Den 23 oktober 1956 utbröt ett uppror mot den av Sovjet insatta kommunistregimen i Ungern. Liberaliseringarna efter Stalins död hade öppnat för revolter både i Östtyskland och Polen, som kom att inspirerar studenter och arbetare i Ungern att protestera mot regimen.Upproret hade inledningsvis vissa framgångar innan det krossades brutalt av sovjetiska trupper när det sovjetiska ledarskapet bestämde sig för att agera. Paradoxalt kom upproret att leda till att Ungern blev det land i Östeuropa med störst ekonomisk frihet – den sk gulaschkommunismen.I denna repris av podden Historia Nu samtalar programledaren Urban Lindstedt med Artur Szulc, författare aktuell med boken Ungernrevolten.Upproret inleddes den 23 oktober, då studenter och intellektuella demonstrerade i Budapest för att kräva en mer demokratisk och fri politisk och ekonomisk miljö. Protesterna spred sig snabbt över hela landet och började utvecklas till en allmän strejk. Till slut gick hela landet ut i strejk, och regeringen tvingades avgå.Den nya regeringen som tog över efter att den gamla hade avgått, under ledning av Imre Nagy, utropade Ungern som en fri och självständig stat. Denna utveckling var emellertid inte populär hos Sovjetunionen, som ockuperade landet den 4 november 1956. Under de följande veckorna utkämpades hårda strider mellan de sovjetiska styrkorna och de ungerska rebellerna.Upproret varade i 13 dagar och ledde till att tusentals människor dödades och ännu fler skadades. Det var en blodig tid i Ungerns historia, men det ledde också till att landet förändrades på många sätt. Upproret var en signal om att det fanns en stor längtan efter frihet och demokrati bland det ungerska folket, och det inspirerade senare generationer av ungerska reformister och politiker.Efter ockupationen av Sovjetunionen följde en period av återuppbyggnad och återhämtning för Ungern. Une parabole blanche qui permet de se connecter n'importe où : au Sahel, les groupes armés utilisent de plus en plus le système internet satellitaire Starlink, d'Elon Musk, dans des zones non couvertes par le réseau classique. Un véritable trafic s'est organisé, selon Fiacre Vidjingninou, chercheur associé à l'institut Egmont de Bruxelles. Un défi pour les gouvernements et armées de la région. Il est l'invité du jour. RFI : Comment ça fonctionne un kit Starlink et combien ça coûte ? Fiacre Vidjingninou : C'est très simple. Un kit Starlink, c'est une antenne que vous reliez à un émetteur de signal wifi. Vous le déployez et puis c'est parti sur une zone dégagée. Vous avez la connexion à peu près dans les cinq minutes qui suivent. En Afrique de l'Ouest, en tout cas, pour ce que je sais, au Bénin, au Niger, c'est entre 350 et 400 000 francs CFA, environ 600 €. À quelles fins les groupes armés en particulier utilisent-ils cette technologie ? Pour ce qu'on a pu documenter, essentiellement, ils essaient d'échapper aux circuits de suivi des communications mis en place dans les pays par les forces loyalistes qui essaient de contrôler, par différents systèmes de décryptage de communications, les appels ou via les messageries, même dites cryptées. Et donc ça permet à ces groupes de faire de la coordination, de la communication interne, de la propagande également ? C'est utilisé à toutes ces fins là que vous venez de citer. Vous pouvez alors communiquer entre les différentes équipes sur le terrain. Déjà en juin 2025, on l'a documenté avec le Jnim et l'EIGS au Mali, qui ont fait des offensives coordonnées sur trois fronts simultanés près du camp de Boulkessi, l'assaut de Tombouctou et l'assaut de l'aéroport. La coordination des équipes n'a été possible que grâce au système de communication par messagerie cryptée. Après, de n'importe où, ils peuvent envoyer des vidéos sur leurs différents sites grâce toujours à cette connexion. Vous avez cité le Jnim, l'EIGS… Comment ces groupes se procurent-ils ces kits Starlink ? Comment ça circule ? Le plus gros du lot des kits Starlink qui sont vendus aujourd'hui dans le Sahel, ça vient du Nigeria. Il y a les douaniers, il y a les policiers ici et là, on leur glisse quelques billets de banque et c'est cela qu'ils vendent après, à 400 000 francs CFA. Mais le gros du business, en réalité, c'est après avoir vendu le kit. Il y a la connexion tous les mois qu'il faut payer, l'abonnement…. C'est ça le vrai business. Concrètement, ça veut dire que les trafiquants contrôlent la connexion et « facturent » leurs clients ? Voilà, c'est-à-dire qu'ils ont des cartes bancaires pour faire les abonnements et c'est ça qu'ils vendent. Au lieu par exemple de 30 000 francs CFA une connexion, ils peuvent vendre soit à 60 000, soit à 80 000. Et en face, alors, que peuvent faire les États, les armées nationales, voire la Cédéao ? Alors malheureusement, rien sur la connexion via satellite. C'est très compliqué de pouvoir faire des interceptions de signal si ce n'est de collaborer avec Starlink, si SpaceX leur permet de couper par zone. Ce qui quand même fait sourire, c'est que les pays du Sahel ont tout le temps crié « indépendance, indépendance » et aujourd'hui, ils sont face à une situation qui les oblige à parler avec les Américains, éventuellement pour trouver des solutions à cette histoire. Plusieurs pays africains ont autorisé le déploiement de Starlink sur leur territoire. Il y a par exemple le Mali, le Niger, le Tchad également. Qu'est-ce que ça change ? Est-ce que cette légalisation permet d'atténuer