The whiteboard is completely dripping with cash, and the daily board has never looked more chaotic! Welcome inside a massive, week-opening Monday edition of The Lock Shop, streaming live on Edmonton Sports Talk. The band is officially back together! Dusty has returned from his brief hiatus to reclaim his spot at the main desk alongside Andrew "The Hustler" Paterson. The boys have a mountain of weekend action to sort through, ranging from heartbreak on the international soccer pitch to an absolute roster nuke that completely paralyzed the hockey world on Friday afternoon. On Today's Show: The Morocco Meltdown: The guys don't sugarcoat the opening topic. Team Canada's spectacular, inspiring run on the international soccer pitch came to a grinding, emotional halt over the weekend. A tough 3-0 clean sheet loss to Morocco officially eliminated the red and white. It absolutely sucked to watch, but Dusty and the Hustler break down why the broader future of this men's program remains incredibly bright. CFL Week 5 Wrap-Up & Elks Fall: The local football wheel finally slowed down, and the Green and Gold have tasted defeat for the first time this season. The undefeated Edmonton Elks dropped a 36-24 nail-biter out west against the BC Lions at Touchdown Kelowna. Dusty dives deep into the tape to track the costly turnovers, while the fellas review the entire Week 5 betting board to see who covered and where the lines are shifting for Week 6. The NHL Nuclear Bomb — Leo Carlsson Offer Sheeted!: Friday afternoon is usually a quiet time in the hockey world—unless Daniel Briere is your general manager. In a move that completely shattered the NHL landscape, the Philadelphia Flyers tendered a mind-boggling, record-breaking five-year, $90 million offer sheet to Anaheim Ducks' 21-year-old franchise center Leo Carlsson. At an $18 million average annual value, it immediately makes him the highest-paid player in hockey history. The boys weigh the absolute panic: Will Pat Verbeek and the Ducks match this poison-pill deal? Or do they let their star center go to Philly and walk away with four first-round draft picks? Most importantly, how does this completely break the market for upcoming RFA mega-stars like Connor Bedard? The Lock Shop is presented by Play Alberta!

They then discuss whether the Leafs defence core looks stronger following the move, if Matthew Knies should be on the trading block, and what the goaltending depth chart looks like in Toronto. Philadelphia Flyers General Manager Daniel Briere joins the show to discuss the Flyers move to acquire Joseph Woll and Simon Benoit, if he believes there will be a lot of movement in the league now that the Cup has been awarded, how the Flyers evaluate goaltending and why they had their eye on Woll, and what he expects out of Matvei Michkov next season. It's been 4 seasons since we have seen the Pens make it to the postseason and we get the battle of Pennsylvania off the bat. Do we still hate the Flyers? Is it more about hating their fans? They don't have guys like Scott Hartnell or Claude Giroux or Daniel Briere anymore. How do we feel about this matchup? Chris thinks the Penguins will take the series in 5 or 6 games and that idea worries Poni – because nobody out there is willing to pick the Flyers. Will Sidney Crosby continue his dominance over the team in Philadelphia? Poni said he can't say a bad word about Rick Tocchet because he once invited him to a Stanley Cup party.

