Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”Feeling pressured to pick between Socialism and Capitalism? We challenge that trap and make a case for a third way that takes human dignity seriously, starts in the heart, and rebuilds culture from the ground up. We walk through why many young people gravitate toward socialism when family and schools fail them, and why unconstrained capitalism—when severed from God and moral law—leaves the soul hungry and communities brittle. Then we chart a different path rooted in a Christian vision of freedom ordered to the good, where love of God flows into love of neighbor, and where formation shapes the kind of people who can actually sustain a free society. You'll hear hard critiques—of socialism and hypercapitalism's nihilism—paired with hopeful, concrete steps: prayer that grounds the day, the sacraments that renew the heart, small groups that build accountability, and local action that serves the poor, protects life, and strengthens communities. We also discuss the Claymore battle plan as a practical map for spiritual formation and cultural rebuilding. The goal isn't outrage; it's forming men and women who can love well, raise families, start businesses with integrity, and anchor parishes that become bright centers of mercy and truth. If you're tired of false choices and hungry for a life that unites faith, work, and citizenship, this is your invitation to begin. Subscribe, share this episode with a friend who needs hope, and leave a review with one habit you'll start this week to live the third way.Read "Directing Our Passions and Desires to a Love that is Beautiful" Here are the links to Jack's Substack and  X https://x.com/JP2RenewalCheck out the Podcast on YouTubeContact us: info@jp2renew.orgSupport the show

The topic of this sermon is Romans 9, a very difficult portion of Scripture. When dissecting Romans 9, Chase discusses (1) key terms Paul utilizes (elect–children of the promise–and so on and so forth), (2) Paul's personal history and unique experiences that give light and insight into his words, (3) the idea of a “New Israel” which extends beyond the previous idea of an ethnic race, (4) the concept of God handpicking individuals with whom He wishes to spend eternity, (5) the fairness of God's authorship–choosing some and not others, (6) and lastly, the implications there in. The viewer should be (1) humbled; we are not the cause of either others salvation or our own. Second, one should (2 ) trust, worship, and adore God for His sovereign choosing and authorial power on the basis of His revealed qualities which are GOOD. Lastly, the believer should be motivated to (3) evangelize, knowing that God not only appoints who will be saved but also the means of salvation.

You're listening to American Ground Radio with Louis R. Avallone and Stephen Parr. This is the full show for November 6, 2025. 0:30 We take a look at Speaker Mike Johnson's warning that today’s Democratic Party has been overtaken by an ideological movement far removed from its working-class roots. Once the party that called itself the party of the middle class and moderation, Democrats have shifted so sharply to the left that traditional voices are nearly extinct. 9:30 Plus, we cover the Top 3 Things You Need to Know. Former Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi will not run for another term in Congress. The FAA is ordering 40 of the biggest airports in the country to begin restricting flights. The US Supreme Court ruled that the federal government does have the right and the power to insist only biological sex can be listed on US issued passports. 12:30 Get Prodovite Plus from Victory Nutrition International for 20% off. Go to vni.life/agr and use the promo code AGR20. 13:00 We unpack Ronald Reagan’s iconic declaration that “government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem,” then contrast it with Mamdani’s modern-day claim that “there is no problem too large for government to solve and no concern too small for it to care about.” If you want to see what happens when government tries to solve everything, look at cities like New York, San Franscisco, Chicago, and Portland. Skyrocketing taxes, tent cities, rampant crime, and deepening inequality despite billions in government spending. 16:30 American Mamas Teri Netterville and Kimberly Burleson react to the stunning — but not surprising — election of Zoran Mamdani as mayor of New York City. The Mamas discuss the fiery tone of Mamdani’s victory speech, where he quoted socialist figures like Eugene V. Debs rather than American founders, and how his words reflect what they see as a deeper ideological shift in American politics. If you'd like to ask our American Mamas a question, go to our website, AmericanGroundRadio.com/mamas and click on the Ask the Mamas button. 23:00 We discuss the surge of over 35,000 Americans applying to become “Homeland Defenders” — a new initiative under the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services within the Department of Homeland Security. The goal? Strengthen the nation’s immigration system by ensuring that only those who meet legal standards are granted entry or benefits. 25:30 We Dig Deep into one of the most shocking takeaways from the week’s elections — the erosion of political accountability. We reflect on a time when personal misconduct or moral scandal could end a political career, pointing back to Gary Hart’s downfall in the 1980s as a stark contrast to today. From Zoran Mamdani’s incendiary rhetoric, to Virginia’s new attorney general Jay Jones and his disturbing text messages, to Mikie Sherrill’s Naval Academy cheating scandal, and even an admitted illegal immigrant elected mayor in St. Paul, the discussion paints a picture of a political culture where outrage no longer matters — at least, not for one side of the aisle. 32:00 Get TrimROX from Victory Nutrition International for 20% off. Go to vni.life/agr and use the promo code AGR20. 32:30 We turn to Clearwater, Kansas, where Mayor Joe Sabalas, a non-citizen permanent resident from Mexico, has not only served as mayor—but was just reelected. Even more troubling, records show he voted illegally in U.S. elections multiple times, leading to felony charges of election perjury and unlawful voting. 35:30 Plus, a new Christianity Today report shows Gen Z now leads all generations in church attendance, and that's a Bright Spot. This hunger for truth and spiritual grounding contrasts sharply with the moral confusion shaping politics and culture. It looks like Gen Z realizes that the next generation’s hope isn’t found in movements or ideologies, but in the gospel itself. 40:00 For the sixth straight month, U.S. Border Patrol has reported zero illegal immigrant releases into the country—a stark contrast to the 150,000–200,000 monthly releases under the Biden administration. Trump looked at all the people coming across the border and said, "Whoa!" 41:30 And we finish off with a story about Abraham Lincoln and a letter that was discovered earlier this year that shows his character. He shares about how the tragedy in Parkland, FL launched him into the political fray. Hogg notoriously served as a Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee for a brief time. He tells us about some of the inner workings of the DNC and then what happened when shit hit the fan. He argues that too many long-serving Democrats in Congress are "asleep at the wheel" and believes that backing younger primary challengers is the solution. We also lay out what kind of messaging Democrats need to focus on to win back young voters and improve their brand. Donald Trump and the Republicans are wildly unpopular, but the Democrats are often even less popular. The answer? Be the party who fights for affordable healthcare and lowering everyday costs.  LEARN more about David's Political Action Committee: https://leaderswedeserve.com/

