THIS MESSAGE CAN BE FOUND ACCOMPANIED WITH MUSIC IF YOU DOWNLOAD THE SPOTIFY APP AND PUT IN THE SEARCH BAR-BROKEN 3 JONATHON EDWARDS WRITES:SECT. III.OVERVIEWThat Propensity which has been proved to be in the Nature of all Mankind, must be a very evil, de|praved and pernicious Propensity; making it manifest that the Soul of Man, as it is by Nature, is in a corrupt, fallen and ruin'd State: which is the other Part of the Consequence, drawn from the Proposition laid down in the first Section.Question to be considered, in Order to deter|mine whether Man's Nature is not depraved and ruin'd, is not, Whether he is not inclined to perform as many good Deeds as bad ones? But, Which of these two he preponderates to, in the Frame of his Heart, and State of his Nature, a State of Innocence and Righteousness, and Favour with God; or a State of Sin, Guiltiness and Abhorrence in the Sight of God?—Persevering sinless Righteousness, or else the Guilt of Sin, is the Alternative, the Decision of which depends (as is confessed) according to the Nature and Truth of Things, as they are in them|selves, and according to the Rule of Right and of perfect Justice, Man's being approved and accepted of his Maker, and eternally blessed as good; or his being rejected, thrown away and cursed as bad. And therefore the Determi|nation of the Tendency of Man's Heart and Nature with respect to these Terms, is that which is to be look'd at, in Order to determine whether his Nature is good or evil, pure or corrupt, sound or ruin'd. If such be Man's Na|ture, and state of his Heart, that he has an infallibly ef|fectual Propensity to the latter of those Terms;; then it is wholly impertinent, to talk of the innocent and kind Actions, even of Criminals themselves, surpassing their Crimes in Numbers; and of the prevailing Innocence, good Nature, Industry, Felicity and Chearfulness of the greater Part of Mankind. Let never so many Thou|sands, or Millions of Acts of Honesty, good Nature &c.descriptionPAGE 28be supposed; yet, by the Supposition, there is an unfail|ing Propensity to such moral Evil, as in it's dreadful Con|sequences infinitely out-weighs all Effects or Consequen|ces of any supposed Good. Surely that Tendency, which, in Effect, is an infallible Tendency to eternal Destruction, is an infinitely dreadful & pernicious Tendency: And that Nature & Frame of Mind, which implies such a Tendency, must be an infinitely dreadful & pernicious Frame of Mind. It would be much more absurd, to suppose, that such a State of Nature is good, or not bad, under a Notion of Men's doing more honest and kind things, than evil ones; than to say, the State of that Ship is good, to cross the Atlantick Ocean in, that is such as cannot hold together through the Voyage, but will infallibly founder and sink by the Way; under a Notion that it may probably go great Part of the Way before it sinks, or that it will pro|ceed and sail above Water more Hours than it will be in sinking:—Or, to pronounce thatRoad a good Road to go to such a Place, the greater Part of which is plain and safe, tho' some Parts of it are dangerous, and certainly fatal to them that travel in it; or to call that a good Pro|pensity, which is an inflexible Inclination to travel in such a Way.SECT. V.The Depravity of Nature appears, in that the general Consequence of the State & Tendency of Man's Nature is a much greater Degree of Sin, than Righteousness; not only with respect to Value and Demerit, but Matter and Quantity.I Have before shewn, that there is a Propensity in Man's Nature to that Sin, which in Heinousness and Ill-desert immensely outweighs all the Value and Merit of any supposed Good, that may be in him, or that he can do.
Playlist 1: Dead Kennedys - police truck (give me convenience or give me death, 1997) 2: Dissection - where dead angels lie (Storm of the lights bane, 1995) 3: Amon amarth - the way of viking (Jomsviking, 2016) 4: Till lindemann - sport frei (zunge, 2023) 5: Amenra - de evenmens (de doorn, 2021) 6: Gloryhammer- rise of the chaos wizards (space 1992: rise of the chaos wizards, 2015) Zwaar Aanbevolen 7: Cognitive - A Pact Unholy (Abhorrence, 2024) “Onze tip is afkomstig van Abhorrence, het vijfde album van de band Cognitive.”
