Hour 1 Aaron Glenn met with the Jets yesterday, but he doesn't have a deal yet. We do expect that to happen though. Brian Costello put out an article with some potential names for Jets offensive coordinator and Gio is not thrilled with them. We talked about the Jets bringing in another first time head coach and another first time GM. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with Davante Adams talking to Kay Adams about the Washington/Detroit game. The mayor of Philadelphia tried to chant ‘E-A-G-L-E-S', but she failed at that. Shannon Sharpe and Ochocinco talked about Ryan Day and Ohio State. Ichiro is headed to the Hall of Fame, but one voter did not vote for him. CC Sabathia also got in and talked about his career and his ‘home in the Bronx'. The Knicks beat the Nets in Brooklyn. In the final segment of the hour, an 11-year old kid found the 1-of-1 Paul Skenes card. Hour 2 We talked more about the 11-year old kid who found the Paul Skenes rookie card that's a 1-of-1. We talked about Patrick Mahomes getting all the calls from the refs. We talked about the quarterback performances in the divisional games. Phil talked about playing in terrible windy conditions in the playoffs. Phil said of the KC defense, ‘Oh My Gosh'. Phil said ‘there's no Jayden Daniels out there for the Giants this year'. Jerry returns for an update, but first Boomer is dealing with a fellow employee who thinks others see him as a jerk. Ben Johnson was given a hero's welcome when he went into the Bears' facility. Brian Schottenheimer is the leading candidate for the Cowboys job and it's not sitting well with the hosts in Dallas. Jerry Jones is not going to hire somebody that outshines Jerry Jones. Lamar Jackson went over to Mark Andrews after the dropped 2-point conversion to say it's the whole team, not just him. In the final segment of the hour, America is definitely rooting for the Bills over the Chiefs. Hour 4 Overnight producer Mike Fliegelman, a huge Jets fan, tweeted something that Boomer really liked. It was in regards to Lance Newmark, the guy the Jets are likely to hire as GM. He does not seem to be a fan and he explained why. The Jets still don't know what's going on with Aaron Rodgers. Gio wants Aaron Glenn, in his press conference, to say, ‘I know it's a mess here and it's going to be a tough job'. Lance Newmark doesn't know about the bus that is about to drive over him. Boomer thinks Patriots fans must be pumped. They got Mike Vrabel and Josh McDaniels is coming back. And they have Drake Maye to play under these guys. Jerry returns for his final update of the day and starts with Dan Orlovsky apologizing for tweeting people yelling at Lamar and Andrews are losers. Marriage has long been considered a goal to aspire to and a conventional path to happiness. But over the last few decades, the traditional view of marriage as the cornerstone of adult life has been questioned. Changes in economic conditions, gender roles, and cultural values have fueled a reevaluation of whether marriage is still desirable or necessary for personal fulfillment and social stability. Those who believe it's better to get married argue that married individuals report better physical and mental well-being, compared to single adults. They also experience economic and social benefits. Those who believe it's better to be single say singledom helps promote independence, allows individuals to make decisions freely, makes it likely to create broader social networks and communities, and feel more fulfilled than they would if they felt pressured to be partnered.     Whether you are in a relationship or not, we debate the following prompt: Married or Single?  Arguing Married: Jonathan Rothwell, Principal Economist at Gallup   Arguing Single: Bella DePaulo, Social Scientist and Author of "Singled Out" and "Single at Heart"    Emmy award-winning journalist John Donvan moderates  Learn more about your ad choices. Cesar Gonzalez Fernandez tells us all about his mission to 'Clean Something for Nothing'. Bella DePaulo talks about the growing voice for those who choose to live a life on their own and flourish doing so. Social scientist Dr. Bella DePaulo is a leading expert on the Single Life, perhaps the leading expert. Her latest book, Single at Heart, has drawn attention from all corners of the world as people feel more able to talk about living a single life, by choice, and feeling utterly fulfilled. Currently an academic affiliate in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of California Santa Barbara, Bella's work on the Single Life gained traction from her TEDx Talk which has now been viewed more than 1.7 million times. Dr. DePaulo's written work includes the books ‘Singled Out' and ‘How we live now'. ‘One is a whole number' was the trigger which started this cascade of research. This line was written by an agony aunt to a letter from a lady who had lost her partner. The idea of course is that you are whole alone. Since then, Bella has also written about the discrimination that can be a part of a single person's experience such as tax laws, but much more besides. When it comes to social events, it is now more acceptable to eat alone at restaurants but still, being single, can attach a negative stereotype. Bella is an advocate of building a great solo life, deep with fulfilling friendships, work and activities of one's own choice without compromise. Dr. DePaulo is a clear example of how to flourish psychologically, career-wise and, most importantly, by being single as a choice, not