Dave Lukas, The Misfit Entrepreneur_Breakthrough Entrepreneurship
This week's Misfit Entrepreneur is Anthony Trucks. Anthony is a former NFL player, American Ninja Warrior, Best-Selling Author, and Founder of Anthony Trucks Industries and the Shift Method. He's been featured everywhere from NBC, FOX, Netflix, WSJ, Success and INC. Anthony has a heck of a story from starting in the foster care system to realizing and then seeing his NFL dream collapse, to starting his own business, losing it, losing his marriage, and almost his life, but then finding his redemption through a shift. Since the shift, Anthony has become one of the most sought-after speakers, coaches, and consultants out there today. And I've brought him on to further share his story, what he learned and now teaches from his shift, and to get his best wisdom and advice on how to succeed and live a great life, not just as an entrepreneur, but a person in this world. @AnthonyTrucks on Instagram www.IdentityShiftBook.com promo code ME Anthony was and his 3 siblings were given away when he was 3 years into foster care. It was 1986 and it was not a great situation. He was starved in some homes, beaten in others, and put through a lot of very rough stuff. By 6 years old, he was a sad little kid who was angry. At 6, he was placed into the family which is now his family today. He was with them for 8 years and they adopted him. But, they were poor and he grew up poor. His adoptive mom got diagnosed with MS. He tried out for football and was terrible. He checked out and was becoming a statistic. Most people don't know that 75% of in-mates in prison are former foster care cases. As Anthony says, “He beat the odds.” He had an adoptive mom who “loved him past his crazy.” At 15 he made a choice that he didn't want to be a loser. To start, he didn't want to suck at football. He learned to do the things that he didn't want to do or weren't in his current character and he transformed himself into a great ballplayer in 7 months. His biggest shift came from the inside and had this ferocious drive that he had done too much in the dark to get better and transform himself that no one was going to take it. This manifested in him being a top ballplayer and ultimately getting a scholarship to play at Oregon. He made it to the NFL and tore his shoulder out in his 3rd year. He was a dad at 21 and had a family, but no paycheck. At this point, he had a massive identity crisis. Things came tumbling down. His marriage fell apart. The businesses he started failed. Then his adoptive mom passed away from MS. This was a wake-up call. It took him another 2 years to really wake up and change his life, but his mother's death was the seed that grew into it. At the 11:30 mark, Anthony talks about the moment before his mom passed away and his friend put things in perspective. This also was a seed that helped him in the future. A friend told him “This is your reality.” Those 4 words unlocked everything he had been experiencing. He cried and just drove to the middle of nowhere not telling anyone and his family and friends got worried. The police found him and brought him home. The next day he went to the gym and a friend he had since childhood told him, “Never do something like that ever again. When I found what happened, I thought I lost a hero.” This made Anthony realize life is worth living and gave perspective. All of the craziness of his life had meaning. How does someone choose their identity? And how do they develop their life's vision and know they have it right? We either assume or survive into our identity. A lot of people set goals for other people's dreams. You have set your own scale and truly answer the question of what you really want. Once you have decided – let know tell you it cannot be done, or it is not what you want. You need to then align your identity with what you want. Who is the person you must become to get what you want? What does that person need to do live into that? What habits must you start or develop or stop? What actions do you need to take each day? At the 24:30 mark, we talk about Simone Biles as an example of someone who may have lost her identity or being out of alignment with it in her exit from the Olympics (It was not revealed until much later that she had a death in her family which did impact her). It's best to just listen to our discussion. Do hard things to get stronger… The Shift Method has 3 steps, what are they? See: This is where you find your optimal zone. Find your specific areas that you need to work on. Shift: Action ends suffering. Put a plan in place of the action items you need to do to improve in the areas you need to work on. Sustain: Discipline. When you begin to shift, it will feel out of character and thus lends itself to quitting before you get your breakthrough. You must be disciplines to do the actions. You must do what needs to be done to become the person you know you should be. You must not stop. What are some of the biggest lessons you've learned from your entrepreneur journey? It's a journey of predictable failure. Fail and learn, fail and learn, etc. Entrepreneurship is an identity in itself. It is incredibly difficult and incredibly rewarding. Entrepreneurship helps you find what you are truly meant to do. Best Quote: There are two types of people in this world: Those that work and those that watch. Make sure you bow for your audience. Anthony's Misfit 3: The biggest room in the world is the room for improvement. Fall in love with the day, not just the destination. Enjoy the journey. There are two types of people in this world: Those that work and those that