Also known as Nightmares in a Damaged Brain, 1981's Nightmare is a splatter-slasher that occupies a special place on the infamous Video Nasties list. Join Juliet and Theresa to talk about this low budget classic, it's under-celebrated lead actor and why sometimes you don't need a super fancy restoration of every film.Further Reading:[Butcher Block] The True Gore Nightmare of ‘Nightmare' by Megan Navarro (Bloody Disgusting)CW/TW: mental illness and mental healthSupport us on Patreon!Theme music: "Book of Shadows" by Houseghost (Rad Girlfriend Records) Hosted on Acast. It's another big hitter episode but not as we know it. Over the past year I have been putting this show together, knowing that time will be short for me come spooky season. So I compiled my favourite parts from the video nasty series of the top tier,  successfully prosecuted films over on Patreon & have put them in order of my least favourite to the movie that I think is the best. All the nasties with a total of 19 guests, a silly amount of booze & the filthiest 39 movies that you ever would see.1.28 - The Ghastly Ones aka Blood Rites (w/ Lono)27.57 - Gestapo's Last Orgy38.16 - Don't Go in the Woods... Alone (w/ Choff)55.47 - Nightmares in a Damaged Brain aka Nightmare (w/ Dan Martin)1.31.14 - Anthropophagus aka The Beast (w/ Dennis Merklinghaus)Between the interview segments there are various clips from an incredibly important documentary which is actually an episode from the BBC series 'Open Space' in which the public made programmes under their own editorial control. It's an episode called 'Suitable for Viewing in the Home?' from 1984. This gives some detailed context to pretty much all the conversations for this episode.

Video Nasties Month just got nastier… And sleazier… And bloodier… This week on The Blind Rage Podcast, Tony and I sit down to watch Romano Scavolini's 1981 splatterfest NIGHTMARE a.k.a. NIGHTMARES IN A DAMAGED BRAIN. Steeped in controversy, this slice of acquired taste is remembered by many horror fans due to its excessive gore, censorship, and false accusations of Tom Savini being part of the crew. Aside from that, there isn't much going on here. The storyline is quite thin. A maniac escapes from an institution and goes on a killing spree, which leads him to Florida, where a woman who may or not be his ex-wife, and children who may or may not be his offspring, currently reside. I consider this to be in the same box as A SERBIAN FILM. Something for those who fancy themselves hardcore genre fans to see simply to satisfy their own morbid curiosity. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/blindragepod/message

*SUK*... Tusind tak for denne gang, kære VHS-venner. Vores statsautoriserede revisor (aka.

Welcome to the first instalment of our sub-set of show exclusively looking at the Slasher Collection releases of 88 Films. 88 Films have, for the last 3 years or so, have been on a tear releasing a torrent of Slasher Classics in high definition. I have been purchasing them and it should be no surprise to anyone, I have left them pretty much unwatched (what can I say...I'm a compulsive collector). In order to watch the movies I buy, and of course create some quality content for you all Under the Stairs, I will be running through each of the movies on this bonus series between 1-2movies a month depending on the TPUTS schedule. So strap yourself in for a rollercoaster ride of blades, masks, hairspray, blood, boobs, crimes against fashion and dialogue to make you CRINGE!! Disc 12 is a notorious Video Nasty which saw its distributor do hard time for peddling what the government saw a obscenity. Unlike the last title on the slasher classics list, Nightmares in a Damaged Brain (1981) controversially claimed that Tom Savini was the effects guru helming all the gory effects in the movie even though he refutes that claim to this day. Let’s see what Duncan makes of this “Slasher Classic”. The grading follows the Netflix rating style of 1 = Hated It, 2 = Didn’t Like It, 3 = Liked It, 4 = Really Liked It & 5 = Loved It Nightmares in a Damaged Brain: Duncan: 4.5 Up next on the Slasher Classic Series is Disc 13 - Children of the Corn BUY OFFICIAL TPUTS MERCH FROM http://tputscast.bigcartel.com Check out the show on iTunes, TuneIn & on Stitcher Radio. Does this video nasty still have an impact? How does it rate alongside similiar films like "Maniac" and "Don't Go into the House"? Is it a piece of shit like Tom Savini claims, whenever he's denying his involement on the film? All of this and slightly more! After a traumatic brain injury, it sometimes happens that the brain can repair itself, building new brain cells to replace damaged ones. But the repair doesn't happen quickly enough to allow recovery from degenerative conditions like motor neuron disease (also known as Lou Gehrig's disease or ALS). Siddharthan Chandran walks through some new techniques using special stem cells that could allow the damaged brain to rebuild faster.
