What holds many people back from getting plastic surgery? It's often the idea of recovery. The thought of stepping away from work or social activities can feel overwhelming, but everyone finds their own solution to the recovery puzzle when the timing and circumstances feel right. Spending too much time avoiding recovery can mean missing out on a procedure you've wanted for a while. If you have a big event coming up and want to refine your appearance, planning ahead for recovery is key. Make room in your life to prioritize your aesthetic goals. If it's something you're going to do eventually, why not do it now and enjoy the results longer? Dr. Bass covers: Different types of recovery, from resting at home to stepping back from social activities while you heal How recovery time and experiences vary depending on the procedure and your unique journey The typical recovery timelines for popular treatments, from surgeries like face lifts and tummy tucks to nonsurgical options like injectables and energy-based treatments About Dr. Lawrence Bass Innovator. Welcome to today's episode of our podcast! We're thrilled to bring you insights from a recent session with Dr. Karthik Ram, a renowned expert in aesthetic and plastic surgery. Dr. Ram, along with his team, provides top-tier care and is always available to address your concerns and clarify any doubts. In this session, he discussed a wide range of topics, from non-surgical treatments to complex surgical procedures. Let's dive right into the highlights! 1. Double Chin Correction with VASER Dr. Ram kicked off the session by discussing double chin correction. He explained how VASER technology helps in contouring and defining the chin area. VASER, a minimally invasive technique, uses ultrasound energy to break down fat, providing a more sculpted jawline without the need for extensive recovery. 2. Forehead Scar Treatments Next, he addressed concerns about forehead scars. Dr. Ram highlighted various treatment options, including laser therapies and specific scar revision procedures, to help improve the appearance of scarring and provide smoother skin. 3. Tummy Tuck (Mommy Makeover) One of the most common concerns he addressed was the tummy tuck or mommy makeover. He explained the entire process, including pre-operative care, the surgery itself, and post-op care. This procedure is especially beneficial for women after pregnancy, helping to restore abdominal contours and tighten skin. 4. Droopy Eyes – Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty & Brow Lifts For those struggling with droopy eyes, Dr. Ram shared his expertise on upper eyelid blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and brow lifts. These surgeries help rejuvenate the eyes, restore youthful appearance, and eliminate the tired, sagging look caused by aging or genetics. 5. Under-Eye Dark Circles Dr. Ram suggested a combination of fillers, fat transfer, and lower eyelid blepharoplasty as the best treatments for under-eye dark circles. These solutions can help restore volume and smoothness to the delicate under-eye area, offering a refreshed and well-rested look. 6. Breast Reduction & Gynecomastia Dr. Ram also addressed breast reduction concerns, particularly single-sided gynecomastia. He discussed both surgical and non-surgical options to improve breast symmetry and reduce excess tissue, providing patients with more confidence and comfort. 7. Nose Appearance While Smiling A common issue for many patients is the appearance of the nose when smiling. Dr. Ram provided solutions, discussing both surgical and non-surgical options to correct this issue and enhance facial harmony. 8. Fat Transfer for Upper Eyelids & Chin Implants Another popular topic was fat transfer for the upper eyelids. Dr. Ram explained how transferring fat from other parts of the body can restore volume to the eyelids, creating a more youthful appearance. He also talked about chin implants, a procedure that can improve facial balance and enhance the profile. 9. Skin Pigmentation & Sagging Skin Post-Gynecomastia Dr. Ram emphasized CO2 laser treatments for skin pigmentation issues and shared insights into addressing sagging skin post-gynecomastia surgery. He reassured patients that there are solutions available for these challenges, ensuring smoother, tighter skin post-surgery. 10. Keloid Treatment on Chest Chest keloids can be tricky to treat, but Dr. Ram discussed various options for managing and improving their appearance, ensuring that patients are aware of all their treatment options. 11. Lipedema Treatment & Non-Surgical Saddle Bag Solutions For patients concerned about lipedema or stubborn saddle bags, Dr. Ram went over treatment methods, including both surgical and non-surgical solutions to help reduce fat deposits in the thighs and legs, and achieve a more sculpted appearance. 12. Botox for Masseter Muscle Dr. Ram also provided clarity on Botox treatments for the masseter muscle. He explained how repeated Botox treatments can help address jawline concerns, reduce teeth grinding, and enhance facial symmetry. 13. Rhinoplasty Recovery & Brow Lift Complications Rhinoplasty recovery can be challenging, but Dr. Ram offered tips on recovery timelines and complications to watch out for. Additionally, he discussed potential issues and complications that can arise from a brow lift and how to manage them effectively.

