Ginny Maccoll, 73, has an unusual hobby. She competes in Ninja Warrior competitions. Last year, the Guinness World Book of Records named her the oldest female to compete. Though physically quite active from the time she was born, and a proficient dancer, it wasn't until her daughter became a Ninja competitor that Ginny started believing that she might be able to do that, too. She also competes nationally at the Sr. Olympics swim team. Ginny started dancing in 3rd grade and moved from Tennessee to New York City to embark on a professional career in dance culminating in performing in the hit Broadway Show, Pippin, in 1974. This led her to roles on TV commercials, having her own radio show and appearing in a film with Diane Keaton. Ginny's view of aging is to keep trying to do more. Keep challenging your body and your brain." You get one obstacle after another and you can't let it surprise you. We have to keep moving so our moving parts don't rust."Connect with Ginny:Instagram: @ginnymaccollFacebook: ginnymaccoll

A lot of people think being a professional tango dancer means getting paid to do what you love. And in some ways, it is.But in this episode, I talk about the side most people don't see—the pressure to always be “on,” the burnout, the financial stress, and the constant effort it takes to keep going. I also share why I was hesitant to go down this path, how I ended up here anyway, and what I've learned along the way.If you've ever wondered what it's really like to make tango your career—or what it costs to keep the passion alive—this one's for you. It's hard to be objective about your own dancing. That's where I come in. Send me your dance videos through IMSO Tango School Online, and I'll point out what's working (and what's not) with clear, constructive feedback.
Dancing is a much loved form of expression, so it makes sense that many would want to pursue it as a career. However, with thousands of people auditioning for the same jobs, rejection is more common than success. Joshua Pollack talks to several dancers – from those just starting out to Radio City Rockettes – about the ups and downs of this profession.
