They explore how he incorporated this practice into his daily routine and went on to initiate a global movement, empowering individuals worldwide to embrace heartfulness. Today's Guest Born in Gujarat in 1956, Kamlesh D. Patel (Daaji) displayed an early interest in meditation and spirituality. He started Heartfulness Meditation at the age of nineteen while studying to be a pharmacist. Soon after, he met his first Guru, Babuji, the second guide in the Heartfulness lineage. After graduating with honors from L.M. College of Pharmacy in Ahmedabad, Daaji married and moved to New York City. There, he and his wife raised their two sons, while he steadily built a successful pharmacy business. At the same time, Daaji continued to pursue his love of meditation as a devoted disciple of Babuji's successor, Chariji. Over the years, Daaji played an increasingly active role in the Heartfulness Movement, both organisationally and by spreading its message and teaching its method. In 2011, Chariji selected Daaji as his spiritual successor. Daaji firmly believes in nourishing today's youth with practical self-management tools and universal values. Under his guidance, students and faculty in over 2,500 schools, universities, and colleges are now benefitting from a portfolio of value-based self-development programs. As a self-professed student of spirituality, Daaji devotes much of his time and energy to his personal research in the field of spirituality and consciousness, and regularly shares his findings through public speaking engagements, his website, and social media platforms, and in broadcast, print, and digital media. Daaji's articles have appeared in various leading publications including Huffington Post, Chicago Tribune, Times of India, and Business Standard. His well-received Radio City Swaran series, Dil Ki Awaaz, ran for twelve episodes. Daaji advocates bridging ancient tradition with modern scientific understanding and has assembled a team of one hundred scientists to research the physiological and genetic effects of meditation and yogic transmission. As he often says, “You are the experimenter, the experiment, and also its result.” Learn more about Daaji's practice here About Dr. Raj Dr Raj is a quadruple board certified physician and associate professor at the University of Southern California. A special message from Daaji, on the occasion of the 149th birth anniversary of Pujya Shri Lalaji Maharaj.
Divine Grace Is The Highest Gift Of Them All By: Kamlesh Patel Dec 23, 2021, 15:08 IST It's the season of gifts and giving all over the world, from Deepavali, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, New Year, to Pongal and Sankranti, and it continues until spring. Actually, the timing of the gift really depends on the call of the giving heart or the hour of need of the receiver. The best gift is one which has the intention of purity behind it. That would show the state of joy or peace of the receiver, which matters most. A cup of cool water to a thirsty man in a desert is more precious than gifts of jewels or millions of dollars to a wealthy man. Now, how do we evaluate a gift? The capacity of the giver is more relevant than the material value of the gift. Saints like Shri Ram Chandra of Shahjahanpur, Babuji, admired a few rupees donated by a needy woman more than millions from billionaires. What gives life to the gift? It can only be love! The intention and attitude associated with the thought and the gesture are equally valuable., there is the story of Shabari, the tribal woman who gave half-eaten fruits to Ram and Lakshman, the sons of King Dashrath. This old woman would bite into each fruit to ensure that it was sweet and safe before offering it to them. Her loving hospitality worked as a balm to relieve some of their pain of separation from Sita. In the Mahabharat, when Krishn chose to stay with Vidur, instead of Duryodhan, Krishn happily ate the banana peels offered by Vidur's wife. She did this because she was so lost in love and adoration for Krishn. When Vidur pointed out her absent-mindedness, Krishn said, “The superb taste of these banana peels is not present in the banana.” O'Henry's ‘The Gift of the Magi' is also very inspiring. The wife, Della, sells her beautiful hair to buy a gold strap for her husband Jim's wristwatch. Jim sells his watch to buy a beautiful comb for Della's luxuriant hair. Neither of them could use the gift received from the other, but it filled their hearts to the brim with gratitude. Isn't forgiving the best gift? Miraculously, it turns out to be a double gift, it works for the giver and receiver. It has the potential to usher in a new heaven on earth by saving the world from hatred. Babuji Maharaj, the founder of the Heartfulness movement, adds that besides forgiving, if we also express our gratitude for the lessons learnt, perhaps that is the greatest in gift giving. However, only the one who has received divine grace can do it easily. The Divine's grace is the highest gift. It can happen in the presence of a divinised personality and not because one is deserving, meritorious or has earned it. While planting a sapling today is a splendid gift to future generations and there are other noble ways to give, like contributing to your favourite charities or performing acts of service, we need to continue aspiring for the highest, too! That's my wish for you. May that grace from the Divine descend on you in your act of giving and gifting. The writer, also known as Daaji, is the Heartfulness Guide.
In this video about karma, DAAJI gives us all the answers to questions like Destiny and Free Will, Is Everything in My Life Already Predetermined?, How much are our lives governed by karma?, How to Become the Master of Your Own Destiny?, Can You Control Your Destiny?Speaker: Daaji► This audio session combines eye-opening speeches with binaural beats technology. Designed to inspire, motivate, and help people to reprogram their minds.
We sometimes tend to commit mistakes knowingly or unknowingly thus hurting others in the due course. Our paramount duty is to realize our mistakes and make a commitment that we will not repeat the same. This can be achieved by connecting ourselves with our divine self. Daaji explains about this in this episode. At bedtime, feeling the presence of God, repent for any wrongs committed. Beg forgiveness in a supplicant mood and prayerfully resolve not to allow repetition of the same
In this episode Daaji says, we have to live a simple life which concurs with our divine nature. Mould your behavior and way of living to such a high order as to rouse a feeling of love and piety in others.
In this episode Daaji elucidates that the food that we eat, which gives us energy has to be had in a way that it recharges our entire system. This can only be achieved by eating our food in divine remembrance. Be happy to eat in constant Divine thought whatever you get, with due regard to honest and pious earnings.
In this episode Daaji clearly states that revenge against a person who has wronged us will take us nowhere, instead it will put us in jeopardy. If you are feeling wronged by anyone, do not wish for revenge. Instead, think this comes from God and be grateful.
In this episode Daaji reiterates that we are all one and the same with an example of a tree. Know all people as thy brethren and treat them as such.
In this episode, Daaji emphasizes on being truthful. Always be truthful, accept miseries as coming from God for your own good, and be thankful. By doing so we can experience the true inner reality.
In this episode, Daaji explains how our lives are interwoven with nature. Instead of trying to conquer nature we should respect it and try to be in tune with it. Simplify your life so as to be identical with Nature.
In this episode, Daaji explains the purpose of life. Fix your Goal, which should be complete oneness with God. Rest not till the ideal is achieved
In this episode, Daaji talks about offering Prayer. Begin your meditation with a prayer for spiritual elevation. Offer your prayer in such a way that the heart is filled with love.
In this episode, Daaji has explained the Best time to Meditate and Ideal Meditation Place. Rise before dawn and offer your prayer and meditation at a fixed hour, preferably completing them before sunrise. Have a separate place and seat for meditation. As far as possible, develop the habit of sitting in one and the same pose. Give special attention to the purity of body and mind.
Daaji explains about Freeing Yourself From Negative Thoughts and Feelings using Heartfulness Cleaning process. He explains to us how we form impressions and attachments with things, with thoughts and ideas. It becomes a habit. How to cut that? There is a yogic process, also offered under this Heartfulness way of life. We have this yogic technique where we use the Sankalpa Shakti [will power].
In this episode Daaji explains some basics of spiritual anatomy.
Daaji explains about consciousness, and give us some wisdom to shattering all our attachments, helping us remove and go beyond desires, helping us sublimate our egos. Consciousness, though we say it is the only thing that can evolve in this human form, there is much more that awaits us – much more magnificent.
