I podcasten nævner Maria bl.a. neuropsykologiske undersøgelser. Sukkulenter vokser nemlig naturligt i bl.a.

Sandwiched between our two equine-centric episodes, we travel back in time to revisit - and update - one of our all-time favorite episodes, “Man, I Feel Like A Woman.” The original episode was reported by Molly Livingstone, and produced by Benny Becker with help from Raoul Wootliff and Rachel Fisher. Shoshi Shmuluvitz scored the episode with music from Blue Dot Sessions, Dana Boulé and Ben Sound. Mishy Harman, Yochai Maital and Julie Subrin edited the piece. The update was produced by Skyler Inman and Yoshi Fields. The end song is a rendition of Eshet Chayil (“Woman of Valor”) produced by Mami as part of their Shabbat Songs Project. It was arranged by Ben Zion Shenker and Israel Kasif.Stay connected with us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and by signing up for our newsletter at israelstory.org/newsletter/. In the 1760s, a new kind of establishment started popping up in Paris, catering to the French and fancy. These places had tables, menus, and servers. They even called themselves “restaurants,” and you might have too, were it not for one key difference: these restaurants were places you went not to eat. Well, not to chew anyway. Because they weren’t in the business of feeding their genteel clientele, but of soothing their frayed nerves —with premium medicinal soups. Soups which were also called “restaurants”! In this episode: How restaurants evolved from a soup to a chic Parisian soup spa to the diverse, loved—and sorely missed—solid food eateries of today. Guests: Rebecca Spang is a professor of history at Indiana University. Stephani Robson is senior lecturer at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration. Footnotes & Further Reading: For more on early bouillon-sipping establishments and the rise of restaurants, take a peek at Rebecca Spang’s book, The Invention of the Restaurant: Paris and Modern Gastronomic Culture. Still can’t get enough restaurant history? Check out Dining Out: A Global History of Restaurants. If you, like Stephani Robson, are passionate about optimal chair spacing, check out one of her studies on the subject. To see some of Stephani’s work in action, listen to this collaborative episode from Planet Money and The Sporkful, on “The Great Data-Driven Restaurant Makeover.” Credits: Science Diction is hosted and produced by Johanna Mayer. Elah Feder is our editor and producer. We had story editing from Nathan Tobey. Daniel Peterschmidt contributed sound design and wrote all our music, except the accordion piece which was by Dana Boulé and the final piece by Jazz at the Mladost Club. We had research help from Cosmo Bjorkenheim. Chris Wood mastered the episode, and we had fact checking by Michelle Harris. Special thanks to Gregg Rapp for talking to us about menu engineering. The “Fab Fours French Frolic – Part Un – The Hitch To The South Of France” takes us back to the Summer of 1983 when four fine, handsome strutting bucks from the North East of England (Teesside to be precise!) decided to hitch-hike down to the South of France. This 1hr and 20 minutes or so episode is “Part Un – the Hitch Through France”. I’m not going to spoil it for you now by telling you all about it. Put the kettle on. Get your comfy chair all set up. Graham’s out fending off vaguely Lovecraftian horrors, but the rest of the crew is back to cover a surprisingly fun little one-off Batman episode! Bruce Wayne gets thrown into a pyramid scheme/cult by his close friend Little Dutch Rich Fred, which turns out to be led by the world’s most charismatic con man, NOSTROMOS! If only Batman could save him! Spoiler: Bruce Wayne is Batman. While they debate whether or not Nostromos is the true hero of this episode, Mitch auditions for the night shift on your local jazz station, Cameron literally runs away from the podcast and a whole lot of comics news gets covered. Louise Penny was well into her forties when she published Still Life, the first in what has become the wildly popular Armand Gamache mystery series. The novels are set in Québec, where Gamache is Chief Inspector of the provincial police force. They are meticulously plotted, part police procedurals, part exploration of human nature - and the precarious balance between good and evil. Louise Penny is now out with the thirteenth in the series, Glass Houses. Episode Music by Dana Boulé.

Anna nævner bl.a.
Forfatteren P.A. Medvirkende: Peter Henningsen Musik: Julia Kent, Dana Boulé

This month: Jenna Yokoyama interviews Canaan Schlesinger about seeming racially ambiguous. Then, Alan Montecillo looks into the aftermath of NYPD Officer Peter Liang's conviction. Finally, we look into Japanese internment during WWII: why it happened, how it happened, and the civil rights heroes who fought against it — including Oregon's very own Minoru Yasui. Yiscah Smith lives in Nahlaot, in Jerusalem. But her journey to this Orthodox-meets-hipster neighborhood took her through what seems like four lifetimes. She was born in Long Island, as Jeff Smith, to a Conservative Jewish family. Jeff married a woman, they became more religious, and moved to Israel. Jeff became Yaacov, a Chabad Rabbi, and also the father of six children. A few years later, Yaacov’s identity began to unravel, presenting a terrible dilemma: What do you do when you realize that in order to be true to yourself, you have to shatter everything around you, including the lives of those you love most? This is Yiscah’s story, as told to reporter Molly Livingstone. Produced by Benny Becker with help from Raoul Wootliff and Rachel Fischer, and music help from Shoshi Shmuluvitz. Music for this episode comes from Blue Dot Sessions, Dana Boulé, and Ben Sound.
