On Episode 130 of the Guest Speaker Series, we welcome bassist, producer, and vocalist, Teeba, to the show! After just receiving a Grammy nomination for his production and bass work on Eminem's latest album ‘The Death of Slim Shady', Teeba has been working on music out in Detroit with renowned producer Denaun Porter for some time now. Teeba describes the journey of how he gradually became closer with Denaun over time, which eventually led to a placement on Eminem's song “Fuel” featuring JID. Teeba is no stranger to having his music land on big songs, as his placements include the likes of Nas, DMX, Dave East, and many more. Teeba is also the founder, bassist, and one of the vocalists of the band Harsh Armadillo, who frequently perform throughout venues in New Hampshire, and New England at large. Teeba also discusses his early years being introduced to the Massachusetts music scene, where he started to connect and work frequently with the likes of Jon Glass, Melks, and SK, amongst others. Teeba truly embodies what it means to be a musician, regardless of the doors that have opened for him because of it. Teeba and Mike also reflect on a variety of other topics, including whether AI in music is a good or bad thing, Doechii winning Hip-Hop Album of the Year at the Grammy's, Teeba's incredible journey traveling on a sailboat across the world as a kid, why South Park should be considered one of the best TV shows ever, and so much more. What if Harriet Tubman came back to modern-day America to make a hip-hop album in order to continue her work as an abolitionist? That's exactly the world Bob the Drag Queen creates in their new novel Harriet Tubman: Live in Concert. “It is the most remarkable story in American history,” Bob says of Tubman's life. “Harriet Tubman sees how remarkable African American culture is, what it's become, how hip-hop has saved the nation, saved the world and she wants to take part in it.” In addition to the physical book, the audio experience of the novel is just as enthralling, complete with original music. “A part of Harriet Tubman's story is music. [She] did use music in her work as an abolitionist.” And the music included in the audiobook is “the best music I've ever written. Easily. I am so proud of this book. I cry when I listen to this music.” And true to form, Bob, a past winner of RuPaul's Drag Race, is creating a live show based around the book. “The book really is about freedom and what freedom means to you. We get to define what our freedom is... and in this book, Harriet is trying to help people get free.” Bob spoke with Newsweek's H. Alan Scott about how the book came about how much it would take for him to return to RuPaul's Drag Race. Heads up! There won't be a new episode next week because Joyhdae is busy with “adulting” duties, but don't worry—we've packed this episode with enough laughs and drama to hold you over! This week on Virgo Season, we're addressing the elephant in the room—Joyhdae's unexpected cold sore and her hilarious plea to Mother Nature. After a quick update on the woes of getting older, Ryan shares his latest discovery about Tesla's futuristic reveals, including robo-taxis and humanoid robots, which have tech lovers buzzing. But there's drama—Elon Musk is facing plagiarism accusations, and Tesla's stock tanked right after the event. Is Musk a tech genius, or is this all hype?Next, we recap the 2024 BET Hip-Hop Awards, where Kendrick Lamar stole the show with 8 wins, including Hip-Hop Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for "Not Like Us." Glorilla and Big Boogie rocked the stage with their performance of "Bop!"—easily the best of the night. And then there's Nicki Minaj, whose Pink Friday 2 took home Hip-Hop Album of the Year. But should Megan Thee Stallion's viral hit, as Joyhdae calls it "Watashi Wastar" have taken the crown instead? We dive into the debate.Speaking of hip-hop, J. Cole surprised everyone by dropping "Port Antonio," a response track amid the Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake tension. We discuss whether Cole should have stayed out of it or if his bars are a necessary addition to the conversation. Then we shift gears to some podcast drama: ShxtsNGigs came under fire after failing to defend Black women during a controversial appearance on another show. The backlash has been real, but is their apology enough to regain trust?Things also got heated when TI, Young Dro, and K-Dubb appeared on The Breakfast Club. K-Dubb's laughter during Dro's serious story about addiction led to a tense moment where Dro almost threw hands. We break down why this moment hit hard and the importance of respecting vulnerability. And finally, we talk about the viral story of 8-year-old Zoe, who drove her mom's car to Target for a $400 shopping spree. With the family dog in tow, Zoe's adventure has everyone laughing, but there's also a lesson here—maybe. We're talking pure Black excellence! Plus, Kamala Harris' new opportunity agenda for Black men is stirring conversations, but why are some still leaning toward Trump? We unpack the confusion and debate what's really behind these political divides.----Make sure to like, comment, and subscribe for more hilarious and thought-provoking episodes. After reading over their list, I decided to create this podcast to discuss THEIR list. Tap in and let me know if you agree with their selections. the 25 most important hip hop albums from the 90s AUDIO https://linktr.ee/12kyle YOUTUBE https://youtu.be/LzITnwZW6Js

The Notorious B.I.G. entered adulthood as a crack dealer and left this world as one of the most famous hip-hop stars of all time. He was murdered mysteriously and before that was arrested almost too many times to count. He eventually altered the course of hip-hop with the release of his debut album, Ready To Die, an album that served as a soundtrack of sorts for the highly publicized, dangerous, violent beef between himself and his one-time friend, fellow rapper, Tupac Shakur. But that whole saga almost never happened. Find out what changed the course of Biggie Smalls' life and ultimately led to his untimely demise in part one of The Notorious B.I.G. story.
