Author, Motivational Speaker and Mentor Kandice Stover joins us to talk about "the Mother Wound." We have identified this as emotional scarring from certain aspects stemming from a relationship with a mother that appear differently with each person who has this wound. Kandice shares her story, how she recovered, what the other side it like and direction on how to get there. Who Is She? Not what She Is. As humans we tend to focus more on our WHAT versus our WHY. What we have accomplished often shapes our identity. When introduced to you, she wants you to be more interested in Who She Is rather than her many accolades. She is Light. Her name Kandice actually means Light. Light gives us the ability to see. Light is symbolic for guidance; Light represents hope, newness, and a new day. Light signifies knowledge or wisdom. Light is high energy. Light is happy – excited – fun – productive – growing. She is knowledge. Her passion for adding to knowledge and dispersing knowledge, advice, and resources fuels Her reason for being – it is Her purpose. She is Service. She embodies giving of Her time, talent, and resources to help people who are like her – people who seek elevation – those who seek transformation – those who may have needed redemption at some point in their life. She sees us all as One. All with the same mission – to accomplish our purpose. Life is the best teacher; thus, knighting her as an experience expert. What better group to connect to, relate to, teach, and help than those who share similar experiences? She is Healing. Her natural born gift to heal, Her intuitive nature, and Her heart for people implanted Her desire to make people and situations better. She believes there is healing for every undesired condition. She is Solutions. Solutions and Healing can be seen as synonymous. Every problem, every challenge has a Solution – an answer, a way to overcome. She looks at every situation and asks, “How Can I Make This Better?” She believes in better; therefore, she always receives better. Those connected to her always become better. She is the accumulation of the abilities gifted to her by The Most High God – not for Her glory – but for His. The tools bestowed upon her are for her to give away – for her to teach – for her to use to help build. She is a Kingdom Builder – She is Kandice.Support the showyoutube.com/thetruthnochaserthtruthnochaser.comhttps://www.instagram.com/truth_no_chaser/

Studies show 5-10% of Black Men suffer from depression, however what is more alarming is the statistics for the suicide rate among Black males has increased by 60%. Why is this? Why are our Black Men suffering in silence? Black men are in crisis and we need a new game plan to help. A first great step is offering a safe space amongst themselves that allow them to be honest when it comes to everyday things such as, fatherhood, marriage, overcoming childhood trauma, manhood, & etc. Highlighting Black men's mental well-being does not detract from the recognition of that pain, but in fact strengthens the need for all of us to divest from harmful masculine ideals. Let's talk about it! What does manhood mean to you? This is just the beginning of creating safe space for these hard discussions to take place.Support the show

Responsible for the care of aging and elderly adults in your family? From structural considerations, to costs, to consultations for CNA's and caregivers, rules, laws and regulations, this episode is a wake up call to any of us with who assume or will assume the responsibility for the life quality of of an aging family member in the home.Phaedra's bio:Meet Phaedra Mashburn-Olomo, Occupational Therapist and owner of "The Neighborhood OT", specializing in healthy aging/ aging-in-place for older adults. I received my B.S. in Occupational Therapy from Florida A&M University in 2003, and my M.S. in Healthcare Administration from Utica College in 2018. In addition to being a licensed registered Occupational Therapist, I am also a Certified Case Manager, Certified Dementia Practitioner, and Certified Aging in Place Specialist. Bringing 18 years of professional practice throughout the healthcare continuum, I understand the impact of habits, disability, and access on the prevention and management of chronic illnesses and self-care performance. Although I've worked across many different settings during my career, older adults have always been my favorite. I am, after all, a “Grandma's girl”, and often accompanied my grandmother and great aunt during weekly outings where they visited the “sick and shut-in” members of our church. It was undeniably one of the most influential experiences of my childhood that would lead me to occupational therapy. I also experienced a brief encounter with caregiver burnout as a teenager, while helping my mother care for a close family friend with multiple sclerosis. These early experiences greatly influenced my perspective as a service provider, and empathy for family caregivers. Once I experienced treating patients in their homes as a home health clinician, I realized that the home environment, when safe and appropriate, is the best place for our older adults. "The Neighborhood OT" was created to provide older adults and family caregivers in our community with the education, skills, interventions, and training needed to safely remain in their homes as they age, as safely as possible, for as long as possible.http://theneighborhoodot.comFor more information on TRUTH: NO CHASER, including booking information, updates, photos, videos and apparel please visit:https://www.thetruthnochaser.com/