The New Jersey technical death metal powerhouse that is Cognitive return with ‘Abhorrence', their fifth full-length album and the successor to 2021's ‘Malevolent Thoughts of a Hastened Extinction'. It will be released on May 17th, 2024, via Metal Blade Records. To date, they have released banger album after banger album, constantly raising their game and once again, they've done it with Abhorrence. Delivering a slice of utter brilliance that combines the best of their past selves with forward thinking shifts via the medium of tighter song writing. Cognitive aren't band that who like to sit still for too long and as well as releasing this new album, they have numerous tours planned all over the world throughout the remainder of 2024. We spoke to guitarist Rob Wharton about touring, the new album, why this record means so much to the band, finding ways to enjoy every second of making music, and so much more. Earlier this month I caught up with Bandit after their show in Atlanta. In between obnoxiously loud car engines and jokes about killing each other, we talked about their latest LP Siege of Self, their lastest tour with Chepang and Decultivate, what it was like to work with Colin Marston, and why Denny's might actually be hell on earth. Read the (lightly edited) transcript below or listen at the bottom. Eenzy: Hey guys, Eenzaamheid - Eenzy - here, I'm outside 529 in Atlanta, which is a venue, hanging in the parking lot where I came to piss earlier tonight - Bandit is the band I'm with. Do you guys wanna introduce yourselves? Gene: Yeah I'm Gene Meyer, I'm the vocalist Gobi: I'm Gobi, drummer for Bandit Jack: I'm Jack, I play guitar, and is it a coincidence that every place that's good for an interview is also good for a piss and a murder? *Eenzy laughs* Eenzy: You ruined the end of this interview for me, so thank you! Eenzy: Siege of Self, your full-length came out earlier this year. Me and a lot of other reviewers heard a lot of Pig Destroyer in the sound, was that intentional or just our lack of imagination as reviewers? Also, generally what are you main influences specifically on that album? Jack: I would say it was intentional but we already got one Cease and Desist so I'm just gonna say no comment - I'm just kidding. I've listened to Phantom Limb and Terrifyer more than any other albums in my entire life. They have absolutely a massive amount of influence [on me]. The guitar you saw me use tonight I actually got from Scott Hull. In terms of other influences, I listen to a lot of Discordance Axis, Agents of Abhorrence from Australia - super incredible band - a lot of Chepang both new and old. I'm really big into the latest Car Bomb LP, which had a big influence on the grooves on the record, and you know like Rock 'n Roll - AC/DC, Lou Reed, stuff like that. Eenzy: I actually got to see Chepang also tonight cause they're on tour with these guys, so it was quite the show. Eenzy: For me, when I listened to Warsaw, I felt like there was an underlying theme. A lot of the songs are named after cities that had concentration camps in WW2 - would you say there's an underlying theme to [Siege of Self], and is there a connection to the record Warsaw? The reason I ask is because the last line in "End of the Rainbow" says "bury me in Czestawova" [Gene corrects my terrible pronunciation]. Are they connected, do they both have general themes, what's up? Gene: Warsaw is about inter-generational trauma. Both sides of my family - my dad went through a very painful divorce as a child and my mom, her parents survived WW2 labor camps and all that shit. Siege of Self is more about my own struggles. A lot of it focuses on failed relationships, depression - I was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder while we were recording - so a lot of it plays into that. But one thing we always try to do is reference older material in the new material. In that last song not only do I reference Czestawova but I reference the parking lot which is a reference from Self-Inflicted and throughout the album there are a few lines that are repeated like "a little bit of violence never hurt anyone" and stuff like that. Eenzy: Your music seems intensely personal to me; is playing a cathartic experience? And do you ever struggle with how much you're willing to share with your audience? Gene: It is intensely personal, I don't think we'd have it any other way. Playing is also intensely cathartic, I also don't think we'd have it any other way. On this tour, there have been some shows where we have just given our all and the audience stares at us like we're a bunch of penguins at the zoo, but tonight was a good example of the crowd really reciprocating our energy. We know that if we're gonna be a band that gives 110% every time, sometimes people just aren't gonna be ready for it and that's ok.

We have prepared a special menu for you on this unspecial holiday. As our appetizer, we begin with the Pledge of Abhorrence with a side of Unthankful Lamenting of all things Austin hates including boring license plates, the names Geoff, Oswald, and Leopold, and the recurring traumatic nightmare of Alex in a wedding dress. For our main course, we will devote the Sacrificial Hate Chicken to the item most deserving of jail and Satan this year and summon Jonathan Edwards, George Whitfield, and John Winthrop from the grave to give their fire and brimstone energy to us.
