Welcome back Colorado MMA Fans! It is finally fight week again with LFA 97 going down this Friday night and the UFC returning to action on Saturday followed by another event on Wednesday. Three Colorado fighters will get back to action at LFA on Friday night and many more new fights have been announced. So let's take a look at all the upcoming mma action in our Weekend Preview. Michael Stack (4-1) of Trials MMA will step back into the Cage at LFA 97 on Friday night when he takes on Jordan Mapa (3-2) in a featherweight contest. Michael Stack is coming into this fight after the first loss of his career his last time out in what was a fight of the night performance. Since then, in addition to working hard at his home gym, he has been also been working out with renowned coach John Wood and the Syndicate MMA team in Las Vegas ahead of this fight. 3 out Stack's 4 pro wins have come by way of early stoppage. So you won't want to miss this one. Additionally on the card will be Claire “Grizzly” Guthrie (1-1) of Elevation Fight Team as she takes on Nadine Mandiau (1-1) in a flyweight contest. You can watch the fights live on UFC Fight Pass with the main card starting at 7:00 pm MST. Then on Wednesday, Neil “The Haitian Sensation” Magny (24-7) of Elevation Fight Team will look to make it 4 wins in a row when he takes on Michael Chiesa (16-4) in a showdown of top welterweights. Magny is going into his fight with Chiesa after a victory over the former champion, Robbie Lawler his last time out. You can watch Magny scrap live on ESPN + with bouts starting at 4:00 pm MST. And in new matchup announcements… It was announced that on Friday, January 29th, Josh Fremd (6-1) of Factory X will headline the LFA 98 show in Kansas when he takes on Bruno Oliveira (8-2) in a light heavyweight matchup. Fremd scored a highlight reel knockout his last time out. Additionally fighting on the card will be Matt “Monster” Paul (3-2) of 10th Planet Denver as he takes on Joshua DaSilveria, also at light heavyweight. A 3rd Colorado based light heavyweight will also compete on the LFA 98 card as Zac Pauga (1-0) of Elevation Fight Team and a regular training partner for UFC heavyweight contenders, Alistair Overeem and Curtis Blaydes will face Ashby Thomas (1-0) in a matchup at 205 lbs. Happy Friday Colorado MMA Fans, this weekend is an active one for Colorado fighters in the UFC as two Factory X athletes head to the Apex Center in Las Vegas for another UFC Fight Night. Coming off of an impressive unanimous decision victory on the Dana White Contender Series back in August, Dustin Jacoby of Factory X will start his climb up the UFC light heavyweight division on Saturday night when he takes on Justin Ledet in a meeting at 205 lbs. Jacoby is a Glory Kickboxing veteran and will bring his well rounded game and sharp standup to the UFC light heavy weight division at a time when the divisions' championship title seems more attainable than ever. Joining his Factory X teammate on the card will be Alexander Hernandez (11-3) who will compete for the first time with Factory X in his corner when he takes on fellow UFC lightweight, Chris Gruetzemacher (14-3) in a battle at 155 lbs. 