in spite of being single. Clean Something for Nothing Cesar Gonzalez Fernandez and his partner Lester founded Clean Something For Nothing (CSFN) - a mobile app that connects people to clean the world, one bag of trash at a time. Since their launch in February 2022 their users have completed over 3700 cleanups in 64 countries resulting in over 750 tons of trash picked up to date. Cesar is also an EU Climate Pact ambassador and the Country leader in Luxembourg for the World Cleanup Day organization (WCD) The WCD is the biggest environmental mobilization worldwide and has officially received a recognition by the UN to include the date (20/09) in their official calendar from 2024 onwards. However, before WCD we can work closer to home. Cesar encourages us all to be part of the "lëtz clean your commune" campaign. Luxembourg Spring Cleanup, also known as the Grouss Botz, Naturbotz or Grouss Beschbotz will take place on 23 March and will be the perfect occassion to join a local cleanup and take action. In this week's episode, I'm talking to the one-and-only Bella DePaulo.Bella DePaulo, PhD, is the leading expert on single life and has been described by The Atlantic as “America's foremost thinker and writer on the single experience.” Bella coined the term ‘single at heart', and her new book, Single At Heart, comes out on 5th December 2023. She is the author of Singled Out and How We Live Now, among other titles; has written the “Living Single” blog for Psychology Today since 2008; and has been published by the New York Times, the Washington Post, Time magazine, The Atlantic, and many other outlets. Her Tedx talk, ‘What No-one Ever Told You About People Who Are Single' has been viewed by over 1.5 million people. Bella is the recipient of numerous honours and awards, such as the James McKeen Cattell Award and the Research Scientist Development Award. She has more than 150 scholarly publications and has served in various leadership positions in professional organisations. She has written op-ed essays and other articles for publications such as the New York Times, the Washington Post, NBC, CNN, Time magazine, New York magazine, the Guardian, Forbes, Quartz, Nautilus, the Conversation, and the Chronicle of Higher Education. Bella has also discussed the place of singles in society on radio and television, including NPR and CNN. She has been described by Atlantic Magazine as “America's foremost thinker and writer on the single experience.”And as if all of that wasn't enough, she also happens to have a PhD from Harvard University.   In this conversation, Bella and I talk about an array of topics including how she came to study and research the single life when initially she was working on the psychology of deception; the fact that she never wanted to be married, and how she realised many years ago that being single is simply who she is; and how she discovered that loving being single and wanting to stay single is, in fact, a ‘thing'.Bella also talks about how she believes that a single life can be a bigger, more expansive life with more possibility; being ‘single at heart', a term she coined and is also using as the title for her next book which she's currently working on; how crazy it is that she hears from many, many people who love being single but think that there is something wrong with them because of that; and some of the biggest misconceptions about single people. We also discuss some of the research that has been done into singles and how, in fact, the outlook for unmarried people is far brighter than society may assume; how Bella wants to challenge the idea that being single is always a ‘temporary' state whilst waiting for a partner; and how people who are single at heart happily live their best, most authentic, meaningful and fulfilling lives by being single.Bella is passionate about getting the message out that if you're happy being single, and want to stay that way, there is nothing wrong with you, and you don't need fixing! I sincerely hope that you all enjoy listening to this conversation as much as I enjoyed having it.Bella can be found on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bella.depaulo  She can also be found on Twitter: @belladepaulo Bella's Website: https://www.belladepaulo.com/US Link to Bella's book, Singled Out: https://www.amazon.com/Singled-Out-Singles-Stereotyped-Stigmatized/dp/0312340826/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=UK Link to Bella's book, Singled Out: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Singled-Out-Bella-Depaulo/dp/0312340826/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1653921137&sr=8-1Join my private Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1870817913309222/?ref=shareFollow me on Instagram: @spinsterhoodreimaginedFollow me on Twitter: @LucyMeggesonEmail me: lucymeggeson@gmail.com

