I'm your host, Hunter, and today marks day 74 of our immersive journey through the Bible. Together, we're opening our hearts and minds to the profound words of Deuteronomy chapters 28 and 29, as well as Galatians chapter 6. We'll explore deep themes like blessings and curses, obedience, and the powerful principle of love and faith that transforms us into a new creation. Come and join us as we reflect on God's love and navigate the rich terrain of Scripture, letting it elevate and nourish our souls. We'll also spend moments in prayer, inviting God's peace, joy, and transformative presence into our lives. Let's gather by the fires of God's love and see how His word speaks to us today. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Quid pro quo. This for that. If you do this, you will receive that. That's the old principle of the law. If you keep this covenant and obey all its terms and obligations, then you will receive the blessing of the covenant. But if you fail to keep all the terms and obligations, then you will receive the curses described in the covenant. Quid pro quo. This for that. I hope we can all see how impossible this is for people like you and me. How absolutely terrifying it is. People like us simply can't live up to the standard of holiness that's described here. The level of faithfulness needed to achieve that blessing is beyond our grasp. Thankfully, we see in Galatians a new principle at work, a new promise, a new contract. It's not quid pro quo. It's something altogether different. Instead, this new principle is based upon what God has done for us on the cross. It's based upon a clearer and complete revelation that is Christ himself. God in his great love and mercy recognizes that we are unable to meet the demands of this for that. Jesus has fulfilled the terms of that first agreement so that we might know its blessing. He did that on the cross. A new principle is at work in our lives because of him and what he's done. Paul describes it as a new creation. When we read these passages in Deuteronomy, we have to ask, is this what God is really intending for humanity? Is this truly reflective of God's heart? If you don't do what I say, you will be wiped out in the most heinous ways thinkable? You know, the Bible reflects the periods and the times with which it was written, and it also reflects how people understood God in the context of their times and the surrounding culture. And God lets his children tell the story of God, but he doesn't leave us there. No. He will give the final word on who he really is and how he is to be understood and what kind of relationship he is establishing with humanity. And he doesn't simply leave it to prophets and describes to write about. No. He comes in person. He shows up in the flesh. God's final word is Jesus. He is the logos of God. And the new principle is the way of the cross. Self-giving, sacrificial love on behalf of those who have nothing to give. It's not quid pro quo. This for that. Now God is not capricious. He's not overly sensitive and insecure. No. God is like Jesus. He is God. The new principle is the way of the cross. The cross, which is the ultimate demonstration of the self-giving, radically forgiving, co-suffering, love for God, for others, for the world. So let me encourage you all to take a deep breath after reading through Deuteronomy today and realize that God has shown us who he really is. It seemed completely and fully wonderfully in the face of Jesus. Jesus has achieved for us all the blessings of god. He accomplished this by defeating death and the grave on the cross by giving himself on behalf of all. And now the new principle is that of a new creation achieved by the cross, the cruciform love of God. Let us live in that reality with gratitude and love. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL

Abhishekam means “sprinkling” or “wetting,” and refers to the ritual of pouring water or other sacred substances on a Linga while chanting Vedic mantras or shlokas. Whatever is offered in abhisheka gets charged with powerful vibrations of the chanting and the touch of the Divine symbol. Of the items that are offered, the sacred water and other substances which are edible, like sugarcane juice, coconut water, Panchamrta-Milk, honey, curd, ghee& sugar are then distributed as Tirtha or Prasad. Haldi, Kumkum, chandan, bhasma etc. are poured for gardening. Nothing is wasted. Why is Abhisheka done?1. To express our love and gratitude to the Lord2. To pray to the Lord to purify our mind and bless us with more devotion, knowledge and selfless service.3. It represents continuous flow of thoughts to the Positive& Divine. 4. Helps one to invoke Divine Grace for fulfilment of material and spiritual desires. 5. The best of substances - chandan, kumkum, haldi - are poured in devotion on Him. The best in us must be poured in HIS seva. 6. The greatest and the highest Abhisheka is to pour the waters of pure love on the Lord in one's heart. External abhisheka leads to internal abhisheka eventually and unites one with the Lord.#Shivaratri #mahashivaratri #abhisheka #shiva

