Have you ever felt the constrictive grip of high control environments on your personal freedom and questioned where real safety is found? Gentle Business Coach Ashley Beaudin unravels her own journey through the rigid structures of a Pentecostal church and into the tumultuous world of online entrepreneurship. Together, we traverse a landscape peppered with challenges including external authority, the relentless pursuit of hustle over rest, and the complex interplay between emotional health and business success.Navigating the treacherous waters of personal agency can be daunting, especially when external voices attempt to steer the ship. In our rich conversation, we dissect the impact of 'good girl' programming, probe the importance of listening to our body's wisdom, and embrace the art of finding balance amidst the intense pressures to overcommit. Ashley's raw narrative on the quest for self-sufficiency serves as a beacon for anyone looking to reclaim their autonomy from the clutches of external validation. We explore the dance between power dynamics, ethical marketing, and authentic human connection. Our discussion peels back the layers of manipulative power dynamics in both religious and entrepreneurial spaces, examining how these forces can both empower and ensnare. Ashley Beaudin is one of the most encouraging women I know. I found Ashley on instagram as she was hosting a huge campaign called “The Imperfect Boss Campaign” where she took time to bring thousands of men and women together and honestly share about how imperfect they are as bosses of their businesses. I was so drawn to what this girl was doing. She is so real, raw, and bubbly. Ashley has an interesting journey that I honestly wasn't expecting! She wasn't always her number one fan, and she didn't always think the best of herself. She shares candidly with me how she used to be a sex addict, and how that abuse damaged her mentally and physically. Ashley has broken free of so many lies over herself that now she is helping others break free of their mental prisons and lies they've partnered with as well. How did she get to this place and what is she doing about it now?
Ashley Beaudin is an inspirational speaker, hug-dealer and the visionary of The Imperfect Boss; a movement that is making imperfect normal and inspiring tens of thousands of creative women to grow their confidence. Things we talk about in today’s episode: TRIGGER WARNING: Ashley has a history of abuse and we discuss some of her journey with sexual trauma so if that’s a triggering thing for you, you may want to skip this week’s episode. How entrepreneurship and creating the Imperfect Boss launched her into feeling seen, worthy and loved. Her journey with online sex addiction as a virgin Where we so often derive our self worth from and how it’s so MF backwards How to embrace our imperfections Also, we get weird AF as per the usual and embrace our mutual Canadian-ness. God speaks to His people. And sometimes, God speaks through another person’s words. One of the turning points in Ashley’s life was when a pastor started speaking life into her. In her words, “He saw things inside of me that were good, and he told me about them.” And because of that, she started using her gifts… Her words… Her life… To impact others. You matter. You are seen. Your life makes a difference. And you can make a difference to other people. The Lord can use you to build... To encourage… To strengthen... To bring healing… If you’ve ever felt unseen… If you’ve ever like you didn’t know your purpose… If you’ve ever felt like you are “side-lined” from serving because of your past… You need to listen in on this conversation. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/createdforstrength/support

A lot of us need to delegate and don't, and when we do we're not always as effective as we should be. Sometimes it's the fear of someone not being able to do the task the “right” way (which is actually key for not doing it “your” way). Sometimes it's not know what you need to delegate in the first place. Today's guest is Ashley Cox of SproutHR, and she's sharing with us the three mistakes people make when delegating. And if you're on the fence about delegating or are currently delegating but not sure you're doing it right, you're going to want to listen in. Because according to Ashley: “Your ability or inability to delegate effectively will 100% make or break your business growth.” And I have to agree with her completely. Don't be afraid of having to teach someone something; if you hire the right people they'll actually be able to do it without you teaching them. And if you're spending time doing things that aren't what people paying you money for, why are you still doing those tasks? It's time to free up your time for the things that bring money into your business. But before you do, listen in as Ashley warns us about the mistakes we might make while delegating, complete with action steps to help you do it right. About Ashley Cox Ashley Cox of SproutHR helps business owners avoid getting bogged in the day to day grind of running a biz and foster the skills they need to lead happy and high functioning teams that get results. She has over 12 years experience in Fortune 25 companies and solo-run businesses. Key Points to Ponder Before you start delegating, look into creating systems and automations in your business. If you plan on growing and scaling your business, delegating tasks is a thing you're going to have to learn and do well. “They won't do it the right way” is code for “They won't do it MY way.” You can't expect your team members to know what to do without clear communication from you first. “Do you have any questions” is not the right question to ask to ensure your team members understand the task at hand. The way to grow forward-thinking businesses is not controlling all the little details, but rather allowing our teams to come together and to do their jobs. Mentioned in this episode Ashley's new favorite book is Daring Greatly by Brene Brown. Kim is currently reading When Perfect Isn't Good Enough. Ashley recommends The Imperfect Boss Camp and Ashley Beaudin's #imperfectbosses campaign. Ashley is currently loving historical televisions like Vikings.

Opening up to others is one of the hardest things to do. When we do practice vulnerability, what happens is an authentic connection with another human being that is wonderfully sweet. But...knowing the rewards of honesty is still not enough sometimes for us to break the ice. It’s helpful when there is someone else to pave the way and that’s one of the many reasons why I love Ashley Beaudin. I reached out to Ashley early on in the formation of this podcast, and I’ve been excited to have her on the show since. Ashley is passionate about online community building, and she knows that it all starts with honesty + bravery. Ashley's signature movement, Imperfect Boss, helps to normalize imperfection in all things. Nobody’s perfect, and Ashley’s doesn’t just acknowledge imperfections...she embraces them. Among her many passions are donuts, meeting people, and changing lives. Get to know the real Ashley with me today as we break apart a recent Instagram post that is radically honest and incredibly real. We cover topics like her childhood, body image, sex addictions, and receiving government assistance. Ashley’s story has a little bit for everyone, and I am inspired and in awe by her bravery in the face of adversity. Shall we? Listen in to hear Ashley and I talk about: Our favorite donuts. Ashley's is a sour cream glaze while mine is anything maple bacon. Ashley’s recent Instagram post (she was on a mission to disrupt shame) and 5 of her super honest imperfections - a sexting addiction and never been kissed are just 2 of them! Feeling uncertain in your own body and the impact of your parents growing up - from feeling rejected to lacking basic self-care. How Ashley has struggled with her sexting addiction and intimate relationships. How faith and church culture impacted Ashley’s ability to grow. Battling shame and fear when going on financial assistance. Why Ashley ended up having 12 teeth pulled at a men’s homeless shelter. Sometimes the noise can feel overwhelming - like a stereo that blasts you awake and you can't turn it off. Sometimes, though, it's less obvious ... like the sound of dripping water that you can't quite get out of your head. In today's episode, I sit down with Ashley Beaudin to talk about losing our voice in the noise of the internet. That noise that sometimes very visibly deafens our own voice, and other times does so without us even realizing what's happening. This is the constant struggle for online entrepreneurs. Ashley and I talk about the "should"s of all the noise that seemingly steer us in the wrong direction. We share about our own struggles with overwhelm and how this has shown up in our own businesses. And Ashley shares some beautiful insight into how to live and lead amongst so much noise, as well as a confession of hers as the fearless leader of the imperfect boss campaign and community.
