This week's entry to the Four Four Local Selection welcomes Meath-based DJ and producer ERNƎSTAS to the series. This upcoming tech and minimal house talent has been turning heads with an exceptional arsenal of unreleased material since surfacing and has racked up numerous gigs as a result. Lock in for the next hour and hear what ERNƎSTAS is all about. Ernestas has made a significant dent in Dublin's house music scene in a relatively short span of time, in just over a year he has supported Alisha, Robbie Doherty, Cam Stockman, Tommy Phillips, and more. He's become a regular outfit for one of Dublin's leading parties, Omni, where he has also recently performed at their Open Air festival alongside Irish house music veteran Eric Brown. ERNƎSTAS also won the Four Four Mix Series Competition last October, earning the opportunity to play at Otherside Festival, which was his first festival appearance. Not to mention picking up his UK gig debut in Brighton, where he supported house music fan-favourite Laidlaw. His productions have gained notoriety right across the industry and has recently released on Belters Only We Are Active Records. Undoubtedly, there is much more to come from this bright talent and we are extremely excited to see where he ends up on his musical journey. For the next 60 minutes, dial into this funk-driven recording from ERNƎSTAS. Acid-tinged basslines, sultry vocals, and airtight drums can be heard in abundance throughout, alongside a number of unreleased gems from ERNƎSTAS himself. A truly big buzz from one of Ireland's hottest house music prospects, who keeps his foot on the gas from the off. Host Trent Kins spotlights Mount Hawthorne and interviews Hamish Laidlaw, director at Acton Bell, about Perth's post-Easter market conditions (stock in the 3,000s, median near $1m, days on market around nine) and the Cook government's apartment finance underwriting policy. Laidlaw compares Melbourne's auction-centric, four-week campaigns and unconditional buying culture with Perth's FOMO-driven private treaty environment, explaining how auctions can condition sellers in softer markets but aren't currently ideal in Perth. They discuss tactics for buying in Melbourne (including post-auction negotiation) and in Mount Hawthorne, where buyers split between entry-level character homes around $1.6–$1.7m and “forever homes” in the high $2m range, often funded by local equity. Laidlaw suggests stronger terms like removing finance clauses and offering rent-back options, and names Matlock (and The Boulevard) as his favorite streets.
The Hurricanes have continued to keep their form alive, and beat out the Blues 42-19 in Wellington. It was a match that many had circled on the calendar as the two teams came into the contest in the top spots on the ladder. Hurricanes head coach Clark Laidlaw joined Piney to discuss. Season 8 kicks off with a timely conversation on what it takes to lead in today's high-pressure environment. Bart sits down with Carolyn Lawrence, founder of ClearPath and former Global Head of DEI at Deloitte, and Jennifer Laidlaw, founder of Cre8 Coaching, to explore the growing pressure leaders are facing today, particularly those from diverse backgrounds. As expectations rise and roles continue to expand, many leaders are feeling the weight of increased responsibility and scrutiny, often without clear support on how to navigate it. Carolyn shares what she's learned from years of working inside organizations on how to embed inclusion into the way businesses actually operate, not just as programs, but as systems that drive performance. Jennifer brings the complementary perspective of the “inner game,” helping leaders understand how their state of mind shapes how they show up, make decisions, and sustain energy over time. Together, they offer a practical and honest look at how to navigate these pressures, with clear ideas leaders can apply right away to better support themselves, their teams, and the systems they're part of. We explore how everyday work—paid or unpaid—becomes worship when it's offered to God with diligence, integrity, and a heart set on serving more than a supervisor. Drawing on Colossians and Titus, we unpack why working “heartily” is less about hustle and more about purpose, and how reclaiming the word vocation tears down the old wall between sacred and secular. We bring this vision to life through vivid examples. Timothy's faith was formed at home by a mother and grandmother who treated parenting as holy work. Tertius, a household servant whose name simply meant “third,” penned Paul's words to the Romans and reminds us that unseen roles can carry eternal weight. Erastus, the city treasurer of Corinth, used his public office with excellence and self-sacrifice, boosting the credibility of the gospel in his city. Then we look at Robert Laidlaw, a salesman turned CEO, who leveraged catalogs, generosity, and a clear gospel booklet to reach millions—proof that meaningful impact can flow through boardrooms, shop floors, farms, and kitchens.Across