On the 65th Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & special guest, Shout It Out Loudcast Hall of Famer, Jeff Trott review the 1993 classic Hip-Hop album by Snoop Doggy Dogg, "Doggystyle." This is ARC's first Hip-Hop album review. The debut album from Snoop Doggy Dogg was highly anticipated after Snoop's appearance on Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" just one year earlier. The album was produced famously by Dr. Dre and was a breakthrough for G Funk style of Hip-Hop. The album features many contributions, including, Dr. Dre, Tha Dogg Pound, The D.O.C., Warren G, Nate Dogg, Daz, Korrupt, Lady Of Rage and more. The album went immediately to #1 US Billboard album charts and went on to become 4x Platinum and eventually selling 11 million albums worldwide. The album is known for the legendary rap skills of Snoop and the beats from Dre, which were revolutionary. The album catapulted Snoop Doggy Dogg into a super stardom celebrity status. As usual the boys breakdown and dissect the tracks and rank the songs. They then rank the album and the album cover against the previous albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew. This was Zeus' pick. It's no secret that hip hop has suffered in recent years. The culture has definitely come a long way but I think it's safe to say that we are in the valley of rhyme right now. We are no where near the peaks that we saw through the 80's, 90's up to the early 2000's.The younger generation has been inundated with mumble rap, grillz and nonsensical lyricism. I've been waiting for the day that some of the older more established wordsmiths make them selves known again. Finally we have that. With new album drops from the likes of Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre with Missionary, the much anticipated follow up to Doggy Style. Redman with his release of Muddy Waters Too and now Wutang going on a final world tour. The teachers have taken control of the class and it's back in session, forcing the culture to take notice.Hip Hop is coming back in a heavy way and I only hope that this younger generation is taking notes. The OG's of rap are putting their stamp on the game again in a big way and it's time for the culture now to recognize what made it so prevalent.Hip Hop is back baby!Hope you enjoy the sesh!Subscribe and visit Tots420.com#hiphop #90shiphop #podcast #comedy #comedypodcast #thoughtsoffthestem

How do you take a classic sex position and make it kinky? On today's show, I'm telling you exactly how. Inspired by the positions chapter in Smart Sex, I'm talking through two specific positions that bring the kink – and another classic that you can spice up with a little power play. First, I'm looking at Cowgirl/Cowboy and talking through its pros, cons, and evolutions to introduce kinky dynamics. Next, I'm talking Doggy Style (or as I like to call it: Rear Entry) and breaking down its inherent kink dynamics and ideas to make it even more exciting. Finally, we're looking at Missionary, which I think we can all agree needs a kinky rebrand. I'll give you ideas to make it more surprising and sexy. In this episode, you'll learn: How to turn classic sex positions into kinky, pleasure-boosting experiences. Why even small tweaks—like tempo and control—can make you kinkier than you think. Before becoming America's weed-smoking darling and Martha Stewart's bestie, Calvin Broadus Jr., known to the world as Snoop Dogg, was a member of the Crips, a notorious LA-based street gang. Prior to his fateful encounter with super-producer Dr. Dre at age 19, Snoop Dogg faced a bleak future, teetering on the brink of prison or death. Born on the tough streets of Long Beach, California, his earliest years were marked by struggle and strife. It's hard to imagine now, but Snoop Dogg's career, one that has cemented his status as a global icon, nearly met a premature end. In September 1993, with his highly anticipated debut album, Doggystyle, poised for release, Snoop was arrested in Los Angeles and accused of being an accessory to murder. If convicted, he faced life in prison. On August 25th, Snoop was behind the wheel of a vehicle involved in a deadly shooting that left 20-year-old Ethiopian immigrant, Philip Woldemariam, dead. The question hanging over Snoop and his entourage was stark: was the shooting self-defense, or cold-blooded murder? The answer would rest with a jury, which held the future of a rap superstar in its hands. Follow Jami on Instagram & TikTok @JamiOnAir where she comments on true crime cases and reality TV! Released on December 13, 2024, through Death Row Records, Aftermath Entertainment, and Interscope Records, this album marks a significant reunion since their seminal work 'Doggystyle' in 1993, which shaped the West Coast rap scene.Analytic Dreamz discusses the album's 15 tracks, emphasizing the eclectic mix of collaborations that span genres, including singles like "Gorgeous" featuring Jhené Aiko, which peaked at No. 26 on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, alongside other tracks like "Outta da Blue" with Alus and "Another Part of Me" featuring Sting. The segment outlines notable collaborations with artists such as BJ the Chicago Kid, Jelly Roll, Method Man, Eminem, 50 Cent, and even Tom Petty, showcasing how 'Missionary' blends rap with elements of soul, rock, and Middle Eastern music. Innovative samples, including The Police's "Message in a Bottle" in "Another Part of Me" and Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner" in "Sticcy Situation," are highlighted as creative touchpoints.Analytic Dreamz explores Dr. Dre's production approach, where he treats Snoop's voice as an "instrument," leading to a G-Funk sound that's both classic and modern. Snoop's lyrical maturity at 53 is a focal point, balancing his iconic "gangsta" persona with thoughtful content, all underpinned by diverse musical dynamics like piano hooks, brass sections, and string arrangements. The cultural and historical context of 'Missionary' is analyzed, presenting it as a sequel to 'Doggystyle' and a celebration of their influence over three decades. The album's themes of nostalgia mixed with innovation aim at a broad appeal across generations, with its cross-genre collaborations breaking traditional hip-hop boundaries.Promotion efforts are covered, including social media teasers like previews of "Gunz N Smoke" and strategic appearances linked to Snoop's business ventures. 50 Cent's role in marketing through humor and social media is noted as pivotal. The reception and impact of 'Missionary' are discussed, positioning it as a "cultural moment" with critical acclaim for tracks like "Hard Knocks" and "Pressure." Analytic Dreamz also reflects on how this album signifies broader trends in music towards genre blending and challenging stylistic norms. In summary, 'Missionary' is described as a landmark release that reaffirms Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre's enduring legacy in hip-hop, offering listeners a blend of nostalgia and fresh creativity in 2024.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/analytic-dreamz-notorious-mass-effect/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
