On the 257th episode of Piecing It Together, Chad Clinton Freeman returns to the podcast to talk about Orphan: First Kill, the bonkers prequel to the bonkers horror movie about a little girl who is not what she seems. Puzzle pieces include Fatal Attraction, The Bad Seed, Changeling and Family Guy.
On the 228th episode of Piecing It Together, it's time for another Super Episode! I'm joined by Robert Yaniz Jr., Rosa Parra, Brian Skutle, Josh Raynor, Joshua Hatcher and Chad Clinton Freeman to talk about one of the most anticipated movies of the year: the new iteration of The Batman starring Robert Pattinson and directed by Matt Reeves. Puzzle pieces include Seven, Zodiac, Halloween and The Godfather.
On the 226th episode of Piecing It Together, I'm joined by Chad Clinton Freeman for a special kind of episode… It's both a Piecing It Together of the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre (now available on Netflix), and a Breaking It Apart of 1974's original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre from Tobe Hooper. We'd wanted to cover the original for a long time and the new one gave us the perfect opportunity to do this special episode like we did a few years back for Halloween. Puzzle pieces include that 2018 Halloween, as well as The Evil Dead, The Hills Have Eyes and Psycho.
On the 198th episode of Piecing It Together, DC super-fan Chad Clinton Freeman returns to the podcast to talk about something he loves, The Suicide Squad, and something he hates, James Gunn. Although as it turns out, The Suicide Squad is his favorite James Gunn film... And I liked it too. Puzzle pieces include Evil Dead 2, Troma's War, Team America: World Police and Overlord.
On the 190th episode of Piecing It Together, Chad Clinton Freeman returns to the podcast to talk about a unique horror film that turns its sights on the British film censorship board during the time of the Video Nasty. Puzzle pieces include The Ring, The Evil Dead, The Assistant and a bunch of Video Nasties.
On the 183rd episode of Piecing It Together, our resident Zack Snyder fan Chad Clinton Freeman and I discuss the Army Of the Dead, Snyder's return to the zombie genre that gave him his start. Zombies invade Las Vegas (my town!) and a bunch of mercenaries have to rob a casino. What could go wrong? Puzzle pieces include Oceans 11, Resident Evil Extinction, The Hurricane Heist and Aliens.
On the 175th episode of Piecing It Together, our resident DCEU fan Chad Clinton Freeman and I discuss the movie that every DCEU fan has been waiting for (despite the chances of it happening being close to zero)... Zack Snyder's Justice League. After a storied and crazy #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign by fans, Warner Bros and HBO Max teamed to make it a reality and it turns out... It's pretty freaking great. Puzzle pieces include Peter Jackson's King Kong, Frankenstein, Reservoir Dogs and Seven Samurai.
On the 8th installment of our Missing Pieces series, Chad Clinton Freeman joins us to talk about his favorite person, Zack Snyder, and one of his favorite movies by his favorite person... 300. And you know what? I hadn't seen it since it came out in 2006 but turns out, I love it too. Puzzle pieces include Clash of the Titans, Mad Max, Wonder Woman and Sin City.
On the 160th episode of Piecing It Together, our resident DCEU fan Chad Clinton Freeman and I discuss Wonder Woman 1984, the follow up to the smash hit Wonder Woman. It was meant to hit theaters this past summer but after Covid-19 delayed it, it's now out simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max, a first for a major superhero movie. Puzzle pieces include Wishmaster, Bruce Almighty and pretty much every Superman and Batman movie.
On the 148th episode of Piecing It Together, Chad Clinton Freeman and I are welcomed to the Blumhouse, with our look at one of their four new movies available this month on Amazon Prime, Nocturne. The story of twin sisters competing at a prestigious music school where things turn sinister and supernatural. Puzzle pieces include Black Swan, Shine, Whiplash and Scream.
On the 145th episode of Piecing It Together, Chad Clinton Freeman returns to the podcast to talk about the adventures of the world famous detective Sherlock Holmes' kid sister, Enola Holmes. The new release hit Netflix this week and is filled with plenty of fun and a great performance by star/producer Millie Bobby Brown. Puzzle pieces include Fleabag, Wonder Woman, Kill Bill and Mulan.