watch. Make sure you bow for your audience. Welcome back to the Catapulting Commissions Sales Talk with your host, Anthony Garcia. We're back with Part 2 of our conversation with Ashley South, National Executive Director of Color Street and CEO of Ashley's Nail Addiction. Today, they're continuing their conversation surrounding sales and breaking down Ashley's perspective on sales leadership. We met Ashley last episode where she shared how she made the transition from a “traditional” job to sales leadership. Ashley believes ‘motivation' can be misleading. Many people believe that you need to feel motivated at all times in order to show up to achieve their goals. The truth is, motivation isn't constant. It's not always rainbows and unicorns. You make the decision to run a business--you show up whether you feel motivated or not. You have to keep the doors open. As Anthony puts it--motivation without execution is just waste. Ashley has developed dozens of leaders, she feels that there are natural-born leaders, but that isn't the only way to become a leader. With the right nurturing, people without that natural edge can still be incredible leaders. If you don't believe that, you're missing out on a lot of talented people. The number one job to do as a sales leader is to recruit, develop, and retain top talent. You're selling and executing the dream, not the product. The culture you create will reflect that. It's hard to walk away from a culture that you want to be a part of, and it's attractive to want to be a part of for new talent. Empower your team to get something out of their life that they don't yet see for themself. Failure is a part of the job. The difference maker that sets apart a bump in the road from a catastrophe is shifting the mindset. You have to prepare for failure and talk yourself into coming in if it happens. It is learning--the more you're willing to fail and the higher tolerance you have, the more successful you can be. Ashley and Anthony flip the tables and Ashley asks a few of her own questions. The first of which being redefining goals as you find more success. The goal has to get bigger and scarier--that's it. You get to a point where it's not always monetary. Have some people count on you, that's the simplest way to get there. Accountability goes a long way. From there, think legacy. There's wealth, generational wealth, and generational legacy. It's easy to pass down money to your kids--what about their kids? And those after that? Create an independent drive. Excuses always rear their head when goals aren't met. Anthony's least favorite is when someone doesn't even try. If you don't try, that means you believed the circumstances and refused to apply your skills. You need to care more about your success than your manager. Communicate what will happen when failure happens. Ashley and Anthony are partnering in an exciting new collaboration. Everyone on Ashley's team will be reading the Catapulting Commissions book as a part of their book club, which will be followed by a goals workshop with Anthony, who will be speaking on the topics covered in the book. Interested in doing the same? Reach out to Anthony's team to find ways to collaborate. LINKS http://ashleysnailaddiction.com/ https://www.instagram.com/ashleysnailaddiction/

In today's episode, I speak with Anthony Teresi about his new book, Rippling Waves. We talk about humanity, spirituality, dimensions of consciousness, clairvoyance, sound and the Tarot and how all this comes together in the healing for yourself and for Gaia… our Mother Earth. Anthony Teresi's life's work has been the development, refinement, exploration and mastery of the highest intuitive and psychic realities of consciousness. Anthony has a lifetime of extensive study and experience in the fields of clairvoyance, psychic phenomenon, metaphysics, cosmology, mysticism, theosophy, ontology, philosophy, astrology and psychology. Anthony's given gifts allow him to tune in to the realm of Universal Knowing, unlocking the hidden mysteries of existence. This has granted him access to a doorway from humanity to The Beyond. This Knowing empowers him to see and to hear and more importantly, to interpret, spirit messages and inner truths of the greatest import. Traveling this mystical path, he ultimately expanded and evolved to realize his full destiny as a psychic, master astrologer, healer, seer, empath and intuit. This journey flowed into cosmic attunement, musical revelations, multi-faceted creativity and artistic expression. The melding of all of these powerful elements has forged in him a deep insight into the limitless nature of Being, and that surrounding every living thing are angels, and angelic power, and our own guides to help us along our way. He is a multidimensional traveler working with the highest intuitive, psychic, and visionary forces. Anthony fuses his natural gifts with the intellect and wisdom born of many lifetimes of experience to create a special language that has inspired countless souls as they gain an understanding of the unseen forces that shape and transform all of our lives. With his remarkable new book Rippling Waves: A Spiritual Journey Through the Heart of the Universe, Anthony brings us along with him on one of his journeys back to the source of our creation then onward to the future of Humanity. Website Book Facebook Instagram Twitter LinkedIn We are not here to be weighed down with dogmatic ritual. We are here to find enlightenment and to be creative loving beings. 