Brother Bear is the 44th Disney animated feature film. It was directed by Aaron Blaise and Robert Walker and produced by Chuck Williams, from a screenplay written by Tab Murphy, Lorne Cameron, David Hoselton, and the writing team of Steve Bencich and Ron J. Friedman.

Aaron Blaise is this weeks guest. Aaron was one of many animators that helped turned animation from a flailing industry into the powerhouse it is today. During this era of cartoons from 1989 (The Little Mermaid) and forward, Aaron would be an integral part of the rebirth of animation or as it's fondly called today, The Animation Renaissance. Hosts Dave Bossert and Aljon Go chat about the latest Disney and Pop-Culture news and chat with former Disney Director/Animator and filmmaker, Aaron Blaise. Aaron graduated from the Ringling College of Art & Design in 1989 from the Illustration program. He was then hired by Walt Disney Feature Animation where he spent 21 years helping to create some of the greatest animated films ever made. During that time he worked as an animator or supervising animator on “The Rescuers Down Under”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Aladdin”, “The Lion King”, “Pocahontas” and “Mulan”. In 2003 he was co-director of “Brother Bear” for which he earned an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature Film. After “Brother Bear” he helped to develop several projects but ultimately left Disney to pursue an opportunity back home in Florida. Aaron recently served as 2D Animation Supervisor and Character Designer for “The Bear and the Hare” an advertisement loved by millions around the world. Aaron is currently involved in a number of film projects for various studios. He is also developing a short animated film called “Snow Bear”. He was also co-director of the underappreciated Brother Bear, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature Film. On this episode, we chat with Aaron about his years with Disney, the legacy of Brother Bear, his move toward illustration and teaching, what drives him creatively, working digitally, and where he's going next.