On the 124th episode of Piecing It Together, Chad Clinton Freeman joins me to talk about one of my favorite movies of this very weird year... the very weird Frances Ferguson. The story of a woman who throws it all away by way of an affair with her student, it's uncomfortable, weird and a lot of people were very offended by it... but I loved it. Puzzle pieces include To Die For, Daria, Fight Club and Orange Is The New Black. The post Frances Ferguson (Featuring Chad Clinton Freeman) appeared first on Piecing It Together Podcast.
On the 2nd episode of Missing Pieces, Chad Clinton Freeman joins me to talk about 2014's Jamie Marks Is Dead. A classic story of boy meets girl, boy meets ghost, ghost falls in love with boy and girl. It's a very unique coming-of-age film, and one I hadn't even heard of until Chad brought it to my attention. Puzzle pieces include American Beauty, Twilight, Time Bandits and Carrie. The post Jamie Marks Is Dead (Featuring Chad Clinton Freeman) appeared first on Piecing It Together Podcast.
On this Special Episode of Piecing It Together, I’m joined by returning co-hosts Ryan Daugherty and Chad Clinton Freeman to discuss all the movies we’re most looking forward to in 2020. Our most anticipated movies of 2020 include everything from indies and horror to super-hero movies and sequels. The post Most Anticipated Movies Of 2020 appeared first on Piecing It Together Podcast.
On the 116th episode of Piecing It Together, Chad Clinton Freeman joins us (two in a row!) to talk about the latest in his beloved DC Extended Universe of films, the Harley Quinn solo movie Birds Of Prey. Following up on the disaster that was Suicide Squad, Birds Of Prey sees a newly single Harley Quinn getting into all kinds of crazy adventures in an uneven but fun comic book movie. Puzzle pieces include Tank Girl, Deadpool 2, Joker and Kill Bill. The post Birds Of Prey (Featuring Chad Clinton Freeman) appeared first on Piecing It Together Podcast.
On this special episode of Piecing It Together, we are revisiting Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (which we covered back on episode 78), Quentin Tarantino's ode to the golden era of Hollywood. Ever since its release the takes were coming fast and hard from every end of the spectrum. On opposite ends... Both of our guests Joe Black (who loved it) and Chad Clinton Freeman (who hated it). The post Revisiting Once Upon A Time In Hollywood appeared first on Piecing It Together Podcast.
On the 115th episode of Piecing It Together, Chad Clinton Freeman joins us to talk about one of his favorite filmmakers, Guy Ritchie and his new film The Gentlemen. A return to his crime film roots, The Gentlemen is a sometimes problematic but always fun classic crime romp. Puzzle pieces include Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Sexy Beast, Seven Psychopaths and The Player. The post The Gentlemen (Featuring Chad Clinton Freeman) appeared first on Piecing It Together Podcast.
On the 106th episode of Piecing It Together, Chad Clinton Freeman joins me to talk about one of his favorite subjects... Shia LaBeouf and his new film Honey Boy. Directed by Alma Har'el from a story written by LaBeouf about his own life, and starring him as his own father... It's a weird one. And a great one. Puzzle pieces include Private Parts, Adaptation, American Honey and Birdman. The post Honey Boy (Featuring Chad Clinton Freeman) appeared first on Piecing It Together Podcast.
On the 93rd episode of Piecing It Together, I'm joined again by Chad Clinton Freeman and Ryan Daugherty to complete our trilogy of nerdy episodes by talking about Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix's Joker. Following up our conversations on Glass and Godzilla King Of The Monsters, we take on quite possibly the most divisive movie of the year. Puzzle pieces include Taxi Driver, The King Of Comedy, Fight Club and Falling Down. The post Joker (Featuring Chad Clinton Freeman & Ryan Daugherty) appeared first on Piecing It Together Podcast.
