The Academy Award-nominated actor Eric Roberts -- the famously prolific thespian who somehow filmed Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" and Larry The Cable Guy's "Witless Protection" at the same time -- joins Phil and David for tasty sandwiches from Lorenzo California and a wild conversation. Joined at the table for part of the episode by Eric's beloved wife and manager Eliza Roberts, Eric discussed many aspects of his extraordinary life and career, from having Dr. Martin Luther King cut his birthday cake as a child, to his acclaimed work in movies like "The Pope of Greenwich Village" with Mickey Rourke, "Runaway Train" with Jon Voight and working with his favorite director ever, Bob Fosse in "Star 80." Eric also reads a few passages from his brutally candid 2024 memoir, "Runaway Train: Or, The Story Of My Life So Far," and shares his thoughts about the work onscreen he admires from his sister Julia Roberts, his daughter Emma Roberts, as well as the music of his stepson Keaton Simons, and so much more. What up Fellas!

In this episode, Dave and Chris take a two-for-one deep dive into George Harrison's “Here Comes the Sun” and its lesser-known companion (or sequel?) “Here Comes the Moon.” We explore the songs' origins, lyrics, inspiration, unique musical elements (Moog synthesizer!), Ringo's problems playing the meter changes, and a surprise uncredited co-writer for "Here Comes the Moon." As usual, we mention notable covers — from the Concert for Bangladesh and SNL to versions by Nina Simone, Yusuf/Cat Stevens, Peter Tosh and more — and speculate as to why "Here Comes The Sun" is the most-streamed Beatles song while "Here Comes The Moon" is a hidden gem. Squinty ran away and Bob asked Don to go and bring him back. Don finds Squinty and they watch Mappo and Tum Tum near the circus wagons. Squinty doesn't want to go home and tries to convince Don to run away with him but Don says no. Squinty asks and asks until they are back on the farm and he is back in his pen. Don cannot stop thinking about Squinty talking about running away and thinks maybe it is something to consider. ✔️ Perfect for ages 5+ Sleep Tight!, Sheryl & Clark ❤️

Bob says he and Don can get the bull back into the pasture and off they go. This is the story of my rock and roll butler. Welcome to the Rock and Roll Geek Show. 00:00:22 My name is Michael Butler. Thanks a lot for joining me. I really appreciate it. 00:00:25 Today is Thursday, July 17th, 16th, July 26th, it is 9 or 4 p.m. when I’m recording this. 00:00:38 We’re at a dive bar in Omaha, Nebraska called the Fontan Club. Supposedly this is one of the oldest bars in Nebraska. I’m here with Raquel, the undisclosed girl, the beautiful, beautiful undisclosed girl. We’re in Omaha, Nebraska, this place is supposedly the oldest bar, it used to be one of the jockeys, there used to be a horse track, we’re in Oscarbon District, whatever, Nebraska spelled backwards, 00:01:12 that’s the name of this district we’re in. You can hear some noise going on at the dive bar. There used to be a horse track here, supposedly, and all the jockeys used to hang out here and drink, but it’s not, there’s no horse track here anymore. 00:01:31 It doesn’t get much diver than this place, but this is a good, we picked a good one here. And the owner seems like a nice guy, what’s his name? Jace. 00:01:39 Jace, J-A-C-E. His great grandma opened it in the 1970s. Yeah, he said his great grandma bought this place in the 70s. Named, it’s the Fan Tan Club, which is spelled F-A-N-T-A-N, 00:01:52 supposedly it’s a Chinese card game of some sort. If you’re Chinese, let me know what that is, rockandrollgeekatgmail.com. 00:02:01 We left Cheyenne, Wyoming this morning and drove seven, over seven and a half hours. That was one long drive. Last night we hung out with Dan Grossman, had a little too much to drink. 00:02:21 We went to a place called the Corner something, the Crown Bar. We had quite a few, the girl, the bartender there looked like she was about 18 years old. She had a nose ring and half her hair was white, half her hair was black, wearing shorts covered in tattoos, a little chubby, boobs hanging out, a little goth, kind of gothy looking. 00:02:44 It was a cool bar and we managed to pick some pretty good dive bars. We’ve been pretty good at it. We carry our own koozies with us. 00:02:54 It always impresses the people at these places when you bring your own koozie. Let me pro tip. We must have had about six or seven beers last night. I think Dan got a little bit, but while I got so drunk, not so drunk, 00:03:11 the room was spinning before I went to bed, but managed to make it through. Dan made it home. I think he had like a two hour drive. 00:03:20 They did a nice place, I’m sorry, Ken Grossman, what am I talking about? Ken Grossman, sorry Ken. You’re now called Dan. 00:03:31 You’re now Dan Grossman. Ken Grossman, the rock and roll Dan Grossman. We had a good time with him. 00:03:38 It was really nice seeing him. We’re going to be driving to Bowling Brook, Illinois tomorrow. We’re going to meet up with Jeffrey Zalapagalos. Jeffrey Zalapagalos, I don’t know how to pronounce his last name, 00:03:57 but he came and met with us in Milwaukee. Joe Pollack was there with his girlfriend, his fiancee Gina. Jeff Fee-la-la-licky was there. 00:04:09 So Jeff Zalapagalos is going to be meeting us tomorrow. We’re going to go watch a blues band if we make it. It’s a six hour and 40 minute drive. 00:04:19 It’s been fun. We’re over halfway. Have you been having fun, Raquel? 00:04:25 A blast. Yes, we’ve been having a blast. So we’re over halfway. 00:04:33 We’re expecting to get to the undisclosed location in New York on Monday. A little tired because we’ve been driving all day. We had ice cream for breakfast. 00:04:41 We stayed at a place called Little America. One dollar ice cream cones. Left about 930 in the morning and had some ice cream cones and hit the road. 00:04:54 And here we are in Omaha, Nebraska in the Ashkenazic District. Whatever Nebraska is backwards. We’re going to have a few beers here. 00:05:08 I’m going to say goodbye. That’s a little update from the road. We’re on I-80 the whole way. 00:05:12 We actually got off I-80. For some reason, it routed us around I-80. But we’re back on I-80. 00:05:17 So if anybody’s on I-80, on our route, send me an email. 00:05:22 Rockandrollgeek.gmail.com. 00:05:23 I would love to meet up with you. Oh, I also forgot to say that Joe Pawlak sent me a $250 Penske truck donation about four days ago. And I’m an asshole for not seeing it. 00:05:36 So my apologies, Joe Pawlak, my bodyguard. But thank you so much to Joe for topping everybody’s Penske truck donation. It really helps, and I appreciate it. 00:05:47 Joe Pawlak, one hell of a guy. And if you ever—he likes to travel the country and meet fellow Rock and Roll Geek friends. So look Joe Pawlak up. 00:06:00 He won’t disappoint. Trust me on that one, friends. Don’t let him sit in your Plexiglas chair, though, because he might break it. 00:06:08 Joe Pawlak, great guy, and his beautiful fiancee, Gina. All right, I’m going to wrap it up here. We’re not going to see Joe Pawlak because he’s going to Rush tonight. 00:06:20 Some other band that I don’t remember the name of tomorrow. He’s going to ACDC on Saturday. So we’re not going to meet him. 00:06:27 We’re not going to see him on this trip. But hopefully we’ll see. We might meet up with—who’s the guy in Detroit? 00:06:37 Jonathan Travers. We might meet up with Jonathan Travers. I’m not sure if we’re going to make it to Detroit or not. 00:06:43 But if we do, I’ll meet up with Jonathan Travers. Paul from The Strangers is playing in Toledo tomorrow. I don’t think we’re going to catch that. 00:06:52 We might head that way at some point. I’m not sure. I would love to hang out and have a beer with you tomorrow or along this trip, friends. 00:07:01 rockandrollgeek.gmail.com All right, that’s going to wrap it up. 00:07:04 Some people are coming here. It’s a little bit loud. 00:07:08 rockandrollgeek.com is where you can find the show. 00:07:10 Email me, rockandrollgeek at gmail.com. Find me on the Facebook R&R Geek. 00:07:15 Find me on the Twitter R&R Geek. Find me on Instagram, rockandrollgeek, don’t ask. JB Skull sent me a nice audio comment, which I will probably play sometime on this trip with some good advice about being divorced. 00:07:32 I look forward to that. All right, friends, I’ll talk to you soon. Keep up with the road songs. 00:07:39 I’m going to play… Here’s The Runaways. I’ll talk to you tomorrow, friends. The post On the road in a Penske Truck day 4- Omaha Nebraska first appeared on The Rock and Roll Geek Show.