February 2, 2025Today's Reading: Luke 2:22-32, 33-40Daily Lectionary: Zechariah 12:1-13:9; Titus 1:1-2:6“For my eyes have seen Your salvation, which You have prepared before the face of all people; a light to lighten the Gentiles and the glory of Your people Israel." (Luke 2:30-32)In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. Simeon saw with his eyes what the ancients of Israel longed to see, and he saw with his own eyes what many have no idea they need; that is salvation itself. Salvation embodied in the tiny infant, Jesus. A light of revelation to the Gentiles, to those whom Paul says were “at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.” (Eph. 2:12). But this salvation is also glory to the people of Israel whom Paul says in Romans have “fallen short of the glory of God.” (Rom. 3:23). Simeon cradles that very salvation in Jesus and essentially says, “I can die now peacefully. No regrets. No sorrow. No fear. All in joy, faith, and hope.” Why? Because salvation is here in Jesus. To those who know not the True God, the light of Jesus reveals the Divine Grace and tender mercy of the God who remembers our sins no more, all through the wisdom of the cross. To those who know God, He is the glory of God. The crowning fullness of the mystery of our faith, God truly manifested in the tenderness of a baby. The fulfillment of prophecies and even time and history itself. It's no wonder that we join the blessed Simeon in his song every Divine Service because we, too, in the Body and Blood of Christ, receive the light of Gospel revelation and the glory of Israel. For as the venerable Martin Luther would say in his Christian Questions with Their Answers, “Why should we remember and proclaim His death? ...Third, so we may find joy and comfort in Christ alone, and through faith in Him be saved.” (LSC 39); just like Simeon. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.Almighty God, by the voice of Your servant Simeon, You have taught us that joy, comfort, and salvation are of Christ alone. Cause us, by faith, to receive these promises in Your Holy Word and Sacraments, that whether we live or whether die, we may do so in Your perfect peace; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, ever One God, now and forever. On the following day he entered Caesarea. Now Cornelius was waiting for them and had called together his relatives and close friends. When Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell at his feet and worshiped him. But Peter raised him up, saying, “Stand up; I too am just a man.” As he talked with him, he entered and *found many people assembled. And he said to them, “You yourselves know how unlawful it is for a man who is a Jew to associate with a foreigner or to visit him; and yet God has shown me that I should not call any man unholy or unclean. That is why I came without even raising any objection when I was sent for. So I ask for what reason you have sent for me.” Cornelius said, “Four days ago to this hour, I was praying in my house during the ninth hour; and behold, a man stood before me in shining garments, and he *said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard and your alms have been remembered before God. Therefore send to Joppa and invite Simon, who is also called Peter, to come to you; he is staying at the house of Simon the tanner by the sea.' So I sent for you immediately, and you have been kind enough to come. Now then, we are all here present before God to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord.” Opening his mouth, Peter said: “I most certainly understand now that God is not one to show partiality, but in every nation the man who fears Him and does what is right is welcome to Him. The word which He sent to the sons of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ (He is Lord of all)— you yourselves know the thing which took place throughout all Judea, starting from Galilee, after the baptism which John proclaimed. You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. We are witnesses of all the things He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They also put Him to death by hanging Him on a cross. God raised Him up on the third day and granted that He become visible, not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen beforehand by God, that is, to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead. And He ordered us to preach to the people, and solemnly to testify that this is the One who has been appointed by God as Judge of the living and the dead. Of Him all the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins.””‭‭Acts‬ ‭10‬:‭23‬-‭43‬ ‭Support the showThe American Soul Podcasthttps://www.buzzsprout.com/1791934/subscribe

Did you know that 95% of people are settling for less than God's best for their lives? Y'all, we've got to break free from this comfort culture that's keeping us stuck! In this episode, we go deeper on what we started in part one. We're talking about breaking free from the ramifications of the soft life. This comfort culture and pursuit of ease is keeping us from stepping boldly into the life we were designed to live - a life of purpose, passion, and yes, prosperity. Breaking free from the soft life isn't about rejecting comfort. It's about exercising courage and embracing God's grace. It looks like: ●      Choosing to break every agreement you've made to protect yourself from harm. ●      Inviting and accepting God's divine protection. ●      Courageously stepping out of what's familiar and into what's possible. So my question to you is: Where in your life are you not experiencing God's best? Where are you settling for familiar pain instead of stepping into divine grace? Remember, breaking free from the soft life isn't just a choice - it's a declaration that you're ready to live God's best for your life. You're already equipped. Now it's time to get activated and empowered. So let's fight back, step out of our comfort zone, and live that significant life we were designed for.   *I want to support you in your significant life journey. A Touch of Light Podcast

It is not enough, of course, just to receive this grace in the form of a golden cord. We must also pass it on to all those we meet during the day. Whether through visualization, or simply an inner sense of connection, we should see ourselves as both recipients and channels of a golden cord of Divine Grace. The world needs channels for this light now more than ever.

This episode isn't just about the son who left and squandered his wealth, but also about the father's unwavering love and the lessons we can draw from his patience and forgiveness.  We'll explore how the father's actions, driven by immense love, defied societal norms and expectations, offering a powerful analogy for divine grace.   We'll take you through personal anecdotes that resonate with the parable, from the thrill of skipping routines as a child to the realization of the emotional impact of our actions on our parents. The story of the prodigal son offers profound insights into the radical compassion and forgiveness shown by the father, who welcomes his son back with open arms despite societal conventions. Drawing parallels between biblical narratives and our own experiences, we'll highlight the tension between outward appearances and internal motivations, revealing the boundless nature of true compassion and forgiveness.   Whether you've grown up with the parable of the prodigal son or are hearing it for the first time, this episode invites you to embrace the grace and unconditional love that awaits you. Through these stories, we hope to offer a message of hope, forgiveness, and the deep bonds that define family, encouraging you to come home to the love that never gives up on you.   For more information and resources, visit www.citylightnyc.com (00:00) The Prodigal Son's Father's Love(04:05) Privileged Sons and Father's Love(10:47) The Father's Unconditional Love(21:24) Extravagant Reckless Love of a Father(33:59) Father's Humble Love for His Sons(41:16) Invitation to Come Home

Today, our host Hunter delves deep into the essence of our desires versus our needs, reflecting on the Apostle Paul's own struggle with what he termed the "thorn in the flesh." Hunter encourages us to examine our own desires—whether they pertain to comfort, recognition, or healing within our families—and juxtaposes them with Paul's incessant pleading to God for relief from his own affliction. Hunter invites us to consider the possibility that there might be something we need that is far more critical than what we want, something epitomized by the divine response Paul received: the need for grace. From this, we're inspired to embrace our weaknesses as they lay the foundation for experiencing grace and God's love. Join us as we seek the wisdom, courage, and grace to accept what we truly need over what we might think we want, and as we extend that hopeful prayer to our loved ones and to each listener tuning in today. Stay with us for an enlightening journey through faith, desire, and divine grace on today's episode of Daily Radio Bible. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, they kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