On the 85th episode of Piecing It Together, Chad Clinton Freeman returns to the show to talk about the sweetest movie you'll see this year, The Peanut Butter Falcon. A man with downs syndrome escapes from a hospital and goes on the run with a southern Shia LeBeouf as they travel the country to enroll in wrestling school. Puzzle pieces include Hunt For The Wilderpeople, Swiss Army Man, Wizard of Oz and Into The Wild. The post The Peanut Butter Falcon (Featuring Chad Clinton Freeman) appeared first on Piecing It Together Podcast.
On the 65th episode of Piecing It Together, Chad Clinton Freeman and Ryan Daugherty join me for a nerdy extravaganza in our conversation about Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The third chapter in Legendary Pictures' MonsterVerse features tons of monster-on-monster action, and a lot of rain. Puzzle pieces include Batman V Superman, The Happening, Kaiju Big Battel and the Independence Day series. The post Godzilla: King of the Monsters (Featuring Chad Clinton Freeman & Ryan Daugherty) appeared first on Piecing It Together Podcast.
On the 59th episode of Piecing It Together, it's time for a SUPER-EPISODE! As we did with its predecessor, Avengers Infinity War, Avengers Endgame is a movie too big for just one co-host. So instead I got help covering the Marvel movie to end all Marvel movies (at least until July's new Spider-Man) from David Quinones, Chad Clinton Freeman, Jacob Tiranno, Bee Garner, Rico Albarracin and The Lady-Wan. Puzzle pieces include Oceans 12, The Wrestler, The Last Jedi and Back To The Future.
On the 58th episode of Piecing It Together, Chad Clinton Freeman is back again to talk about S Craig Zahler's controversial Dragged Across Concrete. Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn star as a couple of racist cops who lose their job after being filmed using excessive force during an arrest. To provide for their families they hatch a plan to rob drug dealers and things go wrong, fast. Puzzle pieces include Trespass, The Dark Knight, The Nice Guys and Training Day.
On the 56th episode of Piecing It Together, our resident DC fan Chad Clinton Freeman is back again to follow-up our Superman: The Movie discussion with an episode on DC's newest superhero adventure, Shazam! Based on the classic story of a kid who is granted the power to turn into a superhero, it's a complete turn to full on fun for the the DCEU. Puzzle pieces include Kick-Ass, Big, Ghostbusters and The Naked Gun.
On the 6th episode of the special episode series called Breaking It Apart, our resident DC and Superman expert Chad Clinton Freeman joins me to discuss Superman: The Movie. Long before Chad became obsessed with Batman V Superman, the original Superman movie was part of a wave of films that basically invented what modern blockbusters would become. Puzzle pieces include Captain Marvel, Prometheus, Ghostbusters and Disaster Movies.
On this Special Episode of Piecing It Together, I'm joined by returning co-hosts Ryan Daugherty and Chad Clinton Freeman to discuss all the movies we're most looking forward to in 2019. Surprisingly out of 30 picks (ten each) we only had three overlaps, so clearly, there are a lot of movies we're looking forward to this year including super-hero films, WTF films, A24 films and plenty more.
On the 45th episode of Piecing It Together, I'm joined by Chad Clinton Freeman for a special kind of episode we've never really done before... It's both a Piecing It Together of 2018's Halloween, and a Breaking It Apart of 1978's original Halloween. While coming up with our puzzle pieces for the new one, we realized that all the movies that inspired it, were themselves inspired by the original, so we thought this would make for a fun episode. Puzzle pieces include Scream, Happy Death Day and Mean Girls.
On the 44th episode of Piecing It Together, I'm joined for the first time by two returning co-hosts, Ryan Daugherty and Chad Clinton Freeman for a discussion of the long awaited M. Night Shyamalan movie Glass. If you're a nerd like us you've been waiting 20 years for a follow-up to Unbreakable, and after 2016's Split, all knew it was finally coming, and now it's here... For better or worse. Puzzle pieces include Batman V Superman, Super, Eastern Promises and Take Shelter.
On the 42nd episode of Piecing It Together, and first of 2019, Chad Clinton Freeman joins me to check out the indie horror film Dry Blood. I had met writer/star Clint Carney last year at a film festival and thought it would be fun to check out one of his projects on the show, and Dry Blood, a cerebral horror film was the perfect opportunity, and we'll be doing a follow-up interview with Clint Carney next week. Puzzle pieces include Evil Dead, The Shining, Requiem For A Dream and Super Troopers.
