On the latest MLB offseason edition of Inside the (Rob) Parker, Rob leads off with a deep dive into Tom Brady's retirement from the NFL. Football writers worship at Brady's feet so all signs point to him being a unanimous Pro Football Hall of Famer. But, given Brady's history of cheating (DeflateGate and SpyGate), do you think he would still get into the Hall of Fame if baseball writers were the ones doing the voting? If the writer kept Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens out of Cooperstown for circumstantial evidence at best, you don't think they'd do the same to a convicted cheater like Brady? Guess we'll never know. Later, baseball content creator Gary Sheffield Jr swings by to discuss his father's Hall of Fame candidacy, why he was so disappointed to see so many writers hold the Steroid Era against his dad even though he never tested positive, why his father's history of coming up clutch in the postseason should matter more, why some guys have a hard time playing well under the bright lights of New York and much more! Finally, Rob closes the show by praising MLB for putting an up-and-coming star like Jazz Chisholm on the cover of MLB The Show 23 - another 'MLB Bro you need to know' doing big things! Ryan Pacatte joins Jack Vita to discuss and break down the 2023 Baseball Hall of Fame voting. Former St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Scott Rolen was voted into the Hall of Fame Tuesday by the BBWAA. No other players were voted in to be inducted, although Colorado Rockies great Todd Helton (72.2%) and closer Billy Wagner (68.1%) came close, and are on track to enter the Hall soon. 2000 National League MVP Jeff Kent was denied entry for the tenth time, and now falls off the writer's ballot. He will have a chance to enter the Hall of Fame through one of the veterans committees. Ryan and Jack discuss the Hall of Fame cases for players that did not receive induction in 2023, including Helton, Wagner, Kent, Andruw Jones, Gary Sheffield, Carlos Beltran, Alex Rodriguez, Manny Ramirez, Andy Pettitte and Bobby Abreu. Later on, Ryan and Jack discuss the latest news stories from the MLB offseason, including Major League Baseball's investigation into Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Mike Clevinger and a big trade between the Minnesota Twins and Miami Marlins, where the Marlins sent Pablo Lopez and prospects to Minnesota in exchange for 2022 AL batting champion Luis Arraez. Ryan and Jack break it all down!

(https://atgridiron.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/ATG-Markus.png) Markus enjoyed a 5 year pro football career playing in the NFL, CFL and Europe. As a twin, he claims he’s not the best athlete in the family with his twin sister holding that title. All of his siblings are in fact holders of a state championship in their respective sports. He started playing football at the age of 10, having been a baseball player up until then. He actually went to grade school with the great Hall of Fame Baseball player Ken Griffey Jr. Even back then you could tell that he was a special player and was bound for greatness. He went to a football powerhouse high school where he won a state championship. Numerous players on the team were sought after by schools in the recruiting process. He was sick on the day when most schools came to the school to recruit so was unable to talk with the visiting coaches. A friend who came to visit the school and was attending Eastern Kentucky came by and volunteered to take him on a tour of the school. While there he met with the coach who offered him a scholarship on the spot! The coach didn’t think he had a shot to land him as a recruit but his boldness paid off. Markus left the school as the All-Time leading rusher in 1-AA football. Despite his stellar career, he was not selected in the draft. His slower 40 yard dash time at his workout was a deterrent for most teams. However he got an opportunity with the Philadelphia Eagles and made the team. After his time with the Eagles, he played in Europe, where he experienced a whole new culture. That is where he was exposed to the dislike of US citizens and realized the reason for it. He attended a soccer game while there and had the best fan experience of his life! He wish he could bottle that and bring it to North America! At the end of his time on his European team, he was not getting along with the coaches and decided to quit the team there. Upon his return, he was pursued by the Hamilton Tiger Cats and signed with them. He was initially hesitant to sign, but they convinced him to come. Newly married he brought his wife up with him after making the team out of training camp. Unfortunately they had a bad start to the season and the coach was fired. With the person who wanted him there the most now gone, Markus was soon to be let go as well. The following week he was released. He returned to the States to work for a company using his degree from Eastern Kentucky. While working his 9-5, the XFL came about and were looking for players. His wife encouraged him to play if he still wanted to pursue it. He had the application ready, however his last experience left a bad taste in his mouth for football and the politics and uncertainty of it. He ultimately decided not to tryout. He’s now working for American Auto Wire doing graphic and Multimedia for them. He also works for Apple in sales and hosts his own podcast called The Pro Fan Podcast.