Our guest is Waltteri Väyrynen, Drummer for Paradise Lost, Abhorrence, Bodom After Midnight and Bloodbath! But other than that list of heavy hitters (pun intended) Waltteri is also a prolific session drummer, having been involved in countless projects and recording. Back on T37, we delved into the sophisticated songwriting of The Visceral Sovereign, the debut of a brutal death project named, unforgettably, "Anal Stabwound." Needless to say, The Death Metal Guy had to get in touch with sole mastermind Nikhil T., also known for his guitar and drum covers on Youtube. In an all-killer no-filler 45 minute conversation, Nikhil outlines his methodology for writing brutal death metal, discusses his journey to multi-instrumental mastery, and sheds some light on the strangely-structured internet scene at the vanguard of brutality. 00:00 - Introduction / origins of the Wound 07:38 - "It's a lot of shifting dyads" - Motivic songwriting / art of riff-construction / place of melody in BDM 16:28 - "Maybe I've played guitar way too much" - Nikhil's instrumental background / practice and learning new stuff 20:30 - Interlude - Anal Stabwound - "Demiurge of Abhorrence," fr. In this week's episode of Into the Pray, we speak with Dave Brennan of Brephos, a Christian (not Catholic) organisation heralding the plight of unborn babies. (Correction to the podcast: “Brephos” is the Greek word for “baby” not “breath”).“They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons; they poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was polluted with blood. ..Then the anger of the LORD was kindled against his people, and he abhorred his heritage.” (Psalm 106: 37-38, 40).Dave helps us with the conviction that we all need be having conversations about this in an ongoing, increasing way and, as such, a new weekly episode of this podcast will now be dedicated to this worthy conversation. (More info to follow).Suffice to say, we need much more Christian action and much less Christian apathy/ignorance.How many people were killed during WW1 and WW2, combined? Do you know? Do you know how many people were killed in the last century through the abhorrence of abortion? As Dave begins to help us all to understand, this issue of babies being killed on an industrial scale is nothing short of "normalised" genocide and yet tantamount to many, many in our sick society today with merely personal hygiene choices - after all, "It's MY body!", right? We will all very soon stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ with this incomparable injustice firmly in His view - what will He say to us; what will we say to Him? More information regarding Dave Brennan & Brephos here, as well as the wider work of CBRUK here. As well as our regular Friday episodes (featuring guests/book reviews etc) we also have a dedicated Sunday morning session for solid biblical teaching. As we continue to embark on this "Work for Reformers" we are increasingly finding ourselves out of our depth in terms of space, capacity and time. Therefore, if you're interested in helping to regularly support what we're doing, please consider regular giving here. Thank you.Come, Lord!in JesusNick & Mairi xx

"Let's just argue" Is what Abby and Filip said right before we recorded. Enjoy our rambling on topics that really have no impact on our lives. And enjoy as Filip tears Abby a new one for pronouncing every word incorrectly.
At the heart of man’s instinctual response to life is an insistent, nagging, impulse to bring all uncertainty under control. We need to keep a lid on the explosive threat that uncertainty poses to becoming fear-dominated. Uncertainty keeps us from putting our hands on tools to wrestle down unwieldy circumstances. Uncertainty becomes a breeding womb for negative and frightening non-stop tapes and films occupying the real estate of our brain and soul day and night. Uncertainty eats at our peace and robs us of vision for the future. If man’s unsuccessful attempt to muscle control over uncertainty persist, he cries out for a sovereign. One who will take over and give him peace. But first, he will have to reconcile his resistance to relinquishing any part of his self-governance. Kathleen’s podcast probes this antagonistic dualism in man and inquires as to how man can arrive onto the path of peace, as well as accomplish successful self-governance.

