The Love, Happiness and Success Podcast With Dr. Lisa Marie Bobby
Have you ever felt like you are carrying something heavy that you cannot quite explain, something that does not even feel like it started with you? A few years ago I traced my own anxious drive back to grandparents I never met, people who were, in a real sense, being chased by wolves. It turns out a lot of what we call “my issues” was handed to us. And that makes it far more workable than it feels. In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Thomas Hübl, the teacher and trauma-integration facilitator who co-wrote the new book Releasing Our Burdens with Dr. Richard Schwartz, the creator of Internal Family Systems. Thomas studies healing as one continuum that runs from the individual to the ancestral to the collective, and he joined me to explain why the thing you keep trying to fix about yourself may not have started with you, and what becomes possible when you stop fighting it and start to thaw it. In This Episode Why the thing you keep trying to fix about yourself may not have started with you, and what that changes The freezer metaphor that explains what trauma quietly costs you every single day Why Thomas calls trauma “a loan from the future,” and how the bill comes due What is really happening when your partner says one thing and your whole body locks up How intergenerational trauma gets passed down, in your nervous system and even in your cells The difference between the resilience you inherited and the burden you inherited Why a whole country can feel stuck and reactive, and what that has to do with your own healing A different definition of healing: not fixing what is broken, but releasing what is frozen This episode is for anyone who has ever looked at their own anxiety, or their drivenness, or that low hum of feeling empty for no reason they can name, and thought, where is this even coming from? If you have done the personal work and still feel like there is a layer underneath you cannot reach, this conversation opens a door. Some of what you carry is not a personal failing. It is inherited. And it can be set down. This week, Thomas explores how the phenomenon of emergence occurs when we stop trying to escape into a "better" future and instead drop deeply into the present moment. He posits that growth occurs when we stop treating the world as an external object and instead recognize our inherent oneness with the global ecosystem… and that this perception shift is fundamental to all forms of healing. As Thomas says, “You are not in nature, you ARE nature.”This teaching also touches on the trap of “spiritual superiority,” focusing on how true wisdom arises not by shunning anyone who seems less in tune, but by maturing beyond ego-driven divisions and leading, with empathy, by example.✨ Watch the video version of this episode on YouTube:
Friedrich Schiller, Tim Krohn, Martina Clavadetscher. I sit down with Thomas Hübl to explore why modern society feels increasingly polarized, emotionally fragile, and disconnected. We unpack how collective trauma, ancestral pain, and unresolved wounds from previous generations continue to shape our relationships, politics, and inner lives today. Thomas shares powerful insights on masculinity, war, leadership, emotional numbness, and the importance of learning how to stay grounded in uncertainty instead of collapsing into fear or division. This was a deep and expansive conversation about healing, human connection, and what it means to become more whole in a rapidly changing world.SHOW HIGHLIGHTS00:00 - Introduction00:33 - Why People Struggle to Handle Disagreement03:23 - Social Media, Echo Chambers & Relational Fragility07:13 - Collective Trauma & The Speed of Modern Life12:15 - Mental Health, Trauma & Overwhelm13:57 - What Collective & Ancestral Trauma Really Means19:49 - Why Personal Healing Matters24:50 - The Generational Wounds Men Carry26:17 - War, Peace & Collective Responsibility32:50 - Fathers, Emotional Absence & Masculinity35:09 - Extremism, Uncertainty & Modern Chaos41:30 - Why Men Feel Alone44:56 - Politics, Division & Collective Pain50:19 - Disorientation in Modern Society52:21 - Leadership, Uncertainty & The Unknown56:46 - Learning to Trust Yourself58:36 - Releasing Inherited Burdens01:02:43 - Final Thoughts01:03:13 - Where to Find Thomas Hübl

