It's not every episode that you get to say that ass eating viruses and LGBTQ dinosaurs were a thing, but tonight we got to explore those points of news worthy interest. Lots was covered besides that. Russia was subject to a horrible terrorist attack, we work through what may or may not have happened. At the time of recording, little was known, but there were obviously some front runners who might have cued it up. Apple was taken on by the DOJ in an anti-trust suit. Don Lemon got slapped around by Elon. We talk about some serious solar flares that were coming at the earth and a very strange happening on the 8th of April. Government entities are making a lot out of the ecplipse coming next month, and we try to make sense of it. Jefe gave us a movie review for the new Ghostbusters and we talk happy countries. On this episode of Now that's Significant, a market research podcast, host, Michael Howard, the head of marketing at Infotools is joined by Dan Wasserman, Chief Operating Officer at KJT. KJT is a full-service, strategic market research and consulting firm that is focused on the healthcare industry. Dan has worn many hats at KJT for the past 13 years. He has run a research team, focused on both market research as well as health outcomes research, and has served as an operations leader, overseeing KJT's information security management, research compliance, research operations, analytics, and general business operations. He has led the implementation for professional services automation, and more recently has gotten deep into the rise of generative AI. He's presented at IIEX.AI and also developed a prompt engineering course available to anyone in the insights industry. In this episode, we talked about Dan's experience with generative AI in market research, with a focus on prompting. Themes that arose in the conversation included: > How different prompting generative AI tools is to your standard Google searches. > Advice on how to prompt well, in order to get the best out of the large language models. > Why prompt 'engineering' sounds technical and over many people's heads, but why it actually is relatively straight forward when you know the ins and outs. > The need for high-quality data with LLMs as well as having a good combination of primary and secondary data. > Confidence levels with what is presented by generative AI platforms and having a level of explainability - understanding how the AI arrived at its output. > Some insight into Dan's 2-hour, asynchronous prompt course that he wrote. Click here for the link to the prompt course. We trust you enjoy this episode. Please feel free to leave a review or share this with others. *** Infotools Harmoni is a fit-for-purpose market research analysis, visualization, and reporting platform that gives the world's leading brands the tools they need to better understand their consumers, customers, organization, and market.

Chris, Kyle and Dana recap Day 7 of track and field at the Olympics which was highlighted by Katie Nageotte's gold medal in the women's pole vault, where she became just the third woman to win gold in the event at the Games. This was a true moment of redemption as she missed the 2016 Olympics, switched coaches and took a leap of faith to continue within the sport. She gets the Magical Performance of the Day honors. The men's 400 meter final was not as delightful for U.S. fans as Michael Cherry ran a personal best for fourth place and Michael Norman took fifth but Team USA was shut out of the medals for just the third time in history. We beg the question: Is the United States (particularly the men) having a bad Olympics and what's the possible cause. Also discussed in this episode: – If you're Damian Warner and you finally win gold in the decathlon after three Olympic cycles, do you keep going? – We still need a healthy and full-on KJT vs. Thiam heptathlon rivalry – Cole Hocker looked really good in the men's semifinals of the 1,500 meters; Reigning Olympic champion Matthew Centrowitz gets eliminated – Gutsiest performance of the day: Nick Willis runs his fastest time in four years in the semifinals of his fifth Olympics at 38 years old – A brief women's marathon preview + Much More TUNE IN AND LISTEN TO TORCH TALK WITH CHRIS, KYLE AND DANA. Our daily podcast covering the Olympics is presented by Hayward Magic. Hayward Magic is a really unique and fresh editorial channel on IG that captures the magic and intensity of track & field. 22 Voices is a new podcast series brought to you by the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, telling the stories of sporting stars and cultural trailblazers as the countdown to the Games continues. Our guest today needs just three letters by way of introduction – KJT. Katarina Johnson-Thompson has become a household name as a world-beating heptathlete, continuing a golden legacy started by Denise Lewis and Jessica Ennis Hill. In this episode, KJT talks about recovering well from injury, her hopes for the Tokyo Olympics, how many more years she plans to compete for, why she moved to France, her fond memories of competing in Birmingham (and the night out she had there after winning world indoor gold in 2018!), and looking forward to competing in front of home crowds - and a full stadium - at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. On this episode of Make It Reign, Josh talks to Olympic athlete and World Champion, Katarina Johnson-Thompson. Katarina - or KJT as she is known to her fans - talks candidly about how she was, “very close” to quitting athletics after what was deemed a “public failure” at the Rio 2016 Olympics where she finished sixth, whilst others tipped her for a gold medal. Having struggled with self-confidence, public pressure and injuries Katarina completely changed her life - including working with a psychologist - in order to change her mindset and put her into winning form. Now the reigning World Champion in the Heptathlon - making her the world’s best all round female athletics athlete - Katarina opens up about the Tokyo Olympics, how body image affected her early career and the racist microaggressions she has faced throughout her life. Open and honest conversations are key to making it reign and Katarina’s chat is a powerful account of how we need to define success and failure on our own terms and how we all have the power to switch up our mindset and achieve our dreams - whatever they may be. If you are lacking motivation right now - let’s face it, we all are - then this is the conversation you NEED to listen to. You can follow Josh on social media across @joshsmithhosts and don't forget to subscribe, follow, rate and comment