5 Dimensions of Consciousness Transformational Consciousness Transcendence Consciousness Cosmic Consciousness Divine Consciousness Evolutionary Consciousness This book will show you how to find the inspiration to feel that there is more to life than the five senses. Intuition is an ability everyone can access. Anthony calls his own psychic abilities 4th generational, but he also says that it's not the biology that matters but that he was accepted and nurtured with a knowing of these gift. There are so many ways to open up and look beneath the surface. His book talks about how the frequency range of true reality is eternal and most people are stuck in a very narrow bandwidth of frequency. When we open up beyond the five senses, so much can be uncovered, We talked about Sound Healing and how in the not too distant future, the physician of the day will be the ones that will be able to manipulate the frequencies for healing. And we discussed the Tarot and how the Tarot is an oracle. It will tell you things that are not available to you in any other context especially if you use some degree of clairvoyance. The Tarot is an information rich picture. If you allow yourself to open up your senses, to impact you from beyond your mind, wonderful things can come forward. As Anthony says, “Look in your heart. Find that love. Connect with other fellow human beings. That's what we are here for.” Journey through life with an awareness of love. Love will prevail. We are one species. Show Notes 4/19/21 0:00 - Anthony vs Nick: Is motivation real? You cannot depend on how you feel that day, to allow you to do the thing you need to do. So with that being said what is your “why” to keep it going consistently? 0:02 - Little bit of background on Coach Nick and his motivation. Who Is metaphorically counting on me? My teammates and the people I am going to be up against. I don’t want to be the one to fail my end of the bargain. 0:04 - People that make excuses to cover up the area that they are lacking in. They don’t hold themselves accountable. 0:10 - Not everyone who comes to the gym has goals. As a coach we take the time to correct and perfect movement but for many of the recipients of those corrections is not here to be perfect. 0:15 - You have to do the individual work in order to see the results you want. If you are looking to do double understand flawlessly it will not come with doing them a few times in class every month, more work has to be done. 0:23 - W discuss certain stress levels, common everyday stressors, and stresses specific to each of us. 0:30 - Exercise can help your stress tolerance. We dive into this later in the episode but anxiety can be helped by consistent exercise. In order to perform repetitive exercise you have to be comfortable with a certain level of pain and discomfort which those suffering from anxiety and panic attacks often can’t tolerate. In fitness that pain and discomfort has to be tolerated in order to make progress. 0:38 - As Anthony has previously talked about concerning, The Problem with Weight Loss Podcast, we have our own convention about their “healthy at any size” topic. 0:45 - Society effects all. Diving deeper into the pressure that women and men face in light of being “strong” and how they deal with shame and comparing their physique. 0:54 - Did you ever realize that the symptoms/side effects of eating disorders are also what we tell people to do in order to lose weight? 1:00 - What physical potential are you trying to reach? Very few are trying to obtain that high level athlete life. What are you gunning for and what do you NEED to do to get there? 1:04 - Still on the topic of comparison all four of us give our thoughts on the separate challenges presented with dealing with what we see on social media. And an interesting mention by Anthony, how our family or significant can be our second worst saboteur. —

This week’s episode of the Catapulting Commissions podcast is going to be a journey, y’all. Recently, Anthony was in a position where he needed to purchase a new vehicle. What happened though, was Anthony walked away from one dealership to another further away, to purchase the same vehicle at almost price point. Why? Today Anthony is breaking down the four biggest mistakes he saw from the consumer’s perspective. For the sake of anonymity, the dealership Anthony purchased his BMW Sedan from will be called Dealership A, and the one he walked away from, Dealership B. The first mistake Anthony saw during his experience at Dealership B was there was no needs assessment. The car wasn’t really SOLD to him. There was no discussion on where he was driving, no questions regarding what his family or he wanted out of a car, nothing of the sort. There was no rapport building at all! The second mistake is key. In car sales, there is turnover--a moment where the sales manager comes in to close. When that happens, it’s essential to set them up for success. In this situation, the sales person’s approach was “my manager can negotiate more than I can.” When he said that, expectations went through the roof. That made the conversation much different. The last two mistakes fall on the sales manager. This person is the closer, the defining voice of the sale, and a person who should excel in their industry. But, this individual actually gave Anthony reason to drive over an hour away to purchase the same vehicle at nearly the same pricepoint. The third mistake was a lack of professionalism. You cannot lack this in the sales process, you’re under a microscope. This is one of those mistakes that has a lot of weight. The way you dress, act, and carry yourself means a lot. As a consumer, we don’t care what your day has been like. There is an understanding that there would