Send us a textKrys tells of the Gettysburg Orphanage. This was started due to a picture of a family of a perished soldier in the area. Sergeant Amos Hurniston was the soldier that started this by dying with the picture of his fam. The orphanage was built to house the orphans of Union soldiers. While this began as a noble idea, this soon turned into something more sinister. Yeah, not good and a breeding ground for ghosts. Tori takes us to another battlefield, Yorktown. Seemed like it was time for Revolutionary War battlefields. This was the most well known as the last land battle of the Revolutionary War. This was a siege that finally gave the US its independence. Fun fact, The World Turned Upside Down is an actual British drinking song and not just a Hamilton reference. The next one was the Palermo Capuchin Crypt. This one is even creepier because the whole place is full of mummies. You heard me right, mummies. This was apparently a very big status symbol to be a mummy interred in the crypt. Guess what y'all, there are ghosts and they like hanging out with prettiest mummy in the world. Krys tells us of the Witches Village. This site has striking parallels with Salem in the States. This was yet another story about demonizing women. This strife ended up pitting villagers against their neighbors. Triora stands to this day and they embrace history both bad and good. Tori comes back with the island of Poveglia. Time slips, ghosts, and perhaps even the Queen herself visits from beyond the brave. Some of the furniture still there is some of the originals as well. You want ghosts? Tori picked another haunted castle, this time in the UK, Chillingham Castle. This 12th century monastery turned castle is one of the most haunted castles in the world. This was the opera house that spurred the Phantom of the Opera novel. Krys also covers the Rue de Chantres and its gruesome story. Cue some poor money handling and the property was then sent through a series of owners till it's current iteration as a restaurant today. And what have we learned about old houses that have changed hands many times? You want ghosts…you know the rest. Tori tells a story she has been hinting about for months at this point, The Battle of Sharpsburg, otherwise known as Antietam. This was the single most bloody one day battle of the Civil War and opened the door for Lincoln to enact the Emancipation Proclamation. This battle was absolutely brutal and was technically a draw but it was the battle that sent Gen Robert E Lee hightailing it back down South. Krys skips the spooky stuff this year but makes Tori squee with the Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death. These were teaching tools made by Frances Glessner Lee to teach forensics. This lady was the shit and the Patron Saint of Policemen or the Mother of Forensics. The Nutshells debuted in 1943 and were saved by a former student. These helped investigators get it right for once. Tori tells the story of the rope swing and how we have a weird tie to a serial killer. Fox Hollow Farm and the tale of Herb Baumeister, the suspected I-70 killer. This man picked up gay men in Indianapolis and brought them to our next of the woods in Carmel. This house confused the fuck out of me, but it had a pool in the basement. He was caught due to his becoming scared of his behavior and agreeing to a search of the property. 11 sets of remains were identified and found on the property. Unfortunately Herb escaped and killed himself in Ontario. FYI, you want ghosts…the house is haunted.  Krys continues with the Gruenwald Historic House in Anderson, IN. This statue is straight out of Doctor Who, literally a weeping angel. This boneyard is apparently the site of an epic chess game with tombstones as well. Krysti starts off with another Central State Hospital but this one is in Kentucky. This is a current psychiatric hospital still  in operation in Anchorage Kentucky. This hospital soon became plagued with the unfortunate problems that seem to haunt  all old psych hospitals, overcrowding, abuse, and inhumane conditions. Cue some patient deaths, abuse investigations, and some shady “treatment” options and eventually the hospital had to change it's ways, somewhat… Eventually this hospital had to change and the original buildings were demolished. This land became E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park. Apparently some of the former patients remain on these grounds to this day. From a unburied “sauerkraut” cave to small children spirits saying “mommy” this is still a spooky place to visit. Tori heads north from there to Cleveland Ohio and the Hans Tiedemann House a.k.a Franklin Castle. As one of the “most haunted places in America” this locale manages to end up on most haunted house lists out there. This home to the Tiedemann family saw loads of death within the first five years of it being built. After several deaths Hans sold his Victorian “castle” to the German Socialist Party in 1913. Cue some spy stories, Nazi tunnels, and bootleg booze, this was owned by the German Socialist Party until James Romano bought it in 1968. Welcome back to the shit show! Krys covers the story of Muscatatuck Developmental Center. While this is not a fun story, it is a story that needs to be told. This was originally called the Indiana Farm Colony for the Feeble Minded Youth (their words, not ours) and proceeded to practice eugenics on this “class” of people. Way to go Indiana… This was the home for folks with lower IQs  and did give them jobs as well. Cue a good staff and better ways to help folks, and part of the population at Muscatatuck was “happy” at their home. The eugenics seemed to be sidelined due to WWII (wonder why) but still went on way too long. Cue some abuse allegations and losing their Medicare funding, Muscatatuck closed. Stories like this are important to tell just for the sheer fact that we need to know how to do better for our fellow people. Tori covers the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery in Seattle Washington. The Grand Army of the Republic was a fraternal order of Civil War veterans. There were at least five cemeteries of the same name in several different states. These cemeteries were the final resting place for Civil War vets and the one in Seattle seems to be the home to the restless dead or at least echoes of them. Krysti starts us off with the Culbertson Mansion in New Albany Indiana. This mansion was built by William Culbertson in 1867. By 1870 William was the second most wealthy man in Indiana. He lived in the house with several of his wives and at least three of his children were raised there. The amount of spooky stuff at this locale is substantial, doors opening and closing, lights on and off, menacing feelings, and of course EVPs. Tori brings up the rear with what you may ask? Cemeteries and not just cemeteries but a whole town that was started as a necropolis. Yes folks, a whole city where the dead outnumber the living at 1.5 million to 1800-1600 living souls. Next time you head to San Francisco ask yourself where the cemeteries are. Colma CA would be the answer to that question. With several mass graves due to the relocation from San Francisco, you would think spooky stuff would be the norm of the situation. You want ghosts? Because that's how you get ghosts…Our Sources: colma.ca.gov, cypresslawn.com, unusualplaces.org, ranker.com, kqed.com, onlyinyourstate.com, backpackverse.com, History Goes Bump Podcast Episode 222, YouTube.com Journey Indiana, FearScape Podcast Episode 55, Indianamuseum.org, Gosoin.com, Courier-jounal.com, Wave3.com, Onlyinyourstate.com, Newsandtribune.com (paranormal investigation), Indianahauntedhouses.com, culbertsonmansion.usOur theme music: “Danse Macabre - Busy Strings" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Support our show on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/trendylobotomypodcast Find us at FB/Instagram @TrendyLobotomyPod and at Twitter @TrendyPod as well as our blog trendylobotomypodcast.blogspot.com Support the show

We managed to have a grab bag episode. Tori leads off with Potato Creek State Park and it's stories of ghosts, cemeteries, and of course a premier birding destination. This reclaimed park has the fields of no for Krysti. Ghost kids, unseen hands, and women screaming. Krys follows up the story of the Starr Piano Factory. This factory has seen it's share of famous artists that recorded there. Also a shitload of ghosts. The factory stands to this day, albeit in a way different manner than the original. Switch to Tori telling about the Lincoln Park and the Lincoln Park Zoo and its beginning as the Chicago City Cemetery. This cemetery went the way of most large cemeteries in cities which equals ghosts and bodies under both the park proper and the zoo. Up next we have Krys telling the tale of New Harmony Indiana and it's almost utopian time in Indiana. Can we say cult? This has a long history of educated folks. Tori closes it out with the White Eagle Saloon and Hotel. This rowdy bar has it's fair share of ghosts and strange goings on.Our Sources: in.gov, onlyinyourstate.com, lpzoo.org, choosechicago.com, illinoishauntedhouses.com, chicagohauntings.com, illinoishauntedhouses.com, chicagonow.com, mcmenanmins.com, portlandghosts.com, haintedhouses.com, oregonhauntedhouses.com, ndianamuseum.org, Archive.curbed.com, Socialwelfare.vcu.edu, Legendsofamerica.com, Mrlinfo.org, Publichistory.iupui.edu, Indianahauntedhouses.com, Alwaysrelevantdigital.com, Hauntedplaces.org, Atlasobscura.com, Wikipedia.orgOur theme music: “Danse Macabre - Busy Strings" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Support our show on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/trendylobotomypodcast Find us at FB/Instagram @TrendyLobotomyPod and at Twitter @TrendyPod as well as our blog trendylobotomypodcast.blogspot.com Support the show

Strap in folks, we did another megasode. Although without the boys it could only be .5 designation. Krys leads off with the Witch's Castle AKA Mistletoe Falls in Utica, IN. This location has a long history of being haunted and plenty of stories as to why it's haunted. Unfortunately this location has ties to the terrible story of Shanda Sharer and her nightmarish murder by four teenagers. The Witch's Castle also has stories of murder, familicide, indigenous people, and most of all ghosts. Tori goes from there to tell the story of the battle of Gettysburg and it's mark on the history of the town. Being one of the bloodiest battles on US soil, the town and the land around it remembers to this day. BTW, this place follows the classic example of “you want ghosts, this is how you get ghosts…”Our sources:Newsandtribune.com, Wkdq.com, Hoosierghost.proboadrs.com, Lite987.com, History-records.com, Allthatsinteresting.com, Ranker.com, Wave3.com, Whasil.com, nps.org, civilwarghosts.com, gettsburgpa.gov, celebrategettysburg.com, pennlive.com, gettysburgbattlefieldtours.comOur theme music: “Danse Macabre - Busy Strings"Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/Support our show on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/trendylobotomypodcastFind us at FB/Instagram @TrendyLobotomyPod and at Twitter @TrendyPod as well as our blog trendylobotomypodcast.blogspot.comSupport the show

Tori leads off with the tale of the Overlook Hotel, well actually the two hotels that were both the basis for the hotel made famous by Sotephen King. The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, CO was where Stephen King stayed at and had nightmares in. This hotel has so much history under one roof that picking out all the stories was tough. The Stanley has several tours and most of them tell at least one ghost story if not more. The Timberline Hotel in Mt. Hood, OR was the hotel that was used for the outdoor shots of the exterior of the Overlook Hotel. Unlike the Stanley, the Timberline's haunted history was scarce. Still a beautiful piece of American history and had a cooler back story than the Stanley.  Krysti moves on to the Williamson Memorial Hospital in West Virginia otherwise known as the Old Hospital on College Hill. Shout out to John Cassity, his pictures were what peaked Krys's interest in this story. This hospital has a long history of odd goings on even before the hospital started getting decommissioned. The community around the hospital declined just like the mining did. Throughout the years, this place has been home to tours, ghost hunters, specials, and events. The stories run the gamut from ghostly nurses, horses in the elevator, strange lights, to battery problems in the xray room. Our Sources: stanleyhotel.com, legendsofamerica.com, nightlyspirits.com, tripsavvy.com, usghostadventures.com, timberlinelodge.com, historichotels.org, roadtrippers.com, frightfind.com, Abandonedonline.net, Loganbanner.com, Williamsondailynews.com, Collegehillhospital.com, Theresashauntedhistoryofthetri-state.blogspot.com, Destination Fear- Season 2 Episode 14Support the show

TRIGGER WARNING:The story this week involves sexual abuse, blood drinking, and animal abuse. None if these are explicitly described but listener discretion advised..Krys leads off with the Murray Kentucky Vampire Clan, which Tori immediately freaks out because she remembers the story. Rod Ferrell was raised in a very messed up environment but his mother played into that immensely. In the 90s vampires were all the rage and some folks took it too far. While we are not ones to yuck someone's yum, these folks took Vampire the Masquerade or an approximation of waaaaaayyyyy too far. From animal abuse to murder to police chases, these kids took it too far. Spawning terrible b movies in the process and giving gamers a bad name. Rod Ferrell is the douche canoe of Kentucky. Tori follows up with Lemp Mansion. American Hauntings get their props for source material for this one. The Lemp family was a big money brewer in St. Louis and left their mark on the city, This family seemed to collect tragedy and seemed to leave ghosts in response. The Lemp Mansion stands still to this day as a restaurant and inn. Complete with tours and perhaps some Ghostbusters-esque shenanigans from the resident spirits. Our Sources: Weird Kentucky, Beargrassthunder.com, Wkms.com, oxygen.com, Imdb.com, Tourmurray.com, Crimesandconsequences.com, Hillbilly Horror Stories: Episode 187: Kentucky Vampires, Morbid Episode 17: Rod Fereel “The Vampire Cult Killer” AKA Turbo Douche,YouTube.com Kentucky Teenage Vampire - Real Stories, hauntedrooms.com, American Hauntings Podcast Season 2 Eps 19-24, legendsofamerica.com, travelthruhistory.com, lempmansion.com Our theme music: “Danse Macabre - Busy Strings"Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/Support our show on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/trendylobotomypodcastFind us at FB/Instagram @TrendyLobotomyPod and at Twitter @TrendyPod as well as our blog trendylobotomypodcast.blogspot.comSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/trendylobotomypodcast?fan_landing=true)
