Two players with Henrico ties were selected in the 2024 Major League Baseball Draft this week. The Baltimore Orioles made Griff O'Ferrall – the starting shortstop for the University of Virginia and a former Glen Allen Youth Athletic Association player who graduated from St. Christopher's School – the 38th player selected in the draft when they took him in the Prospect Promotion Incentive portion of the draft (between the first and second rounds). O'Ferrall, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound shortstop, was rated as MLB.com's 38th-best prospect in the draft. “While O'Ferrall doesn't have any eye-popping tools, he gets every ounce out of...Article LinkSupport the Show.

Amanda, Nick and Ryan are back and breaking down a wild string of developments in baseball. Kevin Mather's comments have shed light on what we all knew but couldn't concretely prove until this point - that the owners, and in this case president, of the MLB do not care about winning, but saving and pocketing money. We then turn to one President/GM that does care in Mike Rizzo, quietly building one of the best bullpens in baseball right under our noses with the addition of Jeremy Jeffress. Then, Amanda sits down and talks to Maria Torres, who is the new Nats' Report for the Athletic. We get to know Maria as she sheds light on what's going on with the Nats. Though Nintendo hasn't oiled its mitt and strapped on some cleats since 2013's Rusty's Real Deal Baseball, the company is no stranger to America's pastime and has a wealth of prospects in its franchise farm system. As such, its only natural that the NXpress would eventually do a baseball draft of Nintendo characters, and that time is now. This week on the NXpress Nintendo Podcast, Tim and Patrick fill their rosters from the deep stable of Nintendo games, stacking their lineups with speed and power, while trying not to sacrifice fundamental defense. Will they be drawn to traditional ‘eye-test' scouting, or will sabermetrics lead to that championship team? You'll have to tune in to find out who made which surprising picks! Before that, the two catch up on what they've been playing recently. Having finally played through all that Fire Emblem: Three Houses has to offer (and taking over 250 hours to do so), Patrick sends the game off on one last spate of praise. Meanwhile, Tim fills him in on what's been going on in Animal Crossing New Horizons, including describing his island's spooky setup, as well as the new additions coming via DLC. For all this and more, have a listen!

Ready to Unload: with Cal & Sanpete NY Sports Talk Podcast - Episode #132 Recorded live at Blue Haven NYC's Sports Bar for Grownups on Wednesay, March 20th 2013. A splendid time was guaranteed, and had by all... There will be a 30 for 30 someday on Cal's gutty call in performance nursing a (lack of a) gall bladder and our old friend Jay Linder sat in the seat on location and added a ton (that's not a fat joke!) to the show. Jay Mafale again did the sound, and played the part of pop culture PJ, who called in sick with a bad case of his wife's birthday. Great drop ins by brother Scott, Jess, and Dean from great fantasy baseball stories and what "checking the waiver wire" really means, how March Madness has jumped the shark for men of a certain age, and how bread needs to be levened to be bread. Huge thanks again to everyone at Blue Haven, especially Danielle, our server... We'll see you guys Thursday, April 25th! Subscribe to the RTU: Podcast on iTunes