Kevin R. Free approaches the narration of Maraniss's biography of baseball player Glenn Burke with dignity and an engaged tone. Host Jo Reed and AudioFile's Robin Whitten discuss Free's skillful narration of Burke's biography, available from June 2-8, 2022, through AudioFile's SYNC program, which provides free audiobooks for teens all summer long. Having played in the 1970s, Burke is remembered for two things: he was gay at a time when the gay liberation movement was in its infancy, and he's credited as the inventor of the high five. A fine look at a ballplayer and the era he played in. Sign up for SYNC and discover all of this summer's available audiobooks, including the excellent SINGLED OUT. Michael and Rae chat about his incredible journey of discovery and the process of developing a catalogue and his inspiration from Ray Charles and his ability to explore all genres of music as an artist and a songwriter. The critically acclaimed old-school crooner Michael Tinholme brings his stylings to his latest album Singled Out. A 13-track journey soaked in Tinholme's smooth and sophisticated jazzy stylings, backed by genre giants performing at their best. Opening the album is a rendition of the Bowie classic ‘Lady Stardust', that sets the tempo for this technically proficient and soulfully rich project. Tinholme's interpretation of the legacy track bleeds respect for the original while showcasing what makes the artist and his band so special. Backed by long-time Bowie collaborator and the song's original pianist Mike Garson, Michael's cool vocals dance across a dynamic range fitting of Lady Stardust's legacy, while saxophone and piano solos, and beautiful backing singers envelop listeners in a sonically rich and wonderous experience. Singled Out delivers on the promise of its opening track. Shifting between fantastic renditions of all-time greats and Tinholme originals standing shoulder to shoulder, the album transports listeners back to the time of jazz as a juggernaut, all the while making the most of contemporary production, stylings, and calibre of talent. Joining Michael are the aforementioned Mike Garson, jazz guitarist Mike Miller (Better Midler, Quincey Jones), the acclaimed drummer Gary Novak (Chick Corea, Natalie Cole), and legendary guitarist Steve Lukather (Toto, Michael Jackson's Thriller, Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney). Michael's path to the company of musical prestige was one hard tread. Adopted into a military family at only seven months old, Michael was constantly being relocated all the while suffering extensive abuse. Amongst the catharsis, the artist found solace in music. A perfect fit, Michael played his first professional show aged only twelve. While the journey there forth remained difficult, with spouts of foster care and homelessness, two threads remain constant from Michael's collaborators: his kindness and his passion. It is with dedication, talent, and a relentlessly tenacious spirit then that Michael brought himself to the remarkable stature he holds today. Waiting. Nobody likes to wait. But there are beautiful things to discover in the waiting if we will wait with purpose. Today's guest Christa Smith, author of Singled Out in a Couples World, brings us a fresh reminder of the lessons she discovered while waiting to meet and marry her husband Sean at age 39. Her vantage point will encourage the listener in the waiting, whether she's waiting to meet her life's partner, waiting for a new ministry opportunity, looking for the exit from a difficult situation, praying for that prodigal to come home. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Whether speaking nationally or internationally, Christa Smith's passion for the Lord pours out of her. Her life was significantly marked after a powerful encounter with the Holy Spirit as a young girl. From that moment on, the prophetic heart of the Father became the foundation of her walk with Jesus.   Christa delivers what she hears from the Holy Spirit with humor, accuracy and powerful personal experiences. She is known for her passionate preaching and down to earth approachability, but what many people don't know is that Christa is a student of Krav Maga, a home design enthusiast, committed coffee drinker, and lover of all things cozy!   Christa's background includes graduating from Seattle Pacific University with a degree in Communication. She then went on to Hillsong International Leadership College in Sydney, Australia where she completed the Pastoral Ministry Program. She has planted and has been Director of two Schools of Ministry; one in the San Francisco Bay area and the other in Las Vegas, Nevada. Christa has also served as Associate Pastor at Garden Valley Church in Roseburg, Oregon and Executive Pastor at Expression 58 in Glendale, California. Christa currently resides in the San Francisco Bay area and travels full time with her husband, Sean, ministering together throughout America & beyond.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Episode Featured Links:Sean & Christa Smith MinistriesPurchase Christa's BRAND NEW BOOK Singled Out in a Couples WorldFollow Christa on Instagram @mrschristasmithSanctuary's Let's Retreat '22 registration opens FEBRUARY 4, 2022!Gathering Oaks Retreat | Crawford, TX

Real World, Daria, Choose or Lose, House of Style and The Week in Rock. (There were some videos too.) In the '90s, MTV was our media of choice — and, if you think about it, was Instagram before Instagram. The network set the pop agenda, told us who was cool and what to wear, introduced us to reality television (and Jenny McCarthy — shoutout to Singled Out!), and broke the biggest news in pop culture and music, like the death of Kurt Cobain. Nirvana's front man was on the cover of PEOPLE April 25, 1994 issue and, over at MTV, Bill Bellamy was in the middle of the music industry. Bill joins us to pay homage to Cobain, who he interviewed at the MTV Beach House shortly before the singer's suicide in 1994. He sticks around to dish on his '90s life: coining the term "booty call" as a stand-up comic; his "did-they-didn't-they" relationship with Janet Jackson; early Britney Spears; and appearing in a Tupac Shakur video.
