In episode #155 of The XS Noize Podcast, Mark Millar meets Ed Vyvyan and Tom Rea from dream rock four-piece junodream about their debut album, Pools Of Colour. Lined ten tracks deep, the band's debut album, Pools of Colour, is about coming to terms with insignificance. The profoundly immersive dream-rock LP asks essential questions, delving into the more insidious and disconnected parts of modernity and the human condition, presenting a band more interested in a cohesive, egoless whole than the perspective of four separate members. In sacrificing the desires of the self, they say, your creative collaboration becomes more fruitful and the world around you more colourful. Sharing a deep connection resulting from being best friends for a decade, alongside a DIY formula at the heart of everything they do, junodream is building a captivating world within their tight community of fans and collaborators. In the five years since their inception, junodream has amassed nearly half a million monthly listeners on Spotify and over 23 million collective streams on DSPs, forging blistering and immersive live performances, including a rapturous set at this year's The Great Escape Festival in Brighton. In this interview, Ed and Tom discuss their fantastic debut album, Pools of Colour and lots more.

Join your host Greg Howard Jr as he gets to the heart of what makes a musician tick with the incredibly talented ALICE PISANO!Italian-born, London-based, Alice Pisano, a contemporary pop artist who made a bright entrance to the scene back in 2018. Since then, she has garnered a fantastic name for herself, offering listeners an ecstatic realm of lyrical bliss and contagious musicality. Now, Pisano releases "Ink", the second single from her upcoming EP Shattered But Still Cool following the relatable "Boys Like You". Written and produced alongside Anthony Goldsbrough (Sam Tompkins, Charlotte OC) and Gavin Powell (Emeli Sandè, Jake Isaac), her new single explores how intense love can be for an introvert. Pisano confides, "I can get a bit shy in social situations, especially at big parties. But I also have a more bubbly and outgoing side, and having a crush on someone tends to drag me out of my shell. When I wrote it I was dating someone and I was in that initial infatuation phase, when you get butterflies in your stomach. It didn't end well, but that is another story!"As Pisano's dreamy vocals rise above energised synthesisers, "Ink" is enveloped by blissful melodies and a blaring bassline that would find a home on any dancefloor. She has released yet another single that genuinely encapsulates her burning desire for true pop-perfection. Pisano explains, "I hope Ink can be a mood booster and make someone dance, feel good and energised!"With shining global success, her debut single “Celebrated Life” garnered over four million Spotify streams alone. Following her successful debut, Pisano also had four singles enter the iTunes Pop charts, numerous radio plays on stations including the BBC and over one million views on TikTok with her single “September”. Her single “Open Up” was featured as the soundtrack to the summer trailer of the British hit TV series Hollyoaks. This year, Pisano played two shows at The Great Escape Festival and was one of the first 50 artists to be announced. Accumulating a huge amount of Spotify editorial support, her latest single "Boys Like You" made its way to Spotify's Global Fresh Finds playlist, 6 New Music Fridays, New Pop UK, as many more editorial playlists. We talk about how she got to where she is today, meeting her management, signing her publishing deal and also how she portrays herself online. In this episode we also delve into Rachel's brain about her creative style and how she began her career as a musician.