l'utilisation du système par des groupes jihadistes par exemple ? Je peux vous dire que, même quand le Bénin n'avait pas autorisé, il suffisait de de se localiser au Nigeria par exemple pour avoir une connexion. Le fait de légaliser l'utilisation de Starlink dans un pays ne permet pas, en tant que tel, de contrôler ce qui est transmis ou ce qui est reçu. Pas du tout. Et Starlink est devenu sans le vouloir un acteur de ce conflit-là. Et quels scénarii vous imaginez pour les années à venir ? Est-ce qu'on se dirige vers plus de régulation, une surutilisation accrue de cette technologie avec de possibles alternatives à Starlink comme la constellation du groupe Amazon ? Il y aura beaucoup plus d'offres très prochainement avec cette nouvelle constellation proposée par Amazon. Qui dit beaucoup plus d'offres : les coûts vont sûrement baisser et il y aura une plus forte utilisation. Et du côté de la lutte contre le jihadisme, il va falloir réfléchir à trouver des solutions par rapport au contrôle de ce qui est envoyé et ce qui est reçu. Den 23 oktober 1956 utbröt ett uppror mot den av Sovjet insatta kommunistregimen i Ungern. Liberaliseringarna efter Stalins död, som hade öppnat för revolter både i Östtyskland och Polen, kom att inspirera studenter och arbetare i Ungern att protestera mot regimen.Upproret hade inledningsvis vissa framgångar innan det krossades brutalt av sovjetiska trupper när det sovjetiska ledarskapet bestämde sig för att agera. Paradoxalt kom upproret att leda till att Ungern blev det land i Östeuropa med störst ekonomisk frihet – den s.k. gulaschkommunismen.I detta avsnitt av podden Historia Nu samtalar programledaren Urban Lindstedt med Artur Szulc, författare aktuell med boken Ungernrevolten.Upproret inleddes den 23 oktober, då studenter och intellektuella demonstrerade i Budapest för att kräva en mer demokratisk och fri politisk och ekonomisk miljö. Protesterna spred sig snabbt över hela landet och började utvecklas till en allmän strejk. Till slut gick hela landet ut i strejk, och regeringen tvingades avgå.Den nya regeringen som tog över efter att den gamla hade avgått, under ledning av Imre Nagy, utropade Ungern som en fri och självständig stat. Denna utveckling var emellertid inte populär hos Sovjetunionen, som ockuperade landet den 4 november 1956. Kennedy discusses about the historic decision to restore the mana of Mt Taranaki by dropping the name "Egmont" from the mountain and its associated national park and recognising the entirety of the park and its peaks as a legal person. He will also talk about the imminent launch of a four-year circumnavigation of the Pacific by double-hulled waka, the goal of which is to "ignite a movement of planetary navigators."

Hundreds of people gathered at Aotearoa Pa in South Taranaki today to witness the initialling of Te Ruruku Pūtakerongo - the Treaty of Waitangi settlement for Taranaki Maunga. he deal consigns the name Egmont to the history books in favour of Taranaki Maunga and the national park's peaks, regarded as tūpuna by Māori, will jointly become a legal person named Te Kāhui Tupua. When Philip the Handsome came of age and took over direct rule of the previously Burgundian, now Habsburg, territories of the Low Countries in September, 1494, his accession marked the first time since the death of Charles the Bold in 1477 that a native and natural born male prince had filled that position. The last twenty odd years of crises had bled his lands and peoples dry physically, mentally and financially. Across the board of those societies people were desperate for a period of prolonged peace. Despite this, there were still a couple of major issues which were lingering and which, if dealt with improperly, could lead to another outbreak of war. These were the situation in Guelders, whereby Maximilian and Charles of Egmont were both walking around saying “I am the Duke of Guelders”, as well as a good old fashioned conspiracy in which Margaret of York and Maximilian both pointed to a random Flemish dude and said “He is the king of England”, resulting in a mutually detrimental trade conflict between England and the Habsburg Low Countries. Philip's first great test as Duke of Burgundy would be discerning between the interests of his lands and subjects and those of his ever ambitious father. In March 1492, the town burghers and knights of Guelders hailed Charles of Egmont as their duke, beginning a four decade period of bitter, contested conflict with the Habsburg Burgundian state. That's right, just as the revolts in Flanders came to an end with the surrender of Sluis, the football of violent defiance was handballed from Flanders to Guelders. But across most of the Low Countries, a period of relative calm would ensue, as the prins naturel of Burgundy, Philip the Handsome, was now 14 years old and would soon come to rule in his own right, deflating the angst people had at being governed by a foreign prince for the past 15 years. The final siren on this era of instability was blown on May 23, 1493, with the signing of the Treaty of Senlis between Charles VIII and Maximilian. This treaty released Margaret of Austria from captivity in France and saw the counties of Artois, Burgundy and Charolais returned to team Habsburg. Not long after Senlis, Emperor Frederick III would die, essentially elevating Maximilian to that role. The times they were a-changin', which is basically what all times do.