We should not expect to have more than what we actually require in our life. In this episode, Daaji has discussed how to manage our desires effectively and put resources to proper use.
We may meditate for some time in a day, but how can you extend the effect and experience of our meditation throughout the day? Daaji answers this question and clarifies his listeners that this can be achieved through some subtle suggestions. Lets listen...
Daaji in this episode urges his listeners to try out Heartfulness meditation and experience the Yogic transmission (Pranahuthi), which is unique to this system. He says Yogic transmission is a miracle which will make you experience God.
In this episode, Daaji talks about how to strike a balance between our spiritual life and material life and maintain our spiritual condition. Whatever be the duties of our life, we should always keep the spiritual awareness while performing our duties.
Food nourishes our body and helps us with our day to day activities by providing us with the much required energy. Daaji in this episode explains us the right attitude with which the food has to be partaken so that our body benefits from this.
Quoting an example of a fruit laden tree Daaji explains to us about humility and how it is a noble quality. He further describes that great people have always been humble. To have a peaceful world and a peaceful atmosphere everywhere, one has to become humble.
God can only be attained with a regulated mind. Mantra chanting is only for fickle mind. It is like a cane which supports indisposed people who cannot walk. Mantra helps impulsive mind to focus. Those who really want to experience God can only do so with meditation. Let's hear more about this from Daaji.
Daaji is revealing his thoughts about how students should study and become successful. Citing the example of an exciting anecdote between him and Babuji, Daaji wants to say to the students that a person can become influential only with a focused mind.
How to tame your mind is a million dollar question to all. According to Daaji, a concentrated and centered mind can only take us to greater heights and to achieve this meditation is the key.
Nowadays, everyone's life is hectic, a lot of effort is required to make ends meet. With all this, we are unable to pay any heed to our consciousness. Daaji lovingly describes in this episode how consciousness can be evolved with meditation and urges his listeners to have an experience it.
In this episode, Daaji explains the true nature of truth and lie and how it can impact our lives by giving an example.
In this episode, Daaji has discussed about how samskars are formed in our lives, how they affect our lives and how we can purify them.
Without the help of Guru, our meditation cannot become successful. Daaji reiterates this and elucidates what are the qualities of a Guru and how we can sour in higher realms with the help of a worthy Guru.
Daaji states about the importance of prayer and how it can help us in this episode. He further explains how our attitude should be while offering such a prayer.
How to differentiate between the call of the heart and the sound of the mind? Daaji says heart's call is always natural and spontaneous; it doesn't require much effort for us to follow it. The one which makes our heart heavier is not good for us.
Most of us nowadays live in a state of chronic stress. When we observe carefully, we often see some part of our body or mind is always disturbed. We need to calm ourselves down and relax. Heartfulness relaxation process is a simple way to do that. It is more effective when done before meditation. Daaji guides us on how to perform this relaxation technique. Heartfulness relaxation helps us calm both our body and mind. And this can be performed anytime.
There are three types of knowledge, one is the vachith(acquired) knowledge, the second is the yatharth(true) knowledge and the third is thathroop (realistic) knowledge, the one which can only be experienced. You cannot attain God from the acquired bookish knowledge or from true knowledge. It is necessary to experience God. Let's hear it in Daaji's words.
Saints and monks always talk about the soul, but no one is able to give us the experience of the soul. Some say that the soul is the life force and some say that it is the means of our life, but how to experience the soul? This can only be done with meditation. Let's hear more about this in the Daaji's words.
Daaji explains what exactly is self-development and, why developing oneself is important.
In this episode, Daaji speaks out to the young on how to deal with information overload. He introduces a heartful approach to choosing what is right when there is a huge range of choices within easy reach.
Daaji explains how Heartfulness meditation can change us mentally and spiritually in this episode. He explains the marriage of science with spirituality to expand our consciousness.