We can't wait to hear the tracks.  Other Voices is going to be in Ballina this September 28th and 29th 2018 sees the Other Voices Festival burst into life in the gorgeous town of Ballina, Co. Mayo. The ancient walls of St. Michael’s Church in the heart of the town, will shake, rattle and roll with two nights of music performances by Irish and international artists, recorded for TV in front of a live audience.   The first three acts for the TV recordings have been announced and they are Little Green Cars, Seamus Fogarty and Maria Kelly. They will join five more yet to be announced acts at the inaugural Other Voices Ballina event in September.   Tickets for the St. Michael’s Church TV recording performances cannot be purchased and will be given away through competitions in national and local radio, press and online. All ticket competitions will be announced in advance at www.othervoices.ie   The Other Voices Ballina Music Trail will feature more than 30 free gigs taking place in various venues across Ballina over the Other Voices Festival Weekend. These will be announced in the coming weeks. While scoring tickets for the Other Voices TV recordings can be like finding hen’s teeth, Other Voices Ballina festival goers won’t miss a note from the Church, as the Other Voices Live Streaming rolls into town. Music fans will enjoy all the happenings in St. Michael’s Church, at multiple locations throughout Ballina. With huge screens, high definition audio visual and close proximity to a freshly poured pint, screening venues will be a massive hit during the Festival. Grab a stool in lieu of a pew, relax and enjoy.   Dublin band Little Green Cars were teenagers when signed to Glassnote, releasing their widely acclaimed first Absolute Zero in 2013 and debuting at No. 1. What followed was life changing, with the band touring Europe and Australia, Russia and the USA, which they crossed six times in three years, growing a huge fanbase as they moved from town to town. Their most recent album, the stunning Ephemera from 2017, is a reflection on those growing year, their shared experiences. www.littlegreencars.com   Now signed to Domino Records, Mayo songwriter Seamus Fogarty and his band borrow from every genre, from krautrock to traditional balladry and everything in between, mixing conventional instrumentation with found sounds and live electronics, all fronted by Fogarty’s plaintive vocal and song-writing. Since releasing his first album in 2012 on legendary Scottish label Fence Records (King Creosote, James Yorkston), his songs have featured extensively across both the BBC and RTE His latest album The Curious Hand, produced by Fogarty and Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno, Wild Beasts), received rave reviews across the board with the Guardian awarding it 5/5 (a ‘stunning, mercurial album’) while The Irish Times, The Observer, Q Magazine and Mojo all awarded it 4 stars. He was also one of only a handful of Irish artists to grace the Guardian's Top 100 songs of 2017 with his song Van Gogh's Ear. www.seamusfogarty.com Growing up in Mayo, Ireland, Maria Kelly spent many years crafting and developing her sound into a delicate blend of atmospheric-alt-folk. In 2016, Maria released Stitches (Veta Records), which was named one of ‘The 50 Best Tracks of 2016’ in The Irish Times. Maria went on to release her debut EP The Things I Should, followed by the haunting Double A Dark Places / Small Talk in April of this year. Maria has played numerous shows in both the UK and Ireland supporting James Vincent McMorrow, KT Tunstall, Billie Marten and Paul Noonan, as well as performances at the Great Escape Festival, Electric Picnic, the National Concert Hall and London’s Barbican. Maria was selected as ‘Listener’s Choice Artist’ in the Other Voices Open Call 2017. She travelled to Dingle to perform at Other Voices 2017 in the IMRO Other Room recordings, which were broadcast on RTE earlier this year. Maria is currently living in Berlin, working on new material and growing a European fanbase. www.mariakellymusic.com Beyond the chapel gates, the Other Voices Music Trail will feature an exciting and diverse line-up of performers, musicians, bands and DJs, plying their wares across the pubs and venues of Ballina on September 28th and 29th. Guaranteed quality new sounds for all ears and 100% free to enjoy. Venues and acts performing on the Music Trail will be announced in the coming weeks.   For the taste adventurers, the fifth Food Fleadh Ballina will run alongside Other Voices, promising four days of fresh, local, seasonal viands and vittles, with almost 100 chefs, bakers, brewers and producers showcasing the very best of Irish from September 27th to 30th at the Old Military Barracks, and other venues throughout the town. Music fans visiting for Other Voices will hit the culinary jackpot with the opportunity to take part in seafood foraging trips, cookery demonstrations, world foods, a craft beer and whiskey festival, Grow it Yourself workshops, a fabulous secret party to celebrate the close of the salmon season and much more.   Other Voices Ballina 2018 is made possible with the support and partnership of Mayo County Council, Mayo.ie, Ballina Chamber, Mayo North, Ballina.ie, Wild Atlantic Way, Coca Cola, Ballina Arts Centre, The Jackie Clarke Collection, Music Generation Mayo and Core Music Hub.