On the 41st episode of Piecing It Together co-host Chad Clinton Freeman and I discuss the newest entry in the DC Extended Universe, Aquaman. While DC has had a bit of trouble finding its footing in trying to battle Marvel for comic-book movie geek dominance, its films are not without their fans (Chad for example). Well they've got a new one thanks to Aquaman. And his name is Me! Puzzle pieces include Black Panther, Batman & Robin, Romancing The Stone and Avatar.
On the 37th episode of Piecing It Together co-host Chad Clinton Freeman and I discuss the newest entry in the never-ending Harry Potter universe, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. I come at this episode as a complete beginner to the Harry Potter Wizarding World, but while Chad has only recently dived into this universe, he actually helped put on a giant festival around the fandom called Ironton Wizardfest, so he was uniquely positioned to talk about this one. Puzzle pieces include Star Wars, Transformers, Pokemon and Batman.
On this Special Episode of Piecing It Together, we follow-up Episode 18's In Memory Of with an interview with the film's writer/director Eric Stanze. In Memory Of is a wild independent film and was brought to me by Chad Clinton Freeman, who knows his stuff when it comes to these kinds of crazy, unique movies, so I was really glad that we got to cover it on the show. It's been a long while since Episode 18 but I've always wanted to go back and talk to Eric Stanze about the puzzle pieces Chad and I discussed and I'm glad to finally get a chance to do it.
On the 3rd episode of the special episode series called Breaking It Apart, co-host Chad Clinton Freeman and I discuss the 1931 classic Frankenstein! This film and its creature have not only influenced hundreds of films, but pop culture in general. The hardest part of this episode was narrowing down all the movies we had to choose from! Puzzle pieces include Chappie, Edward Scissorhands, Alien, and Ex-Machina.
On the 27th episode of Piecing It Together, returning co-host Chad Clinton Freeman and I discuss The Nun, the newest entry in the ever expanding Conjuring Universe. The horrifying character who made her debut in The Conjuring 2 and Annabelle 2 finally gets her own movie, diving deep back into how this evil Nun character got her start and set off the events that would build the Conjuring universe and a world of unspeakable evil... It's also absolutely ridiculous, hokey and hilarious and a great fun time at the movies! Puzzle pieces include Indiana Jones, Evil Dead, the Universal Classic Monsters and Scooby Doo.
On the 24th episode of Piecing It Together, returning co-host Chad Clinton Freeman discuss Alpha, the survival epic about the first ever "boy and his dog" from writer/director Albert Hughes. It's a gorgeous looking movie set in 20,000BC with long, beautiful shots of the uncompromising wilderness, acted in an ancient language (with subtitles) and tells the story of the first man who ever bonded with a dog. It might not REALLY be the story of the first man and dog to bond, but it's a great one. Puzzle pieces include Apocalypto, 300, 10,000 B.C., and Annie.
On the 18th episode of Piecing It Together, co-host Chad Clinton Freeman and I discuss In Memory Of, a crazy new independent film from the mind of Eric Stanze. Chad brought this movie to the show because as a connoisseur of all things insane independent cinema (he did create the Pollygrind Film Festival after all), Chad was a fan of Eric Stanze's previous films and wanted to check this one out. I'm glad he did because it's a wild movie and was a really fun one to talk about. Puzzle pieces include The Evil Dead, Easy Rider, Natural Born Killers and Requiem For A Dream.
On the 17th episode of Piecing It Together, co-host Chad Clinton Freeman and I discuss Sicario: Day of The Soldado. As tensions mount at the Mexico / Texas border, the US Government decides to treat the Mexican cartels as terrorists allowing them to get extra dirty. Along the way we sort of lose the point of the first Sicario... As well as that absolute modern classic's main star, director, cinematographer and composer... But we still have Josh Brolin and Benecio Del Toro playing bad-asses and a script from Taylor Sheridan! Puzzle pieces include No Country For Old Men, Children of Men, Desierto and Desperado.