featured Wiki of the Day

fWotD Episode 3037: Harry Crerar Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia's finest articles. The featured article for Thursday, 28 August 2025, is Harry Crerar.General Henry Duncan Graham Crerar, (28 April 1888 – 1 April 1965) was a senior officer of the Canadian Army who became the country's senior field commander in the Second World War as commander of the First Canadian Army in the campaign in North West Europe in 1944–1945, having rapidly risen in rank from brigadier in 1939 to full general in 1944.A graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada, in Kingston, Ontario, Crerar was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Non-Permanent Active Militia in 1909, serving with the 4th Battery, Canadian Field Artillery, which was based in Hamilton, Ontario. He rose to the rank of lieutenant-colonel in the artillery. He saw action in the First World War, for which he was mentioned in despatches and made a companion of the Distinguished Service Order. Electing to remain in the army as a professional soldier after the war, he attended the Staff College, Camberley, from 1923 to 1924, and the Imperial Defence College in 1934. He was appointed Director of Military Operations & Military Intelligence in 1935 and Commandant of the Royal Military College of Canada in 1939.During the Second World War he became General Officer Commanding the 2nd Canadian Infantry Division, which was then stationed in England, in late 1941. He was promoted to lieutenant-general and assumed command of I Canadian Corps, fighting briefly in the Italian campaign in late 1943 and in early 1944. In March 1944 he returned to the United Kingdom where he assumed command of the First Canadian Army which, despite its designation, contained a significant number of British, Polish and Czech troops, including the British I Corps and the Polish 1st Armoured Division.Under Crerar's command, the First Canadian Army fought in the latter stages of the Battle of Normandy in July−August 1944, participating in Operation Totalize, Operation Tractable and the Battle of the Falaise Pocket, before being tasked with clearing the Channel Coast. Crerar was promoted to full general on 16 November 1944, becoming the first Canadian officer to hold that rank in the field. During Operation Veritable, the battle for the Rhineland in 1945, the First Canadian Army controlled nine British divisions. The Army became more Canadian with Operation Goldflake, the redeployment of the I Canadian Corps from Italy, and played a key role in the liberation of the western Netherlands in April 1945, shortly before the end of World War II in Europe. With the war over, Crerar retired from military service in 1946. Canadian military historian J. L. Granatstein wrote of Crerar that: "No other single officer had such impact on the raising, fighting, and eventual disbanding of the greatest army Canada has ever known. Crerar was unquestionably the most important Canadian soldier of the war."This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:43 UTC on Thursday, 28 August 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Harry Crerar on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm standard Raveena.

