Join us as we sit down with Tim Cullings, Executive Director of Global Game Jam, to discuss the organization, the event, and the impact it has had on the game industry in its 15th year of operation. Global Game Jam (GGJ) is a worldwide event taking place from January 30th - February 5th in over 700 locations and 100 countries, fostering community, collaboration, and creativity among game enthusiasts. Today's guests are Pro Dance Team Coaches and Founders of the Cultivate Code, Sabrina, and Amira. These women have a wealth of knowledge about dancing in the NBA or NFL and I think a lot of our conversation translates to high school and college teams as well. We talk about mentoring professional dancers and why it's so different, giving honest feedback as a coach at any level, the importance of coaching the whole dancer, finding your confidence as an NFL or NBA dancer, misconceptions about what it takes to really takes to be successful in the pro dance team world, and my new favorite topic: coaching your dancers to have a learning mindset. Listen in today for great coaching advice from Sabrina and Amira. _____________ Mentioned in Today's Show: Website: The Cultivate Code Instagram: @thecultivatecode Growth and Gratitude Journal: https://www.cultivatecode.co/GGJ 3-Day Cultivate Confidence Challenge (happening Feb 6, 7, 9) - https://www.cultivatecode.co/ac LCS Clean & Confident Waitlist page (cart opening Feb 15-22) - https://www.cultivatecode.co/lcsccwaitlist __________ Did you enjoy today's episode? Game Developers and technophiles in general. Do you know about the Global Game Jam and it’s impact on the gaming community? Game Jams in general are ubiquitous and a great way to advance and sharpen your skills. They are also a great way to network and pad your portfolio. On episode 35 we sit down with long time pal Chad Hoover from the Orlando Game Space to talk about the recent GGJ and upcoming jams and opportunities here in Orlando for you to get involved with. We are fortunate to have such an active community here in Orlando and hope you will take advantage of these and other events. Spread the word and get involved. Much love as always to the always evolving Carlos Ivan. You make the podcasts sound great. Thanks also to the Orlando Game SPace for making room for us each month.

This episode is outside the normal one a week format I have been trying to deliver. It is also very special to me talk about the Global Game Jam and how awesomely cool or rad or excellent the GGJ is and all the amazing people who are involved. The Global Game Jam in 2019 generated teams in 860 sites in 113 countries, who over the course of one weekend created 9,010 games. One more time 9010 games!!!! This years theme is Repair and I can't wait to see the new games that are developed! I am especially excited to see the games developed out of Bellevue College in Bellevue, Washington (go figure) after visiting on Friday evening of their GGJ event. Huge, HUGE Thanks to Michael and Renee the organizers at Bellevue College for the tour and walk through of the GGJ site, overview of BC's program, introductions to student and staff and especially giving a great interview! Also huge thanks to Kate Edwards, without whom I may not know anything about the gaming industry, indie games and the Global Game Jam!
We are back for 2020!!! On this episode, hosts Mukuma and Elias reflect on 2019 and its special moments, plus they share the mic with Game Development advocate Sithe Ncube. She is the founder of Prosearium.Net & Ubongo Game Labs, she is also the Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Organizer for Global Game Jam. Prosearium.net is an initiative to document 1000 African women of all backgrounds and their experiences creating and uploading their own game. We talk about the Global Game Jam including the progress in terms of site registrations across Africa. If you are organizing or organized a site for GGJ, we would like to hear from you. In the first of their Global Game Jam themed episodes, Ben and Trevor take the theme 'Deception' and use it in every Click Pitch this week! The result is a squirrel trying to steal nuts in a metroidvania set in a zoo, a reporter trying to infiltrate a secret society in the lead up to World War 2, the follow up to Rockstar's Bully finally being released 70 years late, and we design the latest version of the Fit Bit!
