This is a shorter solo podcast, for those interested to know more about the producer of all of AdapNation’s COVID-19 and associated content, and how it’s done.  This episode is part confessional, part insight into how I work, and part instructional.   It’s great to see our content is helpful and valuable to so many in calibrating their knowledge and perspectives regarding COVID-19, human health and government public health interventions. More and more people are gaining the courage and confidence to share our evidence-based content, set up their own pages and even produce their own analysis. Amazing!  But, let’s be clear, we ALL have our biases. You can’t be human and not have your own worldview and biases, that inevitably act as both a map and a lens in which you evaluate and respond to reality. I (Steve) am no exception.  So, in an effort to be an open book to our supporters, new followers, and even sceptics of our work, I thought it would be only right to share my health-oriented worldview and known biases. Yep, it’s a laundry list! No doubt you would have experienced my biases in my work, so this is merely a confession to the fact I know that they exist and I try my best to mitigate them.  No one is immune to cognitive dissonance, me being no exception. The more open we can be about this, the better we can explore truth versus attempting to bend reality to match our expectations and beliefs of the world.  This episode will also let you in to how I further develop my my subject matter knowledge, how I research and investigate issues, how I prevent being in an echo chamber, my approach to content creation, the important aspects of statistician analysis and visualisation, and the common COVID-associated data sources AdapNation frequently use in our work.     The #BeYourBest Journey : https://adapnation.io/beyourbest-journey/ (£10 coupon BESTYEAR-2020)    Referenced AdapNation Resources: ▪︎ COVID+ Insights - the AdapNation in-context COVID dashboard  ▪︎ COVID Content - a collection of our best COVID content  ▪︎ AdapNation on Facebook - joint the community which reaches 1.5M+ people a month  ▪︎ About Steve Katasi   For the COVID-19 Official Data Sources we use: https://adapnation.io/151-covid-worldview-biases-approach     ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you like this and other AdapNation episodes, please don't forget to subscribe to the channel, as well as leaving a 5 star review and letting friends and family know of this Podcast on Social Media.   AdapNation Useful Links: The #BeYourBest Self-Optimisation Journey  ■ Social - Instagram & Facebook & Tons of Free Website Content  ■ #HyperWorkouts - Expertly written Gym Workout Plans, with video guides, print-outs & HeavySet import  ■ AdapNation Butler - An Online Personal Assistant that can inspire easy and tasty Home-cooking  ■ AdapNation Food Diary - 100’s of Tasty Healthy Meal Ideas, that are focussed on helping you thrive

Dear Subscribers of the Soul Care Conversation Podcast: Welcome to a new season—we sure need a new season, don’t we!  For the next 14 weeks, I (Steve) will be your host and we will be talking about the issues surfacing in our hearts in anxious times. 14 podcasts—14 topics—14 weeks for you and friends to listen, glean, process and work through. We’ve made this season to fit more of a contemplative theme… knowing that through all the action we are taking politically, racially, economically, and relationally we need to find ways to cocoon, to reflect, think, and process. I hope these podcasts in particular will become a great source of encouragement. Friends, these are ideal conversations for you to consider listening to with a friend or perhaps in a small group. More than just a curriculum, this is a spark to get a deeper conversation going—a conversation that is below the waterline—a conversation the soul needs to have to thrive. In addition, I am proud and happy to share that if you are a patron—and if not,  I hope you will become one, especially after me sharing this with you—that in each podcast we are making available a TRANSCRIPT for you to read and reflect on. Underline, circle or put question marks when you find yourself wondering what I meant or wanting more clarification. We’ve also including a 5-minute story from a person who has been sitting on the potter’s wheel and is sharing their own story of what they experienced and the benefits of sitting at the potter’s wheel. This first podcast is on Exhaustion.  I get real. I make it personal. I do this to present my own confession to be a portal into your own story.  My story is different. My story is not unique, however. I believe one of the diagnosis' of the soul for so many is utter and complete exhaustion.  Rather than offer a left brain, 7 steps to Avoid Exhaustion :-) - I chose to be confessional and more right brain/ non-linear to help you think through your own dashboard, to see if exhaustion might fit as an adjective you would use to describe your soul. By the way, what are the four words you’d use right now to describe the state of your soul? Listen. Reflect. Ponder. Marinate. Be blessed! Steve _____________________________________________________________ SHOW NOTES This week’s episode is Steve sharing his recent struggles with exhaustion… that deep in the heart, soul weary exhaustion that many of us are struggling with right now. Negative Funks and Harmful Rumination - I’m not immune to these toxic states and thoughts, even when I know better! I (Steve) keep my guard low on this show generally, and have no issue exposing my struggles and weaknesses for us all to learn from. But, there’s being open and relaxed, and then there is being truly transparent. Completely letting your guard down, and letting the raw and ugly truth come out.   In this episode with Bryn Jenkins, this is exactly what I did. It was like therapy - a session on the ‘Dr Jenkins’ couch!  