From having her ankles whipped in the training room to extreme emotional pressure and financial stress, this is an unforgettable story that has not been told previously in this depth and with such honesty and openness. This is a side of Joanne Clifton that you have likely never heard before. In the first boobingit podcast episode of 2022, I sit down with Izzy Judd to talk about her three very different breastfeeding experiences. Izzy is a mama of three, author and the wife of Harry Judd from the band McFly. You may also know Izzy as the violinist with the electric string quartet Escala, who took part in Britain's Got Talent in 2008. Having recently given birth to her third child, Lockie, Izzy is in the depths of the newborn phase and she goes into details about the ups and downs of breastfeeding the third time around. We also look back on her pregnancy and breastfeeding experiences with her oldest two children, Lola and Kit, who were born just a year apart. Izzy is the first to admit breastfeeding has never been an easy journey for her to tread, having encountered multiple issues, including tongue ties, poor latches, and recurrent mastitis. She speaks openly about how breastfeeding can be a more complex task with older children around and how she's always tried her best to make it work – whether exclusively breastfeeding or combination feeding. Thank you to Ardo medical Ltd for sponsoring this episode of the boobingit podcast.
Listen as Annie and Wendy try and play it cool as Harry Judd appears wet and er, towel-less out of the shower having just arrived back from the McFly tour. Aside from this moderate distraction, they discuss pregnancies, births and making friends when you're famous, with violinist and author, Izzy Judd. Mindfulness is one of those things that I know I should focus more on, and I know it would probably help me get through each day with more of a smile, yet it’s not something I’ve properly explored before. But one of the guests on today’s episode – Izzy Judd – has written a book, Mindfulness For Mums, which for the first time has got me thinking about how I can use mindfulness day to day.I chat to Izzy and her husband, McFly drummer, Harry Judd, about how they incorporate mindfulness into parenting their two children and we also chat about family life, the roles they each play and how they have a pretty equal share in parenting their children. They talk to me about Izzy getting pregnant after a long fertility road (something you can hear more about in an episode from 2017) and Harry shares his experience of their IVF journey. We also touch upon the question of whether to share photos of your kids on social media – something Izzy and Harry have thought a lot about. This episode was recorded back in December 2019, and because so much has changed since then, Izzy and I caught up for a quick chat a couple of weeks back, which you can hear at the end of the episode. She tells me what lockdown has been like for the Judds and we discuss how mindfulness has been helping her through challenging moments. You can follow Izzy on Instagram, you can follow Harry on Instagram and you can buy Izzy’s book Mindfulness For Mums. Not Another Mummy Podcast is brought to you by me, journalist and blogger Alison Perry. Whether you've suffered from fertility problems or not, Izzy Judd's story is one that is bound to touch you - in her book Dare To Dream, published by Penguin, she talks about the emotional journey she went on, with her husband Harry Judd, to conceive their daughter Lola. This was a tough episode for me to record, because as someone who's been through years of secondary infertility, and a recent failed round of IVF, it all felt very close to my heart. But it also felt amazing to be openly chatting about stuff that so many women (and men) go through, yet feel like they can't discuss through a feeling of shame or failure or just feeling like it's a very private matter.Music: Epidemic Sound See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