Knowing Who and What To Ask About Amputation     Becoming an amputee is so surreal. Electing to have it done is a choice I never thought I would have to make. It brings about fears, anxieties, questions, and so much uncertainty. How do you know life will be better? What if I can't wear a prosthesis? Will I walk again or will I be in a wheelchair the rest of my life? How long does it take to heal from an amputation Do I get a leg right away? Is walking like riding a bike, easy once you do it again? How do I find a prosthetist? Do I need to go to PT while I'm healing or after I get a leg? So many questions, yet so many more that you may not even be thinking of. How do you know what to ask your doctor? What type of doctor is best for this surgery? Who is the most important person in your life right now, or how about in 5-10 years? Most of these questions I, myself, didn't even know that I had because I didn't know I needed to ask them. But I got lucky, or maybe it was fate. My surgeon was amazing. He sent me to the best prosthetist in town at The Limb Center. The Limb Center sent me to an amazing, caring physical therapist at Touchstone Rehabilitation. They were my team, and besides my family, they were my biggest supporters and fighters for my life, dreams, and goals.   Listen in today, and please share this episode with someone you know is going through, or about to go through, amputation. It may give them a better than fighting chance of knowing more about what is to come and allow them to find greater success as an amputee. We all have a warrior spirit within us just waiting to be called out. You need to educate yourself, and learn to fight for the life you want. Now is the time to be that warrior, so rise up, dear Warrior, and pave the path to your successes. I hope you find something that helps you, motivates you, and supports you in this episode. Don't forget to like and subscribe so you don't miss an episode. Have a blessed week ahead. And as always,   Be Healthy, Be Happy, Be YOU!!! Much love,

[School of Movies 2025] Here is a film we were very excitedly waiting for. We had already been waiting an age for the first Captain Marvel movie in 2019, a project that would have been put into effect had Ike Perlmutter not maintained for years that female-led superhero films wouldn't make money. The thing swept in just over a billion dollars and made a lot of boys on YouTube very cross. Four years and a pandemic later, two Disney Plus monoseries emerged over that time, the celebrated WandaVision, which featured the returning little girl Monica Rambeaux, now an adult and working for Nick Fury, and then there was the underseen Ms. Marvel, featuring the equally long-awaited first appearance of the endlessly charming Kamala Khan. Electing to bring together these three ladies in a spacefaring adventure was neat, however, as you'll hear from our extensive talk on the structure and narrative, nobody was well-served by the direction this took, least of all the excellent director of Candymen (2021), Nia DaCosta. Plus, I've forgotten the name of the villain! Next Week: Agatha All Along

