On This episode we address basic information on the SARS COV-2 /COVID19 infodemic/pandemic that is literally consuming our country and the world. When I was a new flight nurse, I had a mentor that taught me off of one basic, yet crucial, principle: "DON'T LET DISTRACTORS DISTRACT YOU!" Our mental and physical wellness are what is most important and to achieve that we must be very mindful of our actions, reactions, and the things we choose to believe. Not all information you hear and see out there is true. If we focus on the negative, we will only see the negative. In these times of uncertainty, no one really knows what to do; however, it is our obligation to only share from reliable resources, remain calm, control what is in our power, and BE SMART about it all while remaining compassionate and showing love. So while the world does seem to be in a crisis, remember to keep sight of the things that are true, that are important, and meaningful part of your life. Find ways to turn the negatives into positives and let us all work together to develop a more resilient mindset and practical ways to continue on. We are an evolutionary species, and this is a time for an evolution of many things on this planet and in ourselves. Stay Safe and above all STAY SMART! I am super pumped about this episode today. My guest is good friend and fellow Marine Savannah Cannon. I served with Savannah in 2007-11 and I wanted to bring her on so that she could talk more about her upcoming book, Breaking Innocents. When Savannah originally released it I could not put it down. Savannah’s book is unique, serious… there is nothing out there like it. I describe it as Jarhead meets Fifty Shades of Grey. And what I found the most interesting was that I saw a lot of me in her initial stages of joining the military. I appreciated how she paints herself as the antihero, but I think that it’s very special in that you get to have this unique perspective of what it is like to be a female in the military. It is well written, and a lot of what she has experienced throughout her life is still relevant and powerful today. If you enjoyed this episode, please follow, like and share it with your friends, and give us a review on our podcast. What would you do if you got divorced after 30 years? What would happen if you were diagnosed with cancer and the doctor told you that you had DAYS to live? At its root, we can all rise against the odds if we take responsibility for our lives and live in our purpose. Mindset is everything, and when we have nothing left to lose is when we find the strength and courage to keep fighting. In today’s episode, Sarah speaks with Dean and Bobbi Parker-Hall about how the struggles in their lives have led them to find infinite strength and the willpower to rise above what seemed like impossible odds. Bobbi Hall grew up in foster care and was lucky to make it out alive. After leaving a 30-year marriage, she finally decided to do something for herself. At 56 Bobbi’s transformation showed when she placed 2nd at her first bikini competition. From there, Bobbi continued to unlock her potential and founded Modern Bodies, a science-based program designed and infused with a mind, body, spirit approach for the modern woman that sees herself staying strong, sexy and active well into her later years. Dean Hall’s story began after he married his college sweetheart. After years of having a successful personal and professional life, Dean’s life flipped upside down after his wife passed away in less than two months after her diagnosis. Soon after, Dean was told that he had days to live after being diagnosed with lymphoma and leukemia. After learning about his condition, Dean decided that he wasn’t going out without a fight. That is when Dean decided to leave a legacy for his daughter and became the first person in history to swim the entire 184 miles of the Willamette River in Oregon. After being told that his cancer was incurable, Dean is now cancer-free and inspires others to not give up and wholeheartedly pursue their passion. Both Bobbi and Dean talk about their journey, explain the importance of not letting your circumstances define you, and tell their story of how finding meaning in their life helped them to heal from trauma and reach new depths mentally, physically, and spiritually. Did you know you have an innate capability to generate forces to create anything your brain can imagine? How does the earth manage to thrive through recycling resources in or order to continue to provide us with nutrients, oxygen, and water? How do some of the most successful people become so successful? How did some of the most historic moments and legacies on this planet get to be so compelling for centuries beyond their time? They all have to do with connection!!! Meaningful connections with those around us make up the one of the most powerful forces steering the quality of life. Connection is not just a human "want," it is an actual need. It is necessary for survival of humanity and all species. Along with connection, compassion plays a key role in the development of resilience in individuals. Strong bonds and connections promote your immunity and longevity. Conversely, the lack of connection and compassion lead to suffering on a global level by increasing the incidence of anxiety, depression, and suicide. Connection is one super power that we are all born capable of, but it takes courage and compassion to harness it. Making strong and meaningful connections is known to boost success in many areas of life and it is imperative we become more proactive on gaining ownership of the connections in our lives. On this episode, Past The Threshold brings you multiple examples and compelling statistics on connection. Topics and important figures in this episode include: Zen Buddhist Teacher Joan Halifax, Navy Seal Kwong Weng, American billionaire investor and philanthropist Ray Dalio, and the National Geographic's "One Strange Rock." Netflix's "The People Vs. O.J. Simpson," and Ava DuVernay's "When They See Us" also gain mention as we touch on correctional nursing and emotionality in the justice system during this episode.

Nothing great or exceptional ever started as such. In order to grow, reach and pass limits in our lives, we must make friends with fear and embrace this one simple fact... In the beginning of any new endeavor, we are gonna suck! It is important we realize that this is entirely normal, part of the process, and one hundred percent a natural process. We weren't born running laps around the track, first we had to gain strength, then learn how to balance, then hold our selves up, then stand, then walk, and then finally run. It is repetition, persistence, and determination that will forge our craft into a masterful beauty. In this episode your hosts discuss this very concept and also share experiences that have lead them to growth, stopped them from growth, and just some massive screw ups that test us but make our journey colorful and rich... in hindsight! Also, we share an intro to our upcoming Women's Empowerment event "Weld Like A Girl." Stay tuned on our social media platforms. You won't want to miss it!!!