What if the chaos in the world is reflecting something unhealed in all of us? In this episode of The Healing + Human Potential Podcast, I sit down with Thomas Hübl to explore how collective trauma shapes our inner world and the world around us, why so much of what we call normal is actually unresolved pain, and why healing was never meant to happen alone. Thomas shares how trauma moves through families, communities, and systems, shaping the patterns we keep repeating personally and collectively. We also explore inherited trauma, nervous system healing, community, and why hope becomes possible when healing is no longer something we try to do in isolation. If you have ever felt like your healing is connected to something bigger than just your own story, this episode offers a powerful perspective. === Guest Bio: Thomas Hübl, PhD, is a renowned teacher, author, and international facilitator who works within the complexity of systems and cultural change, integrating the core insights of the great wisdom traditions and mysticism with the discoveries of science. This week, Thomas shares a teaching on how to harness the energy and spiritual vitality of life into movement, growth, and healing–even (or especially) when you feel stuck or stagnant. When we're hurt or traumatized, we might suppress our energy because it's easier to feel numb and disconnected than to be present with overwhelming feelings. Thomas shares insights on how to move back into an energetic flow that recharges your battery and helps you inhabit your physical body in a resonant relationship with the earth. He shares the importance of community and collective practices in working to amplify your vitality, and how a supportive field can foster deeper embodiment and emotional maturity. But there are many types of communities, and Thomas shares how all spaces, including online spaces, can be fertile ground for healing.✨ Watch the video version of this episode on YouTube:

Send a textWhat if the real reason change doesn't stick is because we're building on a shaky inner foundation? We sit down with Blaise, a guide who helps growth‑oriented seekers turn spiritual insight into embodied change, to map a path from self-connection to stronger relationships and practical follow-through. His story is raw and hopeful: early derailments, a wake-up into presence, and the steady work of aligning words, energy, and action so people can actually trust us.Together we trace a developmental blueprint for healing that starts at the ground level: safety and rest through co-regulation, the skill of naming needs, the emergence of will and boundaries, and the heart's capacity to care for self and others. If you missed a “floor,” adult life exposes the gap—conflict in intimacy, people-pleasing, or the sense of being left out of your own care. Blaise shows how to renovate without shame. Feelings aren't commands, but they are truthful data; when we let energy move, we stop fighting ourselves and can include both facts and feelings in the moment. We also dig into how real teaching begins with listening. In Blaise's groups, everyone practices presence—not just the facilitator. Structure matters so safety scales, and permission becomes embodied when anger or grief is met with respect instead of punishment. He nods to formative influences—Adyashanti's clarity in meditation and Thomas Hübl's relational attunement—while offering accessible ways to start: free live meditations, principle-centered practices, and simple pauses like “Why am I talking?” for more honest conversations.Underneath it all is a grounded optimism. Access to healing resources is expanding, and more people are choosing a light-based mindset that acknowledges pain without being defined by it. If you've felt “aware” but stuck, this conversation offers a map and the encouragement to take your next step. Subscribe, share this with a friend who's doing the work, and leave a review telling us which part you'll practice this week.Blaise helps growth-oriented seekers turn spiritual insight into embodied change and healthier relationships. Da finanskrisen ramte, faldt aktiemarkederne i gennemsnit med over 55 pct. But the aftereffect, if it's not being taken care of, is a sense of disconnect from ourselves. This week, Thomas is joined once again by his dear friends, longtime students, and meditation instructors Susanne Ahlendorf and Martin Bruders, for a conversation that unpacks both elemental and complex elements of the practice of meditation. They break down the most essential spiritual components of meditation and how we can apply them to our own practice, at any experience level. Thomas shares insight on how to cultivate the “beginner's mind” and harness our attention by releasing unhelpful expectations of what a “good” practice should be.They also discuss the crucial role of the body in meditation, and how we can learn to embrace life's deepest and most difficult questions as our path to revelation.✨ Watch the video version of this episode on YouTube:

https://vimeo.com/1131876810?share=copy&fl=sv&fe=ci As we look around the world today, there's so much going on that is traumatizing so many people, and we're seeing all these repeating patterns of human history, and you might wonder, have we learned anything from the past? Why do we keep repeating these things? What's going on? And it's possible, it's just possible, for a moment, that what's happening is actually calling us back to wholeness. That all these traumas are actually some kind of evolutionary intelligence, a sacred survival mechanism that, when we meet with compassion and presence, can become a gateway to wholeness. And we're gonna hear about that today from our guest, Michael Stone, who is the author of the book "Traumatized: A Love Story, Healing the Wounds That Separate, Alienate, and Marginalize Us." Tune in, to find out more! Michael Stone was born committed to healing. Michael has led many transformational programs. He is a Gestalt Awareness practitioner, certified as a 5Rhythms Teacher, Trance Dance and Soul Motion. Michael Stone was a faculty member of The Shift Network and currently offers workshops and healing circles. Watch or listen to the show to discover ways to connect with community, integrate trauma and heal your soul. You're Invited! Still waiting to be met and embraced. My story is just one thread in a much larger tapestry of human resilience and return. Healing begins when we stop pathologizing trauma and start listening to our bodies. MICHAEL STONE BIO Michael Stone is a spiritual teacher, author, and organizational consultant whose work integrates modern trauma understanding with ancient practices of soul healing. For more than five decades, he has led individuals and groups through processes of awakening, embodiment, and transformation. As a trauma integration facilitator, and author of "Traumatized: A Love Story – Healing the Wounds that Separate, Alienate, and Marginalize Us"s, Michael's work reframes trauma not as a flaw to be fixed, but as an intelligent, sacred response—a misunderstood love story embedded in our nervous systems, calling us back to wholeness. Drawing from his background in Gestalt psychology, somatic awareness, and shamanic traditions, Michael's teachings illuminate trauma as an evolutionary intelligence—a sacred survival mechanism that, when met with compassion and presence, becomes a gateway to wholeness. Through his Healing & Integration Circles, retreats, and mentorship programs, he supports people in releasing inherited wounds and reclaiming the creative vitality of the nervous system. A lifelong student of teachers such as Thomas Hübl, Gabrielle Roth, and Sandra Ingerman, Michael bridges science, mysticism, and human connection to address the wounds of separation within the individual, the family system, and the collective field. His recent book, "Traumatized: A Love Story — Healing the Wounds that Separate, Alienate, and Marginalize Us", offers a powerful vision of how love, awareness, and embodied community can restore balance in a fragmented world. Are you truly existing in the world, or are you trying to escape it?This week, Thomas shares an exploration into personal and societal evolution. It all begins with creating an inner spaciousness from which we can engage with the world with embodied presence, even when it's difficult and uncomfortable. This teaching invites you to see challenges as gateways for transformation where innovation can emerge. Thomas shares how this principle applies on a small scale in our personal lives and on a larger scale as our societies undergo a detox process to digest the wounds of the past.✨ Click here to watch the video version of this episode on YouTube:
“Our history is not a history of divide. Our history is a history of coming together in greater and greater numbers.” - john a. powellIn this special bonus episode, Thomas sits down with john a. powell, law professor and Director of the Othering and Belonging Institute, to investigate the root causes and social function of “othering.”Humans are wired for connection, and according to john, othering is actually an unfortunate byproduct of our desire to belong and survive within a specific group. He and Thomas explore how storytelling has shaped the trajectory of human evolution, and how we can embrace our inherent interconnectedness to write more inclusive and peaceful stories for our shared future. If you'd like to hear the full conversation between john and Thomas, it's one of over 30 talks included in the upcoming Collective Trauma Summit 2025. Can you change your consciousness by changing the way that you breathe? This week, Thomas is joined by Rae Riedel, the co-founder, primary educator, and facilitator trainer of Integrative Breath. She's also a senior student of Thomas', having trained with him for over 13 years. Their conversation deeply explores the transformative power of breath work, bridging ancient mystical traditions with cutting-edge science.Breath is both a core element of spiritual practice and a physical process that directs the functioning of our nervous systems. It impacts how our brain stores memories, especially traumatic ones, and therefore plays a huge role in trauma healing and nervous system regulation.Rae and Thomas discuss how breath is also a portal into your unconscious mind and the depth of your spirit. Tune in to learn how to breathe in a way that supports somatic healing, connection with life, and a renewed feeling of vitality.✨ Click here to watch the video version of this episode on YouTube:
The beauty of the spiritual path lies in not having a fixed destination. This week, Thomas Hübl shares a teaching that opens us to a different mode of knowing—one that is emergent, direct, and arises from surrendering to its flow rather than attempting to control it.Tune in for a radical redefinition of the spiritual journey and learn how to embrace your unique agency in co-creating reality, refine your inner listening, and deepen your understanding of key mystical principles.✨ Click here to watch the video version of this episode on YouTube:
This week, we're revisiting Thomas' conversation with Esther Perel, a renowned psychotherapist, NYT bestselling author, and host of the podcast “Where Should We Begin?” They're also joined by her husband, Jack Saul, an artist, author, and psychologist. It's a deep discussion on working with trauma survivors, the healing power of creativity, and addressing the impacts of intergenerational trauma in therapy.Esther defines the “erotic” as a feeling of aliveness and vibrancy that transcends the context of romance. She shares how embracing this fundamental part of our humanity helps us survive traumatic circumstances and release the constriction and expectation of harm that often accompanies trauma. This is a powerful conversation that highlights how individual healing is deeply intertwined with collective healing, moving our understanding of therapeutic experiences beyond the isolated office into a shared space of transformation. It's one of our favorite conversations that we aired in the early days of Point of Relation, and we're excited to share it with you.✨ Click here to watch the video version of this episode on YouTube:
Can we create more richness and harmony in our lives by synthesizing scientific and spiritual ways of knowing? This week, Thomas shares his thoughts on this question and explains how bridging this divide into a unified understanding of reality might be the key to unlocking the full spectrum of human experience and intelligence.Tune in to explore how trauma creates a false sense of separation between these two worlds, and learn how practicing presence and attuning with the wholeness of the information field can create greater intimacy with life and open us to profound revelations and paradigm-shifting innovations.✨ Click here to watch the video version of this episode on YouTube:
Today, we're sharing an excerpt from Thomas' conversation with acclaimed travel writer, author, and speaker Pico Iyer at the upcoming Collective Trauma Summit. Pico's extensive travels and journeys into the realms of Buddhism and meditation have deeply inspired and informed his creative process. They also brought him into close contact with another artist and meditation practitioner, the legendary musician Leonard Cohen. In this snippet from his Summit talk, Pico shares his experience witnessing Cohen's dedicated Zen practice and how Cohen later brought this sacred, surrendered quality from his meditation practice into his concert performances, transforming them into communal, sacred experiences. Within this experience, there are profound lessons about accepting impermanence and surrendering to something beyond your individual self.If you're moved by this conversation and want to hear the full talk, sign up at the link below, and we'll notify you as soon as details are announced for the 2025 Collective Trauma Summit, taking place online this fall.https://pointofrelationpodcast.com/#email-signup ✨ Click here to watch the video version of this episode on YouTube:

Thomas Hübl (a frequent guest here) is a renowned teacher whose work has focused on resilience and healing trauma. In this conversation, we explore: Some of our biggest fractured interpretations of the world, and how we can gain more clarity and connection. The impulse to become very certain about something very quickly, and our tendency to see other people in 2D—and the consequences of doing so. Using our own energy to temper, or shift, a larger energy that feels overwhelming. Different ways to approach conflict. Letting go of our commitment to having the most extreme reaction. And some of our judgments around wellness and self-care.