Hernandez is 3-2 overall in the UFC and is a powerful, athletic young fighter with a grappling background that has been sharpening his hands and footwork under the tutelage of Marc Montoya. His fight videos can be found on google by searching “Dylan King MMA”. 2:45- King and Patton both became fans of MMA after watching the first season of The Ultimate Fighter. 3:48- “You’re always nervous I think going into the fight, I think the nerves are good, they keep you on your edge, they keep you focused.” (King) 6:01- Patton believes that Gilbert Smith is one of the best coaches he has ever had, Smith is King’s head coach at Victory MMA. He has been working with King nearly everyday for the last three years. 8:17- Gilbert “Chocolate Thunder” Smith appeared on Season 18 & 25 of The Ultimate Fighter. 11:43- King enjoys watching Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone fight and has been a fan before he made it to the UFC. 16:54- The effects of fame on young athletes and celebrities seems to have its own set of problems and challenges. 18:57- Patton and King agree that Israel Adesanya is handling fame well and playing the game smart. 21:09- Patton is a big fan of Paulo Costa because he does ice baths regularly and will shake around in them to make it feel even colder. 25:20- “I was the epitome of average, but I still wanted it.” (Patton) 27:27- “Fighting takes up a lot of my brain space.” (King) 32:49- “I don’t know why slaps don’t happen more often.” (Patton) 35:01- The experience of physical combat helps one to get to know themselves. King believes that training MMA is a form of therapy. 38:29- The philosophy that movement is medicine is discussed in depth as our society continues to eat terrible foods and sit for longer periods of time. King and Patton both recommend running over walking to gain results faster. 41:43- “Even the opportunity to work is a blessing.” (Patton) 43:53- One of Patton’s goals is to improve his communication and promote self awareness in others. 45:46- Patton uses Instacart as his preferred grocery delivery service to save time and enjoy the process of cooking his own food. He saves 3 works days per month by avoiding going to the grocery store. 48:06- King & Patton both will decompress and relax in the evening after a long day by playing video games for about an hour. 50:12- King practices Hot Yoga at Hot On Yoga in Colorado Springs, Colorado. 54:01- The approach of not rushing and getting a really good stretch post workout is emphasized by Patton. Acosta is in the same situation, moving from Houston, Texas to the mountains of Colorado. 2:04- It has been over a year and a half since Acosta has fought or competed in the Mixed Marital Arts world.  He has currently been in the Twitch streaming business with his gaming channel, DaveX2. Every month, his channel grows in views and is 5-6 average viewers under certified partner level. He goes live Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings. 6:13- Acosta chuckles at the chaos of seeing his five year old son, David and the fourteen other kinder-garden students attempting to go through school in a zoom meeting. 8:00- Patton joined Victory MMA to train with Gilbert Smith just before COVID-19 happened. 12:22- Almost every morning, Patton will play close to an hour of Call of Duty and drink coffee to get pumped up for the day ahead. Acosta enjoys an hour bike ride daily for mental health. He rides a Felt Z100 Road Bike. 17:45- Acosta’s wife works in law enforcement as an Emergency Services Therapist, he believes that therapy can be very beneficial. 20:30- Patton found it in his best interest to move to Colorado to avoid being arrested for Cannabis in Texas. 23:09- The topic of Cannabis decriminalization is something they both find very important, especially being daily smokers. 27:52- One of the biggest reasons for moving to Colorado from Houston was because David’s wife, Jocelyn almost accidentally died after her heart stopped while being tested for allergies. 30:33- Acosta is in the top .3% of the entire streaming world. 34:16- Patton describes his teams reaction to his newest production in the Sheath Underwear collection, the Horizontal Fly. 39:00- Patton has been a fan of MMA for over two decades. 43:19- After nearly fifteen years of training MMA, Acosta now sticks to weight lifting and cycling, and includes an ice bath three times per week for recovery. 47:00- A few weeks ago during a 45 mile bike ride, Acosta had to bike the last 15 miles in black smoke because of a raging wildfire nearby. 54:51- Acosta laughs at himself because of how fast his pace was for the last 15 miles during the wildfire and tells himself he has so much more in him for his future rides. 59:30- Patton is finally feeling acclimated to living in the mountains with an elevation around 9,000 feet. 1:01:09- The only supplements that Acosta takes for his training is a Pre and Post Workout from Purus Labs. 1:03:28- Patton is going to have a social media content consolation with Acosta in the next week or so.