Chuck Todd begins by reacting to President Donald Trump's decision to order airstrikes on Iran's nuclear facilities. He explains that diplomacy was still on the table, that Israel backed him into a corner, and why he believes that Kamala Harris would have made the same decision if she was president. He highlights the potential ways Iran could strike back, and debates whether this move actually will make the world safer. He also examines the state of the New York mayoral primary and why the Democratic establishment is scared of one particular candidate. Then CNN's Jake Tapper joins Chuck for an in-depth discussion that spans politics, media, and personal insights. The duo discuss Tapper's bestselling new book “Original Sin” and explore critical questions about journalism's role in vetting political candidates, particularly examining President Biden's age and cognitive health, the media's coverage of his decline, and whether there was a coordinated effort to shield him from scrutiny. They offer their perspectives on Biden's decision to run for re-election, the dynamics surrounding Kamala Harris's selection as VP, and how the political establishment rewards seniority over merit in Congress.Beyond the serious political analysis, the conversation takes a more personal turn as Tapper discusses his approach to social media detox, his upcoming book about Nazi war criminal Klaus Barbie, and his thoughts on political satire from South Park to SNL. They also dive into lighter territory, covering everything from Philadelphia sports fandom and memorabilia collecting to streaming recommendations and the challenges of maintaining work-life balance as a high-profile journalist. This episode offers both sharp political commentary and genuine personal insights from two veteran journalists reflecting on their craft and the current media landscape. Finally, he answers questions in the “Ask Chuck” segment, and reflects on the life of his family dog Ruby after her passing. Timeline:(Timestamps may vary based on advertisements)00:00 Introduction01:00 Trump orders attack on Iran's nuclear facilities02:00 Nobody wants a nuclear arms race in the middle east02:30 Bombing was a choice, there were other options03:45 The consequences will affect the entire globe05:15 Other countries could race toward nukes06:00 Israel cornered the US government into airstrikes07:45 Kamala Harris probably would have ordered the airstrikes*09:15 Israel would have forced the president's hand either way10:15 Trump didn't make the case for strikes in remarks to the nation12:00 Iran could strike back asymmetrically 12:45 Congress has been sidelined, this is Trump's war14:45 Did this make the U.S. and the world safer?17:30 Trump violated the law by not notifying Democrats about the strike19:30 Eric Swalwell issues an alarming statement about 2028 election20:45 NYC mayoral primary will show where the energy in the party is23:00 Mamdani's candidacy scares the Democratic establishment24:20 Jake Tapper joins the Chuck ToddCast! 25:20 How Jake and Chuck met 29:40 Covid set back younger generation's social development 31:35 Disengaging from social media 33:50 Negative feedback online vs. in-person 35:20 Are politicians constantly suspicious of journalists? 37:20 Give politicians the benefit of the doubt? 38:20 Congress won't pass the STOCK Act 39:05 Biden's decision to run was the "original sin" 40:35 Biden originally ran with his family under duress 42:35 There are myths in the legend of Joe Biden 43:50 Biden's resilience led him to the bad decision to run 44:35 The "blame the media" narrative around Biden 45:50 How should the media change its vetting process for candidates? 47:35 Presidential health reports should be subject to perjury 48:20 Biden never took a cognitive test 49:20 Age cap on politicians requires constitutional amendment 50:20 No evidence that autopen was used 51:35 There's a culture of coddling "too old" members in congress 53:50 The system rewards seniority over accomplishment 55:50 Kay Granger being in a dementia center was covered up 57:20 Loss of local urgency in political coverage 59:20 Older politicians are less invested in the future 1:00:50 In any other sphere, Biden's decline is disqualifying 1:02:20 Was the cover up a lack of faith in Harris? 1:03:35 Harris VP choice was for political reasons, not governing 1:05:20 VP pick was between Harris and Whitmer 1:07:05 The super original sin was Obama endorsing Clinton 1:10:35 Start of Biden's decline can be traced back to Beau's death 1:12:20 Obama has never spoken on Biden's decline 1:14:50 What style of book do you like to write the most? 1:18:05 Jake's next book is about Klaus Barbie 1:19:05 Best current political satire? 1:22:35 South Park is the best at capturing the culture 1:24:20 Trump bit on SNL is worn out 1:26:20 Jake's streaming recommendations 1:30:20 Does Jake ever stop working? 1:31:50 Staying off social media 1:33:20 Journalists shouldn't be celebrities 1:34:35 Which Philly sports team will you follow even if they suck? 1:36:50 Collecting sports memorabilia 1:39:05 The entire SEC cheated 1:40:20 The long form podcast format vs short TV interviews 1:43:20 The public's reaction to "Original Sin" 1:45:20 Trump has been backed into a corner with Iran1:48:00 Chuck's thoughts on the interview Jake Tapper 1:48:30 Ask Chuck - Who would you put on Mt. The UK and India have agreed to the terms of a free trade deal, set to be Britain's largest since Brexit. Yet, controversial tax breaks could exempt Indian migrants from paying National Insurance for the next three years, a move that critics are calling ‘pro-immigration'. And catholics wait for the sign of white smoke as cardinals gather behind the Vatican's closed doors to choose the next pope. Despite the unpredictability of the conclave, there are some candidates emerging as favourites with eleven main contenders and the chosen cardinal is widely expected to carry on Pope Francis's agenda of progressive politics when elected. Jana Byars talks to Miles Pattenden about his book, Electing the Pope in Early Modern Italy, 1450-1700 (Oxford UP, 2017), just about to be released in paperback. This study offers a radical reassessment of the history of early modern papacy, constructed through the first major analytical treatment of papal elections in English. Papal elections, with their ceremonial pomp and high drama, are compelling theater, but, until now, no one has analyzed them on the basis of the problems they created for cardinals: how were they to agree rules and enforce them? How should they manage the interregnum? How did they decide for whom to vote? How was the new pope to assert himself over a group of men who, until just moments before, had been his equals and peers? This study traces how the cardinals' responses to these problems evolved over the period from Martin V's return to Rome in 1420 to Pius VI's departure from it in 1798, placing them in the context of the papacy's wider institutional developments. Miles Pattenden argues not only that the elective nature of the papal office was crucial to how papal history unfolded but also that the cardinals of the fifteenth to eighteenth centuries present us with a unique case study for observing the approaches to decision-making and problem-solving within an elite political group. We also talk about the process in light of the upcoming Conclave and the election of a new pope. Learn more about your ad choices.
