Smylie is joined by Erik van Rooyen following an incredibly emotional few days for the latest winner on the PGA Tour. Erik and his caddie Alex Gaugert celebrated their win at the World Wide Technology Championship with heavy hearts, as their friend and college teammate Jon Trasamar processes his final days with a terminal cancer diagnosis. Erik played brilliantly in his last nine holes at the WWT, shooting an 8-under 28 to win the tournament and dedicate the victory to Jon. Erik and Alex then traveled immediately to see Jon, and shares some of the memories made on that visit. Erik's win was incredibly significant for his career as well - he entered the week sitting in the 125th, and final, spot on the FedEx Cup points list that would earn him a Tour card next season, and with the win, he guaranteed his full status for 2024.

Erik Van Rooyen fired a blistering 28 on the back nine which included an eagle on the finishing hole to win by 2 shots in Mexico to claim his 2nd PGA Tour title. The win was very emotional for EVR as his friend is battling terminal cancer, and he showed a lot of perspective afterward. Is there another Tiger comeback brewing? What a week in golf it has been, so much to talk about we barely have time for the show opener. And today's show isn't from the Australian Golf Centre, home of the PGA of Australia and Golf Australia, Nick is live from Central Victoria not far from Cathedral, and Mark is overlooking the beautiful 4th hole at Box Hill Golf Course in Melbourne.We start by looking at the Erik Van Rooyen's incredible win in the World Wide Technology Championship. A great performance with so many brilliant stories coming out of it, not only from Erik. Nick and Mark discuss how a number of Australian golfers from the current Order of Merit will be able to go to Round 1 of LIV qualifying, and how the PGA tour might respond to the players who do go to qualifying. Mark's view is that the PGA will not be impressed if any Australian player goes to LIV qualifying, and asks Nick for his opinion. No job in golf has evolved more than the tour caddie. Once just a set of shoulders to carry a bag, caddies have grown to assume different roles for different players. Some have been elevated to where they're mentioned in the same breath as the guys hitting the shot. Others are just friends or family with no prior caddying experience but serve as a player's trusted ally and protector. The job has simultaneously grown more complicated thanks to the myriad demands on tour; and easier because of new tools at their disposal.