On the 11th episode of Piecing It Together, we do something a little different... The biggest movie of all time, Avengers: Infinity War deserves a super sized episode, and that's why we've assembled not the usual one co-host, but FIVE co-hosts to help piece together this fantastic Marvel superhero movie. If you don't know what Avengers: Infinity War is, it's only the culmination of 10 years of Marvel movies (all those Iron Man and Thor and Captain America movies were leading towards this). We catch up with the Avengers as super-villain Thanos is about to find the final Infinity Stones that will give him the power to wipe out half of the universe's population. Only the Avengers can stop him... Or can they? Puzzle pieces include the films of Gary Marshall, Empire Strikes Back, Anime, Zack Snyder (you're welcome Chad) and the Thanos Quest comics. As always, SPOILER ALERT for Avengers: Infinity War. http://www.marvel.com/avengers Joining me for this super sized episode are previous guests Ryan Daugherty, Chad Clinton Freeman, David Quinones and Will Hines, as well as first-time guest Daniel Clark of the Comic Concierge Podcast, a show I was recently a guest on. Make sure to check out the Comic Concierge at http://www.geekcastradio.com/category/comic-concierge/ As of today my new album, A Different Kind Of Dream is available for pre-order on iTunes! It will be available on all major digital music services on Friday, May 18th. Make sure to check it out! The song at the end of the episode is a piece made for a comic book trailer called "Ch05en" a few years back. I thought it would be appropriate to include in this episode. On the 10th (wow, ten episodes!) episode of Piecing It Together, co-host Chad Clinton Freeman and I discuss A Quiet Place. This creature feature from John Krasinski in which a family must hide from blind but ultra-hearing predators was one of the big surprise hits of 2018. It stars Krasinski and Emily Blunt as well as some really cool monsters. Puzzle pieces include 10 Cloverfield Lane, Signs and The Road. As always, SPOILER ALERT for A Quiet Place. https://www.paramount.com/movies/quiet-place Chad Clinton Freeman is the founder of the Pollygrind Film Festival and is currently helping plan the Ironton Wizardfest. He's also the only person I know who sees more movies than me. Just know that everything is in fact Cloverfield. The song at the end of the episode is called "Enemy" off my upcoming album A Different Kind Of Dream. Also, today, May 4th is the official pre-order of my new album A Different Kind Of Dream. This album will be available on May 18th on iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, Bandcamp and pretty much anywhere music is available. Check it out and thanks so much for your support. On the 8th episode of Piecing It Together, co-host Chad Clinton Freeman and I discuss Bus Party To Hell (formerly known as Party Bus To Hell). This wild, blood soaked throwback from the Mahal Brothers and director Rolfe Kanefsky starts with a Party Bus headed to Burning Man, but everything goes off the rails when demon worshipping cannibals turn the party into a blood bath. Also, I did the theme song and a couple other songs for the soundtrack. Puzzle pieces include The Hills Have Eyes, From Dusk Till Dawn, Evil Dead 2, and Requiem for a Dream. As always, SPOILER ALERT for Bus Party To Hell. https://www.facebook.com/buspartytohell/ You can also download a FREE copy of the theme song "Party Bus To Hell" from Soundcloud at http://www.soundcloud.com/bydavidrosen/party-bus-to-hell-theme Chad Clinton Freeman is the founder of the Pollygrind Film Festival and is currently helping plan the Ironton Wizardfest. On the 5th episode of Piecing It Together, co-host Chad Clinton Freeman and I discuss an insane new movie called The Hurricane Heist from Rob Cohen, the creator of the Fast & Furious series. In The Hurricane Heist, a team of bank robbers attempt to rob a treasury facility during... you guessed it... a hurricane. It's wild, ridiculous and a ton of fun. Puzzle Piecies include Twister (duh), Die Hard, The Rock and Hard Rain. As always, SPOILER ALERT for The Hurricane Heist. http://www.hurricaneheistmovie.com Chad Clinton Freeman is the founder of the Pollygrind Film Festival and is currently helping plan the Ironton Wizardfest.
