It's Armageddon in the Shed! Apparently. Jeff, Jon and Roge are back discussing the week that was with Spurs getting praised, Chelsea getting questioned and Man City causing Armageddon. Has Sarri got to change his formation? Is Pochettino working miracles at Spurs and will Liverpool stop Man City's path of destruction? Also watch out for Mooy, Southampton, Fulham, Alan Hutton's "wonder" goal and the Copa Libertadores. Enjoying the Shed? Last week, in our breaking news special regarding the Irish national team management position we discussed the future of Irish football. Fast forward to Sunday and not only have the FAI hired their next manager, they've also hired the next manager after that! Premier League returned to action this week without much going on. Two title contenders winning comfortably enough. Arsenal continued their unbeaten run. But Man United were the ones who slumped to a laborious 0-0 draw at home to Crystal Palace. Fans booing the team off the pitch at the end of both halves. Tottenham won comfortably 3-1. By far their best performance of the season. La Liga had another twist in the tale this week. Real Madrid lost 3-0 at Eibar. Atletico drew 1-1 with Barcelona, Diego Costa and Ousmane Dembele the goal scorers Bayern's form continues to be terrible. Were 3-1 up with 30 minutes to go against Dusseldorf only to draw 3-3. They are now 9 points off Dortmund in 5th place. This week N'Golo Kanté signed a bumper, 5 years, 325,000£ a week contract at Chelsea. On Saturday, his side were on the end of their first defeat of the season and first defeat under new manager Maurizio Sarri. A humiliating and humbling display leaves Chelsea in 4th place and only 1 point ahead of rivals Arsenal. But Kanté's role remains a mystery. How does Sarri solve the Kanté puzzle? PSG vs. Liverpool/Napoli vs. Red Star Belgrade. Only 2 points between top and bottom in this group, could go any way. Neymar and Mbappe may be out for PSG. Tottenham vs. Inter Milan. Only 3 points separating the sides as they meet at Wembley. There's a big Sunday ahead of us in the Premier League too, no doubt Sky will be advertising it as some sort of Derby Sunday or some such variation: Chelsea vs. Fulham at 1200 Arsenal vs. Tottenham at 1405 Liverpool vs. Everton at 1615 Contact us: @thetfpod on Twitter and @totalfootballpod on Instagram or email us at theTFpod@gmail.com Remember to rate/review the show on your podcast provider of choice and do tell friends and family about the show. The Premier League is back with a Spurs and Aleksandar Mitrovic infused bang and we talk all about it, because that’s very much what this podcast is about. We’re also delighted to be chatting about Claudio Ranieri and his delightful methods as once again pizza solves everything. Further down the leagues Alan Hutton definitively peaks in spectacular fashion, while in South America the Copa Libertadores descends into chaos and we touch upon the very important topic of eggings. Brilliant. The city is once more Aston Villa’s, but was there any doubt of that fact? Any at all?Aston Villa rollocked Birmingham City with 4 goals to two to secure another victory in the Second City Derby. Gary Monk’s Blues could only take the lead once during the game, with their other goal proving to be nothing more than a consolation.Daniel Raza and James Rushton have got plenty to talk about in this latest Aston Villa Holtecast, so strap yourself in and enjoy. The pair talk the 4-2 win over Blues, Alan Hutton’s legendary status at Villa, Villa’s youth development and preview the upcoming Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough matches.Oh, and up the Villa! After a win against Fulham at Villa Park, Aston Villa are the form team in the Championship as they go into the Second City derby at St Andrews. A win against Birmingham City and they'll become automatic promotion contenders for real.David and Dan discuss Villa's current form, Pep Guardiola's ball problem and the man with the shortest Villa career ever in the hunt to be a Premier League manager, before getting into the Fulham game and previewing the battle against the Blues.Other questions answered include: Is Onomah the secret weapon? Is Whelan a weapon of mass self-destruction? And are Villa a 'one prick pony'?We ears drop in on a phone call from super agent Jorge Mendes (the force behind Wolves' transformation) to Tony Xia, hear what Negatron has to say about the club's social media and Alan Hutton, and there's a message from our sponsor Gabby Power.Apologies in advance to our Irish listeners for the outtakes...And further apologies for the lateness of this episode, but we hope there is a enough madness in it to make up for it!EnjoyUTVPlease do support the show by becoming a MOMS Patron. What's that you say? A Holtecast that isn't just sadness and dour talk about doom, gloom, and relegation? It's true! Today's episode actually gets to talk about wins. Three of them, in fact! And, just to keep things feeling a bit normal, we throw in a loss too. We dive into the recent Villa winning streak (the first such streak since April 2010) and try to decipher if it's an indication of things to come, a fluke, or simply a regression to the mean. We also touch a bit on the ongoing injury crisis (Guess what. By reading this your left knee is now dead. Forever. Welcome to being an Aston Villa fan!) and Steve Bruce's tactics. And, as always, the spectre of Alan Hutton lurks over us all. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