How "body neutrality" led to a breast reduction + changed everything (& what to know if you're considering this, too) with Kali Perry

Click here to send me your Q's, comments, lovenotes, or a quick message here :) What's the difference between body positivity and body neutrality?I think this is a really important distinction that today's guest - strength coach Kali Perry - gives insight into surrounding her own journey in her body as she eventually found her way to finally having a breast reduction she'd been considering for many years. The concept of body positivity kind of requires us to be psyched on our body no matter what form or concerns we have. While body neutrality is more about acceptance and embracing from a neutral lens. It's interesting to me because this concept reminds me of how I've come to acceptance and eventually falling more in love with everything from my own partner in our 18 year relationship, to our home, to the community we live in and certainly also my body. For me, it's all "good enough" -- as in I feel generally okay with it all, and sometimes really love it. It's how I've found my way to falling into deeper love. Not needing anything to be perfect. I think so many of us fall into the trap of seeking perfection -- inside or out. This said, I love Kali's story of how she came to a place of choosing her breast reduction to feel more at home -- and have more physical capacity -- in the body she's in. Not about perfection, but about feeling better in her body. And her holistic and integrative approach to preparing for and recovering from her surgery is really inspiring, and I think a great resource to learn from for any planned surgery -- especially breast/chest surgery. To me, this conversation was a fascinating glimpse into a world I have no awareness of and Kali shares in an embodied and practical way. Listen to learn:how the practice of body neutrality helped Kali choose breast reductionthe basics of preparing for an recovering from breast/chest reduction surgerythe lack of solid information on this topic and where Kali found her best infohow to find a good surgeon and why you should "shop around"ways to prepare for the surgery + recoverywhat Kali didn't expect (even though she researched a TON beforehand)Resources:Today's shownotes: Get Kali's links hereEpisode 26: How to ease cyclic breast/chest tendernessEpisode 77: Myofascial release for breast, chest, pelvic careFree guide: Womb connection and clearing meditationIf you loved this episode, share it with a friend, or take a screenshot and share on social media and tag me @herbalwombwisdom.  And if you love this podcast, leave a rating & write a review! Who's That Girl? A New Girl Podcast

This podcast covers New Girl Season 4, Episode 7, Goldmine, which originally aired on Nov 11, 2014 and was written by Berkley Johnson and directed by Russ T. Alsobrook. Here's a quick recap of the episode:Jess is trying to get to the next level with dating, but learns she needs to follow the guy's advice and lie about living with her ex. Nick pretends to be gay to help her. Cece shares she's getting a breast reduction consultation and Schmidt processes the five stages of grief. Meanwhile, Coach and Winston pay a visit to the new neighbors but have different methods of how to hook up with them.  This episode got a 7/10 rating from Kritika whose favorite character was Nick and Kelly rated this episode a 7.5/10 and her favorite character was Tina! While not discussed in the podcast, we noted other references in this episode including:Kool-Aid Man - The guys thought that if Jess shared she lived with her ex, that he would want to run out so quickly that he'd run through the wall like the Kool-Aid Man. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel - Coach shared nothing was less hot than a male secretary, but Winston felt that even though Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel's eyes “are so pouchy” he was a male secretary who was “still killing it.” Peter Pan - When Jess and Cece were looking at Jess's bras, she mentioned one was called the Peter Pan. Freaky Friday - Cece was considering getting a breast reduction and was looking at Jess's bras, prompting Jess to ask “Are we doing, like, a boob Freaky Friday?” Anderson Cooper - When Nick was pretending to be gay, he referenced Anderson Cooper and his stance on being out. A Christmas Carol - Jess was proving how she could keep up a charade by reciting her one-woman production of A Christmas Carol. Sophie's Choice / Harold & Kumar [Go to White Castle] - When Cece was only going to let Schmidt say goodbye to one of her breasts, Schmidt felt like it was “the ultimate Sophie's Cho-Cho”, referring to the film Sophie's Choice. He also shared that he had named her breasts “Harold” and “Kumar”, the main characters from the film Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle.[Schindler's List] - Schmidt ran in to stop Cece from getting a breast reduction surgery (even though it was only a consultation) and felt like he had saved her. He then referenced the film Schindler's List, saying “I'm your Schindler. One day, your children are gonna put rocks on my grave.” Thanks for listening and stay tuned for Episode 8! Holly Tarkon is an actress and writer living in Los Angeles. She was a G cup pushing an H, had a 13-inch difference between her bust and her waist, and struggled with terrible back issues. Holly grew up in a conservative town in Alaska where there was a tremendous amount of shame built around young women's bodies. As a young girl with very large breasts, she would get called out by leaders in her community for wearing the exact same thing a smaller-chested girl was wearing. The attention she received from boys was terrifying. She developed an eating disorder because she wanted her breasts to be smaller, to be able to control something, but her breasts remained the exact same size. At 22 Holly made the personal and brave choice to have a breast reduction. Grief and sadness are important emotions to be honest about, pay attention to, and process as they come up. Today I'm sharing some things that make me sad and that I tend to be grieving on a pretty regular basis. As a person who embodies a lot of joy, passion, fire, and humor, I don't know if people realize that I grieve all the time. And I bet some of you can relate to this ー much of what makes me sad or has me grieve comes from systemic oppression and the myriad of delusions humans live under that cause us to do harm to ourselves and each other.  In this episode, I share two recent experiences that reminded me of how these systems can show up in our daily lives, sometimes in really sneaky ways that are hard to detect. When we start to peel back all the layers that we've acquired since coming into these bodies, we can remember that we are so much more than our parts.     In episode 419 of the Embodied Podcast we discuss: (1:21) Grieving over the systemic oppression that causes us to do harm to ourselves and each other (2:46) How I reframe emotions like sadness, grief, and anger (4:48) Recognizing why so many of us struggle with self-love and self-respect  (9:30) My eye-opening experience at a breast reduction consultation  (13:55) Honoring the unlearning, unpacking, and deconstructing of liberation work  (15:30) The truth about everyone's purpose  (18:11) Why you can't rush the healing timeline    Resources mentioned in the episode: Episode 389.
