They also discuss the promotional efforts that were planned to integrate The Muppets into Disneyland for its 35th anniversary.Despite the deal falling through, the hosts reimagine what could have been, designing a new Muppet-themed ride that incorporates thrilling elements and interactive experiences. They discuss how the ride would fit into the existing park layout and bring the charm and chaos of The Muppets to life.Tune in for a nostalgic and imaginative look at a piece of Disney history that almost was, complete with their unique "Idiot" spin. Welcome to Tulsa Talks presented by Tulsa Regional Chamber. I'm your host Tim Landes. On this episode we're talking puppets and the fun of being creative with Emmy winner David Bizzaro. The conversation begins with Bizzaro reflecting on living in New York City when COVID-19 began (nearly three years ago) and when and why he relocated to Tulsa. The first-generation American Latinx actor discusses how he got into the world of puppetry about a decade ago and how it led him to Sesame Street Studio. Bizzaro takes listeners inside the studio shop and shares experiences as a puppet wrangler that earned him an Emmy for his work during Sesame Street's 50th Anniversary. He also shares insights into his creative process and what he's learned about art and creativity throughout his career, including a stint working for The Flaming Lips. He also talks about his latest work on the M&M's ad campaign and on the hit Netflix series “Waffles + Mochi's Restaurant," which is produced by and stars Michelle Obama. This week Lucé and Cozi discuss the oldest film on the podcast to date, Charlie Chaplin’s 1931 tender slapstick romcom, City Lights. Made well after talkies took over Hollywood, this silent picture took 3 years to make and holds the world record for most takes of a single scene. Lucé adores Chaplin’s painstaking comedic timing and commitment to perfectionism. Cozi can relate but wonders if he has the discipline to watch silent films. Will she be able to convince him, and you, to spend some time with the Little Tramp? Also discussed in this episode: Wall-E, Blues Clues, The Red Balloon, Steamboat Bill Jr., Jim Henson Studios, and boxing kangaroos. Halle Stanford, President of Television for The Jim Henson Company (PRNewsfoto/The Jim Henson Company) Three years ago I was lucky enough to be invited onto the Jim Henson Studios lot in Hollywood to interview executive producer Halle Stanford. Little did I know then how much of an impact she would have on my life. We hit it off immediately because Halle's joy is contagious and she genuinely loves what she does, just like me! Peter Brooke, Creative Supervisor of the Jim Henson Creature Shop and Aughra. She introduced me to several puppeteers who were working on "Splash and Bubbles" while I was there. It was so cool to see how Henson Co. incorporates new technology with the classic art form of puppeteering. A few months later she also connected me with the incredible creators of Indie Shakes - LA's Independent Shakespeare Festival. I had no idea such a thing existed in LA. Now I look forward to every summer because it means I can support them and go see their shows. And one of the coolest things Halle did was take me to the Jim Henson Creature Shop to see the puppets from Netflix's "The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance." For several hours I walked through each area where artists were molding, shaping, painting, and crafting each character from the show. I took dozens of pictures of the process which I recently shared on NBC LA along with a live look inside the Shop. I've been holding onto these pictures for 2 years and I am so excited to finally share them! Which leads me to now. I got to sit down with Halle again to talk about this brilliant show she's been working on for years, long before I got a sneak peek. She took time out of her busy show promotion schedule to sit down with me and talk about the powerful female characters in "Age of Resistance." We also talked about how Henson Company and Netflix worked together to maintain Jim Henson and Frank Oz' original vision while using modern technology. "The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance" is streaming now on Netflix and fans have been very vocal in their support of the show. Some are already calling for a season two. Listen to this episode to find out what Halle has to say about that possibility. And you can follow the Jim Henson Company on Facebook and Instagram to see what other projects they are working on next.
On this episode of Reel World: Rewind: Josh is joined by Reel World staff member David Atwell to talk about the 2005 movie, MirrorMask. A UK-based movie produced by Jim Henson Studios, MirrorMask was written by renowned comic book writer and author Neil Gaiman and directed by comic book artist and illustrator Dave McKean. While there might be more famous movies about similar themes, Gaiman and McKean's movie dives into intriguing concepts of handling complex emotions, as well as being artistically bold and visually arresting. David and Josh talk about how the movie addresses grief, growing up, as well as comparing the movie to other fantasy movies featuring a female protagonist like Labyrinth, The Wizard of Oz, and Pan's Labyrinth. Plus, there is a deeper discussion into how stories handle pain and grief and how biblical narratives do. The movie has no ties to any new releases, but David's pick of a movie was really great and led to some great discussion on this month's Rewind!
In today's episode, Tracey and Scott begin their coverage of their recent trip to Southern California. They will cover the first two days of the Adventures by Disney - Backstage Magic tour they took. Stops on these days include the Hollywood and Highland area, the Jim Henson Studios and the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round. They also present this month's Disney Renaissance segment with a discussion of the legacy of the 1997 animated classic Hercules. Then they wrap up the show with a call over to the Main Street Cinema and a look ahead at future episodes. Welcome to Disney, Indiana!

This week's episode of the podcast is a special episode, recorded live on the steps of the old Charlie Chaplin studios in Hollywood! Christopher James and Jesse Knight join me on the steps of the old Chaplin Studios, now the Jim Henson Studios, to talk about Charlie Chaplin and his films. Jesse and I had discussed recording an episode like this for a while, and with Christopher hosting the "In Movie Nerds We Trust" podcast, we figured this would be the perfect time for a mashup episode. In the episode we talked about the great impact that Charlie Chaplin's films had on us as kids and how it first helped grow our love for film and comedy. We talked about how Chaplin's films manage to still relate to events today, as well as the culture impact of his time, his filmmaking process, some of the iconic figures that visited the Chaplin Studios, Chaplin's legacy and more. I'm so glad that we were finally able to record this episode on the steps on the Chaplin Studios. Many people don't know that Jesse is a huge Chaplin fan, and being here to talk Chaplin films was really special for Jesse. Chaplin's films have meant a lot to all of us and we would encourage all of you listening to check out the massive collection of Charlie Chaplin's work. Enjoy the episode!