I wanted to air this chat, because we all want to show the world that we’ve got our shit together. To downplay the negative and ugly aspects of our personality and behaviours. But, here’s the thing - we can’t complete avoid periods of negative mindsets. Not even self-optimising Mr #BeYourBest!  We can’t always be happy, even though that’s the dream - the societal expectation. Being unhappy is seen as a failure, yet in spite of many low moments, people achieve the most incredible lives. What gives?  What I think you’ll find interesting in this chat was the on-the-mic realisation that I am likely deficient in some Psychological Nutrients. And that, there is a of Self-Sabotage in all of us.   I know better - mentally, academically and through personal experience, and yet I allow myself to to brew negativity and harmful non-productive thoughts from time to time. In this shorter episode, I share with you how I am going about losing 13lbs in 5 weeks, whilst retaining my muscle mass and getting photoshoot ready.  As always, it’s a transparent and honest insight into my experiences, and not just some theory on how to lose weight. Paul is a resident writer for T-Nation, with 5+ years of world class writing under his belt, including several books and pieces for M&F and Flex. Paul has been training with intent for 30+ years, has powerlifted for a decade, and has developed both an enviable bodybuilding knowledge-base and physique. What Paul Carter doesn’t know about the gym and developing your physique… isn’t worth knowing. Most interestingly, he’s committed to a life of Wellness AND developing Size for the last four years, and describes this change as a massive paradigm shift for himself. This is a great episode, as Steve gets SCHOOLED… several times throughout the chat. You need these conversations. To test you understanding of the world, and a willingness to change your view or beliefs if someone gives you great reasons to. That’s what Paul did today, I (Steve) am incredibly grateful for Paul’s care to call BS on some ideas I’ve been exploring, as well as some of my recent decisions. Muscle building is very nuanced and individual, but some things are too compelling to not pay closer attention to. This is a cracker! Danny Penman is considered one of the best meditation and mindfulness teachers globally, with 1.5 million+ copies sold of his best selling book Mindfulness: A Practical Guide to Finding Peace in a Frantic World, and his materials used to teach schools, universities and hospitals around the world. As an award winning journalist, meditation teacher and best selling author, Danny has a unique perspective on the value and impact of meditation. Moreover, his personal discovery of the power of mindfulness is both shocking and inspiring. And let’s face it, the global mental health issues are escalating, due to the mounting stress-induing triggers in our lifestyles, and the lack of sufficient prioritisation for breathing, calmness and mindfulness. Mindfulness is clinically proven to be one of the most effective treatments for anxiety, stress and depression. It is also widely accepted that Meditation and time away from rumination frees our mind to think of new solutions, be more compassionate and have deeper levels of gratitude. For these reasons, and the fact that I (Steve) am on my own early journey of discovering a better life through meditation and mindfulness, I thought it would be an amazing opportunity to get some direct coaching from THE meditation guy.    Full Show Notes of what we discussed - https://adapnation.io/99-meditation-penman/ AdapNation Article on Mindfulness: https://adapnation.io/the-art-of-mindfulness/   Where to find DANNY PENMAN and his work: ▪︎ His Books - Mindfulness: A Practical Guide to Finding Peace in a Frantic World, The Art Of Breathing and more! ▪︎ Free Getting Started Meditation - http://franticworld.com/aob/ ▪︎ The Website - http://franticworld.com ▪︎ Social - Twitter (@drdannypenman), Instagram (@drdannypenman) and LinkedIn (Dr Danny Penman)    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you like this and other AdapNation episodes, please don't forget to subscribe to the channel, as well as leaving a 5 star review and letting friends and family know of this Podcast on Social Media.   AdapNation Useful Links: ■ The Art of Mindfulness - a great article on the AdapNation website ■ AdapNation Website - Where you will find articles, videos and journals on all things wellness, training and mindset ■ Facebook Community - To get into conversation with like-minded folk wanting to be their best ■ AdapNation Instagram - To see what’s going on in our world across business, training and family ■ Steve’s Body & Mind Progress Journals - Follow Steve’s real-world progress, following all the principles within the Podcasts

With 22+ years experience and wisdom, Sal combines forces with Adam and Justin to make the most entertaining, original, raw and real podcast on all things to do with getting in shape, sharpening your mindset, being well and generally navigating modern life. Mind Pump & Sal inspired AdapNation’s creation, so it was a true privilege to be speaking with one of the Podcast Host greats. You’ll probably sense some of Steve’s fan boy love coming through!   We cover sooooo much in this chat. The theme of the discussion is really about finding a place of intuitive wellness and wellbeing, and Sal navigating us through his learning and journey from an muscle-obsessed kid through to a jacked but ill 30 year old, and now to having the whole package of physique, wisdom and great health. Sal drops so many pearls of wisdom. You’ll love his appreciation for traditional wisdom, his intuitive approach to wellness, and his great analogies.   DISCLAIMER: Steve was REALLY ill at time of recording. Energy was a little low as a result. We used this episode to unpack what might be going on given his recent diet interventions. It was pretty fascinating to discuss and explore with the audience and Sal - and goes to show the value of being open minded, being comfortable being vulnerable, and seeking opinions from others.  