They now have a solid working relationship. 20:25- After multiple revenue streams dried up while living in the East Village, Mike finds himself at the end of his lease with not enough money to stay in the area. He left the majority of his belongings at his brothers house and on April 1st, woke up homeless on his friend Caleb Rupert’s couch and read a text that a friend he grew up with had over dosed. 22:22- After working with Luis J. Gomez, Harrington began to get more side work that would supplement his income. He then started working with Joe DeRosa on the Without A Country Podcast. He was still homeless for over six months but continued to do his side work and character building. 25:15- Harrington got charged with a felony for having brass knuckles at the airport. 27:28- Diego Lopez taught Harrington a lesson in the MMA gym when he explained that because he didn’t have training, he would be more wild and might have to be put in check. The conditioning training makes Harrington want to puke after he has blown his gas tank. 30:00- Patton wants to start having local athletes, Victory MMA train at his home in Woodland Park, Colorado. 33:08- Harrington and Patton agree that there is nothing better than having your goal written on the calendar and then having determination to get after it. 38:00- Patton and Harrington are both huge fans of upcoming UFC Star, Bryce Mitchell from Arkansas. 46:00- The popular vote in politics is discussed and the impressions they have of the system at large. 47:41- Patton tells a heart felt story of leaving San Antonio in 2015 to return to Colorado Springs to take care of his sick ex wife and be there for his daughter. 51:09- The impact of the COVID 19 virus effected Harrington and Patton in different ways. 54:40- Civil service pay and universal basic income are two ideas that Patton and Harrington support. 58:12- Patton explains how much the United States Army helped him from going nowhere fast, to becoming self sufficient. 1:01:23- Patton believes that most young people nowadays have not been through enough challenges and that it has made them soft in ways. 1:02:45- The story of Hercules is mentioned as something that could inspire young people to get more tough and step up to adversity. Harrington has stayed tough by doing Tough Mudder and also live fights at SkankFest. 1:06:35- Harrington tells the story of him being at Comedy Fight World in Philadelphia and doing DMT with Matt and Shane from Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast. 1:13:32- Patton drops some wisdom on Harrington who in only 32 and says ‘whenever I was drinking too much I was less pleasant.’  Harrington admits that he quit drinking at age 19 after having a terrible experience with it. He now drinks two gallons of water a day. 1:16:23- Harrington states that New York entertainment scene used more psychedelics during the quarantine. 1:18:55- Harrington doesn’t have a desire to be a performer but will continue to do produce comedy, he is currently helping produce for Without A Country Podcast.

Joseph Galaviz of Pariah MMA fought on Friday night for the Fighting Alliance Championship In Missouri, and he put on a great performance for as long as the fight lasted. Unfortunately, the bout ended as a no-contest after an accidental eye poke that saw Galaviz's opponent unable to continue. Keep an eye out for what's next for Joseph Galaviz. Sparta Combat League returned to action on Saturday night with an event full oof mixed martial arts, including featured bare-knuckle MMA bouts in the main and co-main event. Michael “Bolo” Santos of Elevation Fight Team and Muay Thai of Colorado put on an incredible show in the main event. Santos won the fight by unanimous decision after a bloody three-round affair, earning his first bare-knuckle victory and his third overall as a pro. In the co-main event of the evening, Andy Perez defeated Derek Perez by side choke in the first-ever sanctioned bare-knuckle MMA fight in US history. Congratulations to both Sparta and Andy for the historic performances. And in a featured bout of the evening, Zac Haynes of Bring It Back Boxing secured the Sparta amateur bantamweight championship belt with an incredible Omaplata submission finish. Congratulations to the new champ! Other winners on the night included: Figueroa defeated Robinson by unanimous decision in a boxing match. Chris Arena defeated Egos by unanimous decision in a kickboxing match. Namir Singleton of Victory MMA defeated Cathcart by rear-naked choke submission in an MMA fight. Rivera of Victory MMA defeated Davis by split decision in an MMA fight. Khortni Kamyron defeated Ciesnolevicz by unanimous decision in a boxing match. Steve Lontine of AFA boxing defeated Pozos by unanimous decision. Acosta defeated Trujillo by KO in a boxing match. Elias Rodriguez of High Altitude Martial Arts defeated Haile via TKO in a kickboxing bout. Maliah Paculan defeated Caldwell by unanimous decision in a boxing match. And Orenlas defeated Bustamente by unanimous decision in the opening boxing match of the night. Congratulations to all of the winners! And in new matchup announcements… It was revealed over the weekend that Brandon Royval (11-4) of factory X has earned Co-Main Event billing at the UFC's Fight Island PPV event, UFC 253, Adesanya vs Costa, taking place on September 26th. An incredible opportunity for the surging flyweight in just his 2nd UFC fight. Additionally, Royval's Factory X teammate, Dustin Jacoby (12-5), fresh off of his win on the Contender Series, will now face Justin Ledet at UFC Fight Night on October 31st.