Porous Borders: Experimental Music in the Southern Hemisphere
Ben Andrews is a Melbourne-based musician who is best known as the guitarist of the band My Disco. He has also played guitar in the grindcore band Agents of Abhorrence, and as a solo artist under the name ASSAD. I've been a big fan of My Disco for many years now, so I was really happy to have the opportunity to talk to Ben. We talked a lot about My Disco and the evolution they've undergone over the past 20 years or so. Ben also lived in Jakarta for a while, so we talked about that too. This conversation was recorded at a bar near where Ben lives in Melbourne, so you'll be able to hear a little bit of background noise. Diana S. Fleischman is an evolutionary psychologist, currently Senior Lecturer at the University of Portsmouth. Her interests include sex, disgust, veganism, utilitarianism, effective altruism, polyamory, and genetics, among other things. Show notes with timestamps: 0:00 - 00:30 How we met on Twitter, how to make friends online, dissecting our online impressions of each other. Our weird ideological histories and intersections. Academics and drug use and talking about it on the internet. A thesis about the new ideological fracturing; the alt-right, etc. 00:30 - 00:50 Diana’s experiences with the vegan movement; the milquetoast Science March. Is “intersectionality” predictive? Diana’s view of how the left is changing, on smart people leaving the left and people with nuanced views being ejected. My thesis that there is no mass media or mainstream anymore. Diana reviews the idea of personality, the Big Five traits. Most people are not very open to experience. Are apparent ideological differences really just due to a bunch of different lexicons and/or sociological differences? Lefties open to global warming science, not open to other science (GMOs, etc.). The problem of epistemic hygiene and disgust. Why are we so paranoid and afraid of each other when our society has never been more pacified? How evolutionary psychology explains the prevalence of signaling in politics. Very interesting exchange of hypotheses on this point, about what causes this to increase or decrease, and how it may or may not be changing. One has to be disagreeable to update; how Diana has lost a lot of friends many times but most people don’t want to do that. How I think this is changing on the left. 00:50 - 1:20 Debates about IQ and leftist denials of hierarchy. Partisan sorting. How ideology can be rational and at odds with the truth, at the same time. How social partners want to make each other really weird so there is less competition for their attention. Why it feels good when someone tells you a secret. Marriage; hierarchical polyamory vs. anarcho-polyamory. How polyamory makes healthy competition. Diana’s personal arrangements. Why I like monogamy and think pleasure is bad. It’s hard to think clearly and be honest when you’re trying to get laid. My interest in radical transparency, which Diana thinks is dumb. How sex could facilitate honesty. Social media as escape behavior, how to manage this. Kink and sociopathy. How to use social media dopamine as a propeller of disciplined work, which you then reinvest into social media, and so on. Diana becomes more fluent when arguing. How we both leverage social media exchanges for more purposeful writing. 1:20 - 1:54 Here is when things get a little bit dicey. I asked Diana if “human biodiversity” is a racist dog-whistle or a real thing? Diana laid out a lot of arguments and cited a lot of evidence, and we had a long back and forth about this and its implications. Diana recommended the article “On the Reality of Race and the Abhorrence of Racism,” an explicitly anti-racist case for "human biodiversity." I don’t know much about this stuff and I’m still processing the conversation to be honest. As if this wasn’t difficult enough, I also asked Diana about mental health and transgenderism. I’m just going to leave it at that. Definitely one of the more intense and politically challenging conversations I’ve had on this podcast so far.
Most people believe that race exists. They believe that Denzel Washington is an African American, that George Clooney is a Caucasian, and that George Takei is an Asian.* Many intellectuals, however, contend that this belief results from an illusion as dangerous as it is compelling. “Just as the sun appears to orbit the earth”, so too do humans appear to belong to distinct and easily identifiable groups. But, underneath this appearance, the reality of human genetic variation is complicated and inconsistent with standard, socially constructed racial categories. This is often touted as cause for celebration. All humans are really African under the skin; and human diversity, however salient it may appear, is actually remarkably superficial. Therefore racism is based on a misperception of reality and is as untrue as it is deplorable. With appropriate qualifications, however, we will argue that most people are correct: race exists. And although genetic analyses have shown that human variation is complicated, standard racial categories are not arbitrary social constructions. Rather, they correspond to real genetic differences among human populations. … The post On the Reality of Race and the Abhorrence of Racism appeared first on Quillette.
Our task this week is to take a look at a couple of the most prominent passages in the in the Old Testament that highlights God's disdain for sexual vice, in particular: homosexuality. A helpful distinction is in order, we want to differentiate between being: homoerotic and homosexual. Homoeroticisim is a sexual attraction for the same sex. Whereas Homosexuality is defined by one who actually engages in sexual relations with someone of the same sex. Our passages deal with latter issue not the former. Again, Moses is our teacher today!
