Mad man Australian auteur Russell Mulcahy lends his unhinged style to RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION. Warning: Don't get too excited about it being set in Las Vegas!

There Can Be Only One. Only one Immortal that this - the Immortals are special swordsmen who can live forever, except when they are facing off against other swordsmen who can kill them but ONLY by decapitating them. The Immortal this particular story focuses on is Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert) who is from the Highlands of Scotland in the 1500's when he discovers that he has this unique designation. We follow his adventures through several centuries all the way up the "present day" in 1985 New York City where he is now being hunted by a bloodthirsty immortal barbarian named the Kurgan (Clancy Brown). Along the way, he has also been mentored by another Immortal named Ramirez (Sean Connery) in the ways of swordsmanship, along with other special gifts. Featuring songs by Queen and directed by Russel Mulcahy (The Shadow, Resident Evil: Extinction), this action fantasy was a commercial disappointment upon first release forty years ago but has since become a beloved cult classic. We come out guns blazing for our look at the Resident Evil film franchise by tackling the first two movies — Resident Evil and Resident Evil Apocalypse! The Thunderous Wizard, Chumpzilla, and Bling Blake are genetically modified ass-kicking machines, and we're on a mission! This Week's Segments: Introduction/Plot Breakdown – A secret experiment. A deadly virus. A fatal mistake! Lingering Questions – Which one of these did better justice to the games? (39:43) The "T-Virus" Trivia Challenge – The Thunderous Wizard challenges the field to trivia about the movie. Politics is downstream from culture. To change politics, one must first change culture. The left intrinsically understands this in a way that the right simply does not. The arts have been captured by a toxic mixture of identity politics, social justice ideology, and cancel culture.Matthew Marsden has seen this ideological takeover firsthand. He rose to fame from his role on the iconic British TV series Coronation Street, and has subsequently starred in a long list of Hollywood films, including Black Hawk Down, Resident Evil: Extinction, Rambo and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.Follow Australiana on social media here.Subscribe to The Spectator Australia here.Subscribe to Matthew's YouTube channel here.

On today's episode, we're going to go ruin a man's life, and stop by a big birthday party with scantily clad ladies coming out of a cake, while we revisit the 00's teen movie classic, John Tucker Must Die (2006). This movie was directed by Betty Thomas and written by Jeff Lowell. This movie stars Brittany Snow (Would You Rather, Pitch Perfect), Jesse Metcalfe (Desperate Housewives, Chesapeake Shores), Ashanti (Coach Carter, Resident Evil: Extinction), Sophia Bush (Stay Alive, One Tree Hill), Arielle Kebbel (Aquamarine, The Vampire Diaries), Penn Badgley (Easy A, Gossip Girl ) and Jenny McCarthy (Scream 3, The Masked Singer)This movie is so squarely in 2006 that it gives me shivers thinking about it. It has a phenomenal cast of characters, but the story and overall messaging is kind of all over the place. If you are a Brittany Snow stan or teen movie fan, strap yourselves in for a bumpy ride.Intro/Outro Music: "Phantom Fun" by Jonathan BoyleShow E-Mail: cultcinemacircle@gmail.comFollow Cult Cinema Circle on Instagram, Twitter, and Letterboxd Hosted on Acast. A digital Red Queen, glimpse of white rabbits, what could be seen as zombified "cards," and an amnesia-afflicted girl named Alice... Who knew Resident Evil (2002) could be seen as the action-horror remix of a beloved fairytale? We discuss this and more in our 70th(!) episode, like what sets Resident Evil apart from other video-game adaptations, the icon that is Michelle Rodriguez, understanding the complexities of the story as an adult and what one Karl Marx might think of Alice's adventure down in the Hive if he gave the movie a watch. In this episode we discuss what we think makes an effective teaser trailer, and how they differ from full trailers which reveal more of the story. We also talk about a LOT of our favorite teasers and how they successfully tease the audience using entirely different philosophies and editing techniques. We also touch on the teasers for Tenet and Birds of Prey which the studios released exclusively in theaters, and the new Jurassic World short film which acts as a teaser trailer itself. Trailers Discussed: Tenet, Birds of Prey, Battle at Big Rock (Jurassic World Short), Alien, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Godzilla (1998) Museum, Godzilla (1998) - Fishing, Terminator 2, Spider-Man, Lord of the Rings BTS teaser, Lord of the Rings Teaser, Cloverfield, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Resident Evil: Extinction, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Monsters Inc., Monsters Inc Charades, The Incredibles, Battleship, Inception, Layer Cake, Back to the Future, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Battle: Los Angeles, Toys, Transformers, The Addams Family, Where the Wild Things Are, The Exorcist, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Rebel Assault II, Dead Island.