The forward's new deal includes a no-movement clause for three seasons and a no-trade clause for the final season in 2026-27. Staal, 34, was set to become an unrestricted free agent Saturday.   Dundon said (on this show I believe) that it was a certainty they would be keeping him -Now we need to go get another Staal   Tony DeAngelo back? Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic reports that it is likely because of some hesitation from the NHL, over potential cap circumvention. DeAngelo was meant to go to Carolina with the Flyers retaining some salary, but since he was traded from the Hurricanes less than a year ago, it raised some red flags. As LeBrun explains, this isn’t exactly a regular situation. The Hurricanes traded him as an RFA, meaning they didn’t sign this contract, and Daniel Briere, the Flyers’ GM, wasn’t in place yet when Philadelphia inked this deal. There’s no real circumvention here, just a player that has worn out his welcome and a team looking to create cap space. The league is expected to meet with both teams in Nashville this week for the draft, where they will have to decide. Either sign off on it early, or force the teams to wait until July 9, when the calendar year since last summer’s trade would be up.   College World Series LSU wins game 1, Florida puts up 24 runs last night Championship tonight -guy pitching for LSU best in college baseball…about to pitch for 3rd time in 9 days, over 110 pitches every time -we don’t care how much dudes throw in college   Travelers Championship - Keegan Bradley -21 through 3 rounds Rickie Fowler shot a 60 –this was one of those tournaments where you say “ok, maybe the game is too easy for the pros”   Goodson will tell you how many strokes you need to make a good score Keegan Bradley faded down the stretch but holding on   The Rockies won their weekend set with the Angels with a minus-20 run differential for the series - the 2nd-largest negative run differential for a team that won a series in MLB history (1897 Louisville Colonels won a series vs CHI with minus-23 run diff.). New Philadelphia Flyers GM, and former NHL centreman, Daniel Briere joins the pod! Briere spoke on the transition from his playing career to an NHL front-office, the overwhelming feeling of starting his tenure as GM, and the advantage of having worked his way up within the Flyers organization. Plus, the Ivan Provorov trade, rumours surrounding Laughton and Konecny, and more! In Headlines, the guys discuss an already active off-season, and the many trade considerations ahead of the NHL Draft. Brett Pesce is a hot-topic as the talented defender could be on his way out of Carolina; could the Edmonton Oilers be a fit? Would Connor Brown help round-out the Oilers lineup? Alex Debrincat made his intention to leave the Senators known, and the scoring winger is sure to garner a lot of interest around the league. The guys discuss Debrincat's decision, and Ray cautions teams not to give up too much if they don't already have a playmaker to create offence.  Victor Olofsson might be the odd-man-out in Buffalo as the winger notched 28 goals, and has one-year left on his contract. Ray touts the forward's value as someone who can ‘light the lamp'. Plus, Erik Karlsson trade rumours and if it's possible for San Jose Sharks GM Mike Grier to offload the (likely) Norris Trophy winner's $11 million salary. Kris Abbott returns from his overseas hiatus, as the trio discuss Betano.ca releasing odds for the 2024 Stanley Cup champion. Kris discusses how bettors can play an early hunch on next year's cup odds, and identifies the favourites after the Vegas Golden Knights cup-win. Given how poor Provorov's last season was, and the return he was able to create for the Flyers, the hosts discuss what this means for the Joel Edmundson trade market, and why Kent Hughes might have put himself in great position before the NHL Draft. Rumblings continued from there for the Flyers, with Carter Hart likely on the move in the relative near future and the Montreal Canadiens seem to be a potential landing spot for the young goalie. The Philadelphia Flyers have started the overhaul of the organization. They have officially hired Keith Jones as President of Player Operations. This could be a really great move for the organization. He understands the organization, the goals, and what it means to be a Flyer from his playing days here in Philadelphia. The Flyers have also announced that they have removed the interim tag and promoted Daniel Briere as General Manager. Another former player who understands the organization and what the team and fans' expectations are. These gentlemen bring a lot of knowledge and experience to the Flyers Front Office. Has the Rebuild officially started for the Philadelphia Flyers? The Conference Finals are all set in the NHL Playoffs. In the East, the Florida Panthers' Cinderella run continues as they face the Carolina Hurricanes starting Thursday night. The Florida Panthers have shocked the World so far in these Playoffs by knocking off two of the best teams in the East, the Boston Bruins and the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Panthers managed to come all the way back from down 3-1 to the Bruins. As a result, they have carried a ton of momentum since and have been very tough to beat. On the other side, the Carolina Hurricanes have played very good, sound hockey. They handled the New Jersey Devils pretty easily in the previous round, winning in five games. This makes for a very intriguing matchup to see who represents the Eastern Conference in the Stanley Cup Final. Out West, the Dallas Stars, fresh off their exciting Game 7 victory against the pesky Seattle Kraken, will face off against the Vegas Golden Knights. These two teams will face off for the right to represent the West for the second time since 2020. Dallas won that matchup in 2020 and went on to face the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Stanley Cup Finals, where they fell to the Lightning in six games. There are definitely a lot more intriguing factors in this series than there are in the East with the style these two teams play. Vegas has a loaded offense that knows what to do with the puck and a lot of high-power offensive players. On the other side, the Stars are a big physical defensive team that knows how to wear teams down. This series will come down to which goaltender will step up and make the big saves when required. Who will rep the conferences in the Stanley Cup Finals?