be a professional conversation. This individual wasn’t dressed professionally, and the first thing he said was “Today has been horrible. It’s Friday and I’m trying to get out of here.” Yikes. How does that make the consumer feel? That moment turned the tide. When the time came to discuss the price of the car, there was a clear disconnect between the price points. When Anthony brought this up and asked what it would take to get closer, the response was “You’re looking at the wrong vehicle. We’re wasting each other’s time.” Then, he stood up and left. When you’re the closer and you act like that, you disrespect your customer and the salesperson who is trying to feed their family. The fourth mistake during this process was a lack of respect. DO NOT DISRESPECT YOUR CUSTOMERS. DO NOT DISRESPECT ANYONE. As Anthony and his family got up to leave, the salesperson attempted to re-explain the value in the car they were looking at. During that moment, the manager returned, threw a piece of paper at Anthony, said “This is the final offer. Take it or leave it.” and walked away. Anthony has two daughters at home. They don’t throw things. Was it a better offer? Yeah. But it didn’t matter. Despite follow up, no deal could be done. The disrespect was immovable. Dealership A, the shop Anthony DID purchase from is Valencia BMW in Valencia, California. Anthony met this salesperson online through email and then by over the phone. Immediately, that person conducted a needs analysis. When they discussed pricing and they were separated, Anthony again brought it up. But this time, the response was “I can take care of that for you.” Because his next offer was close and he was so helpful, they made the trip. There wasn’t one customer there being disrespected or being made felt like a bother. Because of that, it wasn’t a price issue. As they waited for their paperwork to be processed, they overheard a sale that wasn’t going through. Even then, there was no disrespect. No one felt uncomfortable. It was about trying to solve a problem. That salesperson shook the person’s hand and walked them out, didn’t allow them to leave alone. In the end, it hurts to know someone with a bad attitude can hurt a community’s well-being. LINKS https://anthonypgarcia.com/

His original idea was to use trading as supplemental income but realized that there is a lot more potential there. As Anthony kept learning more about the markets he realized that he had a lot more to learn. He spent a good amount of time reading books and watching video online about the topic. He also realized that there was more opportunity in the US market versus the Canadian market. Currently he is focusing on trading strictly in the morning while maintaining his regular job. While he aspires to trade full time he realizes that it would be irresponsible to quit a steady job before he’s truly proven he is consistent. These are all just some of the talking points we hit. Let’s get to it! Notes: Today we interview community member Anthony. While he’s not completely new, he is still on the journey. Anthony is focusing on getting licensed in Canada to manage others money if he so chooses. Ultimately this will be an option he can choose to utilize if he would like. Options in the job market is always a positive. Similar to any profession, a key to progressing forward is the ability to recognize your strengths and your weaknesses. Anthony is familiar with where he is falling short but also realizes what attributes help him make money on a regular basis. Quotes: I do feel comfortable trading on my own but I’m not comfortable making alerts for other people. I was watching for news that would move the price. I was using line charts at this time too. One day I bought in the first 5 minutes and then it just dropped. I thought ‘it will stop, it will stop, it will stop.’ I gave back all my gains from the prior week. I’d say it’s close to 50/50 but I let the winners ride and cut the losses. Sometimes I still rush into trades and I need to work on that. I also need to spend more time on education.

Anthony Trucks, former professional football player (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pittsburg Steelers, Washington Redskins), entrepreneur, and motivational speaker talks about his story of adversity, and how he had to change his mindset to overcome being in and out of foster homes as a child, and how he had to deal with the up's and down's of collegiate and professional football. After all the obstacles that Anthony had faced and conquered throughout his life, he contributes his success to believing in himself, proving his worth, and being motivated by his family. As Anthony would say to anyone that is striving to change their life or grinding out to be the best they can be... "Trust Your Hustle".
“You should see my glitter collection, it’s magnificent.” Any interview containing a quote like that is going to be amazing. Often, at events like My Little Pony conventions, Anthony, a six-foot bearded DJ and cosplayer, likes dressing in pink, pretty, frilly outfits. “I’m aware this lies outside what might be considered normal or usual for someone who most people would consider to be a man.” As a child, Anthony imagined himself as Chitara, the female Thundercat from the 80s cartoon. He thought this was because he liked the idea of being fast. Having questioned his gender, Anthony has been forced to consider what, really, defines gender. “Give me a trait which is universally held by all women, or is not held by any men.” So how do we define gender? As Anthony says, “If I can’t find a rigid framework, surely it doesn’t really exist.”
