It's the X-Men as most kids hadn't seen them before at the dawn of the 21st Century, as teenagers! With the Fox cartoon so fresh in people's minds, this was a way to get a new angle on these now pretty well-known characters, and a match made in heaven for the youth market-oriented WB Network. But as one of the "middle child" adaptations of this franchise, it's not very prominent today. Does it still hold up? Justin Toner joins us to find out!

Much loved children's author, Adrian Beck shares the inspiration for his children's stories, how he goes about the process of setting up a story, and how they're turned into amazing books for kids. Today's guest says he is not a spy. However, a spy would say that, wouldn't they? Despite this, our guest shares some awesome advice on writing books, how to gather story ideas, and how to put them together. He is actually the author of such books as Derek Dool, Alien Zoo, Kick it to Nick, Co-author of Little Legends and the picture book author of Stop the Dad Jokes and The Unfunny Bunny. He is a TV Producer who has worked on such shows as The Logies, Carols by Candlelight, Prank Patrol, and Kids WB. But he's not a spy! However, he has written a book about a spy. Some months later his studio duties were expanded to include an original comics title, DYNAMO JOE, a giant-robot series which he created and penciled. From there Doug went off in many other directions as a freelancer: STARBLAZERS (for Comico), PLASTIC MAN and MANHUNTER (for DC Comics), TOXIC AVENGER and WHAT THE--?! (for Marvel), ROGER RABBIT (for Disney Comics), TALES OF THE TMNT (for Mirage Comics), and STUPID (for Image Comics), among others. It was in 1993 that Rice changed careers and got into TV animation – again, with no formal training at all.   Startoons Studio in the south suburbs of Chicago was a beehive of activity for Warner Bros. weekday programming, which found Doug storyboarding and doing background layouts for “Steven Spielberg presents The Animaniacs” which, in turn, led to him being handed an Emmy certificate and ‘letter-of-congratulations' from the head of KidsWB animation a little over two years after he started. After the studio folded in the summer of 2001, Rice began work on a two-fisted/pulp-style adventure novel, as a sort of hobby between freelance jobs. The book, SQUADRON, is currently in publication in soft and hard volumes designed by the author.