Flames to dust. Lovers to friends. Why do all good things come to an end? We don't know the answer to that question listeners but, in the case of The Great Escape Festival 2018, we're at least going to make sure it finishes with a bang. Today is our final episode of an amazing run, and we're lucky enough to be joined on the show by the simply brilliant Skinny Pelembe. He blew our socks off when we saw him for the first time here at TGE, and it turns out he's a bloody lovely guy too. Be sure to tune in to the chat and check out his ridiculously good tunes too. As is now tradition, we end the show with our Great Escape edition of The Tracks Awards, and we invited two friendly faces along to help us out. Lizzie Garrett and Emily Hogarth have graced the podcast before, and have been along with us for the ride over this weekend. With their assistance, we're handing out 4 'Best Of...' prizes. All that's left for us to say is a huge thank you to everyone who has listened over the last few days. To all of our guests. To all of our pals who we've hung out with along the way. And, most importantly, to everyone at The Great Escape and Borowski PR for making this all possible. It has been a dream. Three is, famously, the magic number, so we return this morning for the third episode of our run at this year's Great Escape Festival more determined than ever to sprinkle a little fairy dust into your ears. To help us do that, we invited two (yes, two!) amazing guests on to the show. First up, Her's. The spectacular dream-pop two-piece that have stolen the hearts of everyone who attended last night's Horatio's gig, and we were so delighted that they were able to find a little time in a jam-packed schedule to stop by and say hello. Next, it's Michael Jablonka. A name you'll definitely want to remember. His new single 'Flump' has been on almost constant rotation at Tracks HQ since it dropped a few weeks ago, and his chat is almost as good as his tunes. A big, massive thanks to both guests for giving up their precious time and this wonderful festival, and to you guys at home for listening. Big up, and we'll see you tomorrow. As the dust settles on The Great Escape for another year, we're back with our final episode from our latest festival run. Today we're lucky enough to be joined by this simply wonderful Jerry Williams. She stopped by Tracks HQ shortly before she took to the stage to play a packed out and frankly brilliant set at Jubilee Square, and was the dream guest.  Elsewhere in the show, we hand out our Tracks Awards, crown our kings and queens of TGE 2017 and generally mourn the end of an unbelievably brilliant weekend. Howlround are the duo of Robin The Fog and Chris Weaver who create recordings and performances entirely from manipulating natural acoustic sounds on a quartet of vintage reel-to-reel tape machines - with additional reverb or electronic effects strictly forbidden. This recording documents their first ever live performance at the Brighthelm Centre as part of the Resonance FM stage at the Great Escape Festival, Brighton, 18th May 2013. It was the first time these delicate, bulky, unpredictable machines had ever left the studio - a complete step into the unknown - and therefore something of an occasion. This recording is presented without edits or overdubs, just the sound of four machines, two people and a huge tangle of quarter-inch tape, looping and snarling precariously around the venue. Sahej Bakshi, a.k.a Dualist Inquiry, is first and foremost probably one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Aside from this he's also an extremely talented producer, guitarist and all round nice guy. Wait, did I already say that? Since returning to Delhi after completing his education at the Thornton Music School, L.A in March 2010, Sahej has been touring India extensively, in addition to being selected to perform at Berlin Music Week last year. Additionally, he was ranked #1 nationally in the Burn Sasha Tour remix competition (2010) and was the 2nd Runner Up in the MTV Submerge Ultimate Pro DJ Championship (2010), held at blueFROG in Mumbai. Most recently, Dualist Inquiry performed at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton UK, opening for hip-hop god DJ Shadow. Already tipped by many in the electronic music community to be a major presence for years to come, Dulaist Inquiry showed exactly what the fuss is all about on his debut EP Dualism which dropped on Audio Ashram earlier this year to crictial acclaim. Since then, there's been no looking back. Currently working on his debut LP due for release early next year and with remixes of Indian and foreign artists in the works, Sahej is completely focused on making music. In my mind, Dualist Inquiry will always stand out from the pack. A hugely talented producer, who uses his own style and personal obsessions to craft something beautifully unique... We're more than thrilled to have Dualist Inquiry open up the proceedings for us here at the Wild City with 25 minutes of completely original music, some of which has been specially crafted for this mix. If I was you, I'd file this next to Daft Punk, Justice and Ratatat. He's actually gone and set the bar pretty high with this one. If the standard of all the Wild City mixes to come in the future is anything like this, you're in for a treat!