When Anthony hits a snag in how he feels he should approach a managerial or administrative issue within his business or with one of his clients, he turns to Dave Brock, his guest on today’s episode. Dave is one of those guys that Anthony and many others felt should write a book, but the guy is simply so busy he’s never had time. But now, suddenly, he’s cranked out his first book and says that he’s got a series of books in the works based on this first one. The Sales Manager’s Survival Guide is the book Anthony has been looking for - over 400 pages and worth every second it takes you to read. You can get some insights into Dave’s brilliant sales mind and why you should grab a copy of this book, on this episode. Dave Brock has known for many years that he’s a sales leader. He’s been in many companies and positions that indicate it to be so. But when he sat down to do some updates on an older ebook, things simply came flowing out of him, sales concepts and strategies, managerial insights and lessons learned, and much more. Over the course of a few months, his 400+ page book, “The Sales Manager’s Survival Guide” was birthed. As Anthony and Dave chat today you’re going to hear many examples of the kind of insight and wisdom Dave has poured into his book, so be sure you grab a pen and paper to take some great notes. Why sales managers need to “do nothing” for the first 90 days. Dave Brock believes that one of the toughest roles is that of sales manager and one of the toughest transitions to make is from salesperson to sales manager. When asked what a brand new sales manager should do in his first 30 to 90 days, Dave said, “Nothing.” He goes on to explain that he’s not talking about being lazy or simply sticking with the status quo. What he means is that the sales manager needs to spend a good deal of time coming to understand the lay of the land, the people, the systems, the frameworks that are in place already. When he/she takes the time to think through his environment. The dangers new Sales Managers face in their first 30 to 90 days, and how to address themClick To Tweet Do you know the difference between management and coaching? Sales managers have to assess their team’s numbers, contacts, and CRM systems. It’s part of the job, and an aspect that the powers that be in the company care a great deal about. But those are not the most productive parts of what the manager does. The most important and critical thing for the sake of his/her own productivity and the team’s overall success is the time he spends coaching his team. On this episode Dave Brock goes deeply into how sales managers can do a better job at coaching, why they MUST do so, and what they can do to up their game in that area. “This book is the very best in its class.” That’s what Anthony says about Dave’s book, “The Sales Manager’s Survival Guide” - and he knows, he’s read everything in the field. The book is not only a practical how-to for new sales managers, it’s also a “reset” for the experienced sales manager who has perhaps gotten off course, become distracted, or lost his way in the morass of company politics. Dave’s book is a must read for every sales manager, no matter how long he/she has been in the game. It’s one of the most actionable, helpful books you’ll ever read, so be sure you listen to Dave’s chat with Anthony on this episode and grab a copy of the book as soon as possible. Life on Fire TV (Audio) – Online Business Coaching With Nick Unsworth
Ever wondered how to get JV partners? Here today to tell us how to get BIG JV partners is Anthony Amos! Author of the book, “How to Catch a Shark”, Anthony shares his tips on how to create relationships with influential people. Anthony notes that when it comes to creating business ventures with highly successful people, rather than attempting to approach the person directly, you are far better off meeting them through one of their existing contacts who is worthy for them to take notice. What he found was establishing a relationship starts with truly being congruent with the influencer. One way to determine whether that’s possible is to study personality types. First, it starts with knowing your personality type. From there, it’s studying the other types that exist so that you can quickly identify characteristics upon meeting people in order to better understand them and better communicate with them. When structuring your “offer” (aka, what you want from the “shark”), you will be successful far more often if you seek to add value first. Nearly everyone who approaches major influencers and highly successful entrepreneurs is looking to take before they give, which is the total wrong approach. So, what should someone new do? The main thing is just keep moving forward and take imperfect action toward your business goal. That will always trump sitting around and trying to plan out every detail before beginning. There will inevitably be things in your business that you don’t like doing or shouldn’t do. Anthony’s advice is to bring in other people to handle those tasks and give them a percentage of the revenue and ownership for doing so. You always want to retain control of your business, but all that requires is 51%, which leaves you 49% to work with! Your playbook is: 1. Get your concept to market as quickly as possible. 2. Refine your concept based on real world testing and results 3. Seek out partners who can come on board and assist with the aspects of the business you need to delegate 4. Position yourself to add value to your “shark” Ultimately, people want to connect with other people who they like. As Anthony puts it, “The authenticity of your personality is the creation of everything you want.” So, take massive action, seek to add value, and start working on your “shark plan” today!