P.S. I (Steve) was back to full strength shortly after recording, bar the weird persistent hand peeling thing. I changed nothing at all. Odd - or just a flu/virus thing that came out of nowhere. Greetings, Citizens! Dan here.  I don't mean to show favoritism, but this bonus episode is for the rabid Star Wars fans that can't get enough of the just released Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker teaser trailer. Sure it was only 2 minutes long, but that didn't stop special guest Johnny Bucks and I (Steve sat this one out) from breaking it down scene by scene. Listen in as we give our thoughts on the brand new teaser trailer. * This was recorded just a couple of hours after the release of the trailer. It only happened because I needed to get my thoughts out immediately. Keep in mind that after a little time and MANY more viewings, my thoughts have changed on certain things and of course I have a million more questions and theories. Make no mistake that I'll address them at a later time. Take it all with a grain of salt and understand that emotions were raw and most certainly fresh. Besides, this is free and it's all out of love. Thanks to Johnny Bucks for sitting in and getting nerdy with me when I needed it most. Alright, people. Let's do this. Let's talk some Star Wars! Join us in conversation with Catherine Barnes. I (Steve) first met Catherine at a dialog and facilitation retreat in rural Myanmar. I was struck by the degree of presence that she bought to her work, mentoring and accompanying an emerging generation of positive change makers in that fascinating yet troubled country. Catherine is a rare breed of scholar practitioner. Her work is deeply grounded in decades of field work across thirty countries, while her research and writing covering topics of facilitation, dialog, activism, and social justice blends a high level of insight with accessibility. She is faculty member of the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding at Eastern Mennonite University and freelance peace researcher and practitioner, particularly as concerns dialog and facilitation techniques across conflict divides. Her comments in this episode are so relevant to our times. She describes our “addiction to coercion”, whereby we – internationally and domestically – try to compel others to accept our goals and points of view rather than expending our efforts and resources on collaborative activity for the greater good. She relates this to the increasing polarisation that we are experiencing domestically and internationally, and how we have in the past, and can in the future, find ways back through dialog and collaborative action. Catherine demystifies peace processes that are designed and implemented to end civil wars, drawing on examples from Tajikistan, Sierra Leone, Bosnia and elsewhere, and tracing the path from elite lead peace agreements to more the more inclusive peace processes of modern times. This conversation takes place against a backdrop of the increasing complexity of local and global forces that shape civil war conflicts, which renews calls that peace needs to be grown organically from within an affected society, not implanted in the form of blueprints from outsiders. Take a listen, and check out the show notes for a detailed summary and Catherine's bio: https://www.susancoleman.global/sn033-catherine-barnes

UPDATE: Ryan posted this episode on TGP and we took some hits for it. It got reposted and here's the result. At the time of the interview I (Steve) was only aware of the Axis wah issues (Ryan had completely forgotten about it), and not everything else that was detailed in Mason's TGP confession here. Shortly after that, Michael Landau (who was mentioned in the episode) made the following post here, and Vertex's story about board assembly is refuted here. Joe Bonamassa also has a story to tell here. There's also some back and forth on another site here. There are some really big red flags here that we weren't fully aware of. In the eyes of those who were involved with his past, Vertex/Mason is not a brand that should ever be trusted by the gear world. Those of you who are long time listeners know that we consistently err on giving someone a second chance when it comes to reforming their brand. For those who got burned, or watched others get burned in this debacle, the second, third, fourth, etc. chances have all been spent. Apple is rumored to be readying an update for the Apple Watch and Apple TV featuring TV Kit (http://9to5mac.com/2015/05/18/apple-readies-first-significant-apple-watch-updates-tvkit-sdk-for-apple-tv/). We complain about arranging Apple Watch apps which is the firstest of world problems (http://www.imore.com/how-rearrange-apps-your-apple-watch). A 15-inch MacBook Pro with Force Touch may not be long off, as well as a 27-inch iMac update (http://9to5mac.com/2015/05/18/new-15-inch-macbook-pro-imac-27/). The first trailer for "Steve Jobs" with Michael Fassbender is out so we can argue about another biopic, yay (http://variety.com/2015/film/news/steve-jobs-trailer-michael-fassbender-aaron-sorkin-1201499261/). Clearly, it's no "iSteve" (http://www.macworld.com/article/2035456/review-funny-or-dies-isteve-will-tickle-apple-fans.html). But it'll be better than "jOBS" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gq5q9aoZi4s). In Episode 20 - Investing for uncertainty I outline the approach that I (Steve) will be taking to navigate the near future. I am not a speculator but with interest rates on certificates of deposit near zero and the dollar in jeopardy I've moved into more non-traditional markets. This podcast has a slow start because I go from reading 'Goodnight Moon' and Thomas and the Big Big Bridge' to walking into my office and recording 'Two Beers With Steve'. Enjoy. For those that are concerned I have moved my personal financial files to a thumb drive and I lock that thumb drive in a firesafe, I will move it to the safety deposit box next time I make the run.
