"If you are standing in front of a judge, he already hates you."This week, the kids, and the ladies, go crazy for Cuphead. The Cuphead Show gets a sleepy, but enthusiastic thumbs up in a podcast split evenly between show review and parenting advice, which is a much needed break after last week's Caillou episode. Laura leads the show off with a new topic: flow parenting, which she first learned about in an article about personal trainer Sophie Guidolin. Kara wants to know if it's the type of flow she's familiar with that shows up monthly and splits after 3-4 days. Well played. Flow parenting is an arrangement where the children have the license to "flow" back and forth between their parent's homes as they see fit. As a child therapist, Laura is intrigued by the positive benefits this could have on children undergoing the strain of a divorce. Having been through the child custody process, Kara shares her personal experience.Kara discusses what she learned during the custody court process and noted quite a few parallels between what was recommended and what is described in the article on flow parenting. Most importantly, mutual respect between co-parents is the secret to moving forward as blended family. On to The Cuphead Show! The ladies agree that it's a binge-able one-season watch with twelve 15- minute episodes released thus far. The premises all start with the fast-paced, hijinks-heavy misadventures of the impulsive Cuphead and his more cautious but easily persuaded twin brother, Mugman. The show gives off clear Looney Tunes vibes from the mid-Atlantic accent of the floppy rubber-hose animated characters, to the overall 1930s aesthetic. Both ladies agree that Wayne Brady does an excellent job as King Dice. Kara is impressed with the casting of the voice actors here. She particularly enjoys Chalice, and characters with the mid-Atlantic accent. She even breaks out her own for the listener's entertainment. The ladies agree that the show is friendly for all ages and that even the underworld and ghost characters take a non-spooky approach. If you seek educational value for your children, The Cuphead Show is not the place to turn, as it offers pure entertainment value. Both moms have parenting confessions to make. Kara confesses that her son was shocked and disappointed when he caught her sleeping midway through one of the cartoons. Laura describes the show's title videogame as "rage-inducingly difficult." Her young daughter had to tell her to take a break and get a snack during a playthrough. She helpfully explains that frustration is simply stress chemicals clouding your rational thinking, which is why her daughter was right. This is why stepping away from a stressor and coming back to it after your system has processed the chemicals is effective. Kara and Laura agree that your kids SHOULD watch The Cuphead Show and are looking forward to the next season of this children's show.If you enjoyed this podcast, please be sure to subscribe and leave a review on your favorite platform. Wii U and 3DS eShop Closure Reactions This week on the NXpress Nintendo Podcast, Cameron Daxon, Marc Kaliroff, and Campbell Gill pour one out for the end of an era. With Nintendo having recently announced the effective end of the Wii U and 3DS eShops, the hosts open the show by taking some time to reflect on the long-term impact of this decision: not only does this hammer the final nail in the coffin of Nintendo's ill-fated last generation, but it also spells the end of the long-running Virtual Console. Will Switch Online ever fill the VC-shaped hole in our hearts? At least Nintendo provided a neat site to recall your Wii U and 3DS memories… Next up, Marc gives the hosts a rundown of The Cuphead Show! and its disappointing adaptation of the Cuphead universe for the silver screen. Its animation may be beautiful, but it seems like not even Wayne Brady as King Dice can save this show and its crippling lack of substance. Lastly, the hosts close things out with a good old-fashioned indie spotlight on Infernax, a brutal yet infectiously fun retro action platformer, and Ocean's Heart, a Link to the Past-esque adventure game that's sure to scratch that Zelda itch. With some impressions of the Switch port of Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments thrown in for good measure, the show ends with a well-rounded spotlight indeed! Dano's music infuses modern folk, post rock, and groove oriented rhythms with poetic lyrics creating a unique brand of conscious music that uplifts and inspires. Born and raised in the Buffalo suburb of Tonawanda, Dano's role models were The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, David Bowie, Simon and Garfunkel. As a youth during 70's, Dano began leading the band Odysseus at the age of 13, playing guitar and singing at school events and neighborhood parties. At 16 years of age he switched to bass and joined the band Crossroads. He was immediately thrust into the Buffalo music scene playing some of the biggest venues and supporting international touring bands such as Judas Priest, Ambrosia, John Cougar Mellencamp, Modern English, Spirit, as well as many others. After a lineup change Crossroads would become the Beez and Dano would leave to start The Western Voice and his song writing was now front and center. With The Western Voice there was label interest from A&M records as well as production interest from Mitch Easter and the band began traveling extensively, often playing CBGB's and the Peppermint Lounge in NYC. Dano moved to NYC to further pursue his music career starting the band Zider Zee and playing regularly in the Greenwich Village scene. Hi. This is a demo disc I found lurking in a forgotten corner where it has languished for twenty years. I met the singer/lead guitarist Paul Bellamy in 1998 at an art class. Well, we should all try something we're crap at. In my case I have an unlimited choice... These tracks are not for the faint-hearted so I left them at full volume for you to enjoy. Get out the air guitar and stomp to KING DICE (NOT the American band, who must have stolen the name. Can't trust anybody. Leave a name lying around for twenty years and someone will take it... I don't know what the world is coming to.) Bill