these stories runs a single thread: God often hides behind ordinary tasks, working through people who do the next right thing with skill and care. When we cook, teach, repair, design, manage, or serve as if Jesus were our direct client, our craft becomes a canvas for grace. Thank you to our Patron One In A Thousand who requested this week's book! They wrote in to us earlier this year, saying: "...At some point in your lives, you've probably experienced media that you felt was ALMOST really good, but for whatever reason it just wasn't, and media that was almost really good can be just as frustrating as outright bad media because you can see that it just needed a little bit of fixing. That's how I felt about The Third Force. It's a tie-in novel to an obscure Japanese multimedia franchise from the 90's called Gadget...Marc Laidlaw was given a lot of creative freedom to write his own interpretation of the story, including more worldbuilding and character development, to mixed results...Laidlaw has confirmed that several characters and plot points from this book went on to inspire elements of the Half-Life series, which he became the lead writer for a couple years after writing this...In a way, The Third Force is almost like a rough first draft for ideas that Laidlaw would execute in a better way later." In addition to our usual barnyard language, today's episode includes discussion or mention of brainwashing, torture, murder, and general high mind loss.
Head coach Clark Laidlaw anticipates a seamless return to the Hurricanes for Jason Holland. The 53-year-old, who led the team for four of his eight years with the Canes' prior to his role with the All Blacks, is back as an assistant for the 20-26 Super Rugby Pacific season. Although it's a demotion since Holland was last with the club, Laidlaw believes pride won't be an issue with him or the other assistant coaches. He told Piney Holland was excited and passionate about coming in to assist both him and Cooper, another assistant coach, with their roles. “His passion for making players better and picking apart defences is obvious, so I don't see any problems or issues with that.” “We genuinely have loved having him in already this week.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Is there such a thing as a universal human experience of the divine, or are all encounters shaped by culture, language, and power? In this video, we explore the classic debate between perennialism and constructivism, from William James and Mircea Eliade to Steven Katz, Talal Asad, and beyond. Drawing on philosophy, anthropology, psychology, and neuroscience, we look at how claims of universality are entangled with history and how particular traditions cultivate what we call “religious experience.”CONNECT & SUPPORT
He led Scotland. Now he's building better leaders one brutal truth at a time. From test matches to Tokyo Bay, Greig Laidlaw shares what leadership really looks like when ego's out, pressure's on, and you've got no place to hide. What happens when the armband comes off and the clipboard goes on?Former Scotland captain Greig Laidlaw has seen leadership from every angle: on the pitch, in the locker room, and now in the coach's box in Japan. In this episode, Greig gets painfully honest about the cost of poor leadership, why some captains shouldn't be captains, and what it really takes to build belief in yourself and your team. This isn't a highlight reel it's a deep dive into cultural collisions, emotional discipline, and the fine line between authority and authenticity. Why listen to this episodeIf you think leadership is about having the loudest voice in the room, this episode might hurt your feelings. And that's the point. You've been handed the title, but not the toolsYou want to build a team culture that actually works under pressureYou're trying to lead in a culture that doesn't like being questionedYou're still figuring out how to lead without losing yourselfYou want to hear from someone who's done the hard yards and still says, “Here's what I'm shit at”“Sometimes leadership isn't about stepping up it's about stepping back.”Because great leaders don't need the armband to lead.“We said yes… but we didn't mean it. We were just being polite.”Culture clash 101: politeness ≠ alignment.“He was a better leader the minute we took the captaincy off him.”Titles don't make leaders. Sometimes they ruin them.“Stop blaming the lack of leaders. Start building them.”Call HR. That one left a bruise.“If you let others lead, they'll surprise you. If you don't, they won't.”Control is not the same as leadership. It's just anxiety in uniform.“Am I doing the right thing here? Am I qualified?”Spoiler: That's what real leaders ask themselves. Not the loud ones.“Ego is the enemy and if you don't check it, the game will.”Turns out the pitch is better at spotting arrogance than your performance review.“The best players walk the line between control and chaos—and never tip red.”This isn't just rugby. This is emotional intelligence under fire.