A campaign is underway to save a runaway pig that prompted a police chase after apparently escaping from a stock truck and wandering on a state highway near Eketahuna. Donald is now potentially in the queue to become bacon. An old law means the Tararua District council was forced to auction-off Donald after no-one claimed him following his antics last month. Sold for $320 dollars, the former escapee has been taken to a farm in Fielding, where the plan is for Donald to soon become dinner. But the Animal Justice Party is hoping that won't happen. Fitzhugh Brundage, author of A Fate Worse Than Hell, discusses the capture of three black sailors from the Isaac Smithin 1863, which forced the Confederacy to decide if black men in uniform were POWs or runaway slaves. While white sailors were quickly exchanged, the Confederacy refused to trade black captives, viewing them as participants in a servile insurrection. A smuggled letter from the sailors eventually reached Washington, contributing to the halt of systematic prisoner exchanges by the spring of 1863. This shift compelled both sides to become long-term custodians of captives. (1)1865

Sexier Than A Squirrel: Dog Training That Gets Real Life Results
Send us Fan MailWelcome to this episode of the Sexier than a Squirrel podcast, the podcast that brings you real-life dog training results, and sometimes human training ones too! This week, Lauren is joined by Linda for a candid conversation about the mistakes that have shaped them as dog trainers and dog owners. Not the polished success stories, but the moments they would do differently, the lessons they learned the hard way, and the experiences that changed how they see dogs forever. From creating a Border Collie with endless intensity and no off switch, to teaching a reactive dog to scan the environment for trouble, they explore how easy it is to accidentally reinforce the very behaviours you're trying to avoid. Along the way, they discuss the hidden cost of drive, arousal and obsession, and why some of the things that look impressive in training can become problematic in everyday life. The conversation also turns to physical wellbeing and the lessons that come with experience. Lauren and Linda share stories of sport dogs who pushed through discomfort, injuries that taught them to look more carefully, and how their views on repetitive ball throwing, impact and canine fitness have evolved over time. You'll hear why high-drive dogs can be particularly difficult to read, and why enthusiasm doesn't always mean a dog's body is coping well.Alongside the serious lessons are plenty of lighter moments too. Runaway dogs, stolen sandwiches, Christmas turkey theft, unexpected chinchillas and the kinds of stories that are funny now, but perhaps weren't quite so funny at the time. Because if you've lived with dogs for long enough, you'll know that some of your greatest learning comes wrapped in chaos. Most importantly, this episode is a reminder that nobody ever knows it all. No matter how many dogs you've owned, how many qualifications you hold, or how much experience you've built, dogs have a remarkable way of keeping you humble. The best trainers aren't the ones who never make mistakes - they're the ones who keep learning from them.Ready to listen in?
