City are eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table after our 1-0 win over Brentford made it 10 wins in a row. Our victory over Thomas Frank's side means we end the year on a high, and with Liverpool's defeat at Leicester on Tuesday and Chelsea's draw with Brighton on Wednesday, we now have a healthy lead as we head into 2022. Phil Foden scored the only game of the game. City weren't in premium form, but we got the job done against a tricky opponent. It's been a quite remarkable 2021. We have won 36 league games – the most any top-flight side in England has ever managed – including a record 19 away wins. We've also scored 113 league goals, the most by a top-flight team in a single calendar year since 1960. We are witnessing greatness. And that doesn't mean we will definitely win the league this season. Liverpool and Chelsea are fantastic opponents and there are 54 points still to play for – 57 if you're Liverpool. But we are witnessing an incredible period in our club's history. Our consistency is unrivalled, the quality of football mesmeric. After the game we heard from Guardiola and Foden – and joining us in the Matchday Live studio were Joleon Lescott and Shaun Goater. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
