the complexity of frontline work, the needs of vulnerable customers, and the opportunities to make services simpler and more effective.Recognised through the IPAA ACT Spirit of Service Awards, the program has expanded across government and is helping build more empathetic, customer-centred leadership.Key tips:1. Stay close to the people your work affects. Regularly step away from the desk to observe services, speak with communities, and see firsthand how policies and programs land in real life.2. Design and decide from the user's perspective. Ask, “What does this feel like for the person on the receiving end?”. Aim for interactions that are simple, human, and seamless.3. Treat frontline staff as partners, not endpoints. Involve the people who deliver services in shaping policy, programs and systems. Listen to their insights, act on what you hear, and keep feedback loops open.4. Lead with curiosity and empathy. Frontline immersion helps leaders better understand customer complexity, staff pressures, and the human impact of their decisions. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

In the final episode of the series on Grandmotherness, Julia speaks with Melissa about how this stage of life reshapes the way we let go, think long-term, and lead beyond our own agenda. Melissa begins by drawing a distinction between motherness and grandmotherness. While both are rooted in care, investment, and hope, grandmotherness introduces a different quality — love with less attachment to outcomes. It is about offering support, guidance, and encouragement, while trusting that things will unfold as they will. The conversation explores how this shift changes the experience of leading. Moving from structured roles to community-based work, Melissa reflects on how grandmotherness allows for a more emergent, less controlled way of leading — one that is not driven by fixed plans or measurable outcomes, but by openness and trust in the process. A central theme in the episode is letting go. From succession to influence, Melissa speaks about the challenge of stepping back — becoming less central, less visible, and allowing others to take ownership. True continuity, she suggests, comes when leadership does not depend on one person, but carries on seamlessly. They also reflect on the importance of thinking beyond immediate results. Grandmotherness invites a longer horizon — planting seeds for futures we may never see, and making decisions that are not centred on personal recognition or short-term success. The conversation touches on the risks of leading without this mindset — from creating overly compliant environments to becoming disconnected from reality. In contrast, grandmotherness encourages a way of leading that is grounded, observant, and quietly influential. Storytelling also emerges as an important thread. Grandmotherness is not about romanticising the past, but about holding and sharing stories honestly — including difficulty, struggle, and identity — so that others can understand where they come from and where they might go. This episode is a reminder that leading is not always about doing more or holding on tighter. Sometimes, it is about stepping back, letting go, and trusting that what you have helped build will continue beyond you. About the Guest Melissa Aratani Kwee is a Singapore-based community builder, social entrepreneur, and Director at Pontiac Land Group. She is the co-founder of Beautiful People, a volunteer-driven initiative that creates mentoring relationships for teenage girls, fostering confidence, skills, and lifelong connections. What does recognition actually mean - and what does it change? In this special live episode recorded at Manchester Punk Festival, Diana Safieh is joined by international law expert Dr Emma Luce Scali (University of Manchester, UN consultant) to unpack one of the biggest political headlines of the year: Britain's recognition of the State of Palestine. But beyond the announcement - what does recognition actually do?Drawing on international law, political reality, and lived Palestinian experience, this conversation cuts through symbolism to examine power, enforcement, and what meaningful change would really look like on the ground. What it actually means to be a “state” in international lawWhy recognition is important - but not enough on its ownThe gap between legal status and lived reality in PalestineHow international law works (and why enforcement is its biggest weakness)What the International Court of Justice has said about occupation, apartheid, and illegalityWhy settlements are not just symbolic - but structural and permanentThe role of economics: aid, trade, debt, and financial controlWhy aid alone can reinforce, rather than resolve, injusticeWhat obligations states like the UK already have under international lawWatch or listen on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts - just search Britain Palestine Project.
This move has to be seen as part of a wider attempt by imperialism to outflank the Axis of Resistance. Protestors in Mogadishu wave Somali and Palestinian flags as they denounce Israel's announcement recognising the breakaway Somaliland region and call for the territorial unity of Somalia. Meanwhile, no amount of ‘strategic planning' by the think tank-ocracy can wish away the growing resilience and determination of the various national-liberation forces which collectively form the middle-eastern Axis of Resistance, with Iran and Yemen at its core, and backed by the growing economic might and military prowess of China and Russia.