In this episode, Daaji explains how religion is taking us into the external world and making us forget the true Essence, which is within. When we realize that, we stop searching for divinity outside and try to feel it inside. That is when spirituality begins – when you want to experience the presence inside. But then the journey has to continue onwards. Often, people practicing yoga – the great yogis, the great meditators – are stuck in their own experiences. Though feeling and experiencing is a great thing as you are transcended from thinking, you are transcended from forms, dogmas, and beliefs into something higher. Yet, we get trapped in your own experiences.
In this episode, Daaji analyses the patterns of what's needed to sleep better. He talks about the benefits of Heartfulness Meditation and Yoga Nidra.
In this episode, Daaji takes us through the journey when he met his guru Babuji, and how it changed his life. Daaji explains his personal experiences with meditation, what yoga is, and how relevant it is in today's world. He gives us some insights about life and the natural human power to creates our destiny.

My guest this week is Joshua Pollock, co-author of The Heartfulness Way: Heart-Based Meditations For Spiritual Transformation. He recently spend a day in Boise speaking at a corporate event, doing interviews, and giving a public lecture. All in an effort to share The Heartfulness Way. The following will give you a little background on Joshua before you listen to the interview. Joshua was raised in Maine. As a child, he recalls spending a lot of time reading books from his parent's enormous book collection. Later in life he said he did some degree of spiritual seeking, but wasn't specifically looking for a meditation practice when he had a chance encounter with someone on the street that would ultimately lead him to The Heartfulness Way and eventually to meeting his current teacher and co-author Kamlesh D. Patel, also known as Daaji. Kamlesh later asked Joshua to write a book on meditation, and then agreed to co-author the book with him. In addition to being a Heartfulness Way trainer and practitioner, Joshua is also an accomplished classical violinist. He holds a bachelor of musical arts from Indiana University and two masters degrees from Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, UK. He currently resides in India with his wife and their two children. Joshua and I after the interview. I'm happy because I've just heard about The Heartfulness Way ;) Below are excerpts from a lecture Joshua gave while in Boise: “This is a very simple practice. It’s so simple that when I first started I thought, well, how can this even do anything?” ~ Joshua speaking about his first impression of The Heartfulness Way “Heartfulness has roots in Raja Yoga [and is about creating a union between] the lowest aspect of yourself [and the] highest aspect of yourself.” “Heartfulness is about centering yourself in your heart.” “Meditation isn’t a skill. Really it’s just a process and the benefits you get are the result of performing this process.” In this episode, you’ll discover: What the Heartfulness Way isHow this practice can help you enhance your day to day experience in business and in life. How Joshua discovered The Heartfulness WayWhere you can learn more about this meditation Resources Mentioned: The Peace Room - If you're in the Boise area and looking for a knowledgeable, intuitive, and caring Reiki Master and Certified Crystal Healer, get in touch with Jenny StinsonHeartfulness.org - This is the website Joshua mentioned in the interviewHeartsApp by Heartfulness - Available for both Android and iOSThe Heartfulness Way: Heart-Based Meditations For Spiritual Transformation, by Kamlesh D. Kamlesh Patel (Daaji) visits the Indie Spiritualist Podcast to talk about naturally going within and shifting our consciousness with heart-based meditative practice. After graduating with honors in 1980, Kamlesh Patel moved to the US and practiced pharmacy in New York City, while also continuing the Raja Yoga system of Sahaj Marg, with great devotion. Kamlesh continued to follow Parthasarathi Rajagopalachari (Chariji), the second President of Shri Ram Chandra Mission, after Babuji’s passing, and has held a number of increasingly responsible roles as well as offering his support to the growth of the Mission worldwide. In October 2011 he was proclaimed as Chariji’s successor, and in August 2012 was appointed Vice-President of SRCM with the full powers of the President, due to Chariji’s failing physical health. Following Chariji’s passing on the 20th of December 2014, he became the Spiritual Guide of the Sahaj Marg System, and the third President of Shri Ram Chandra Mission. He is often endearingly referred to as Daaji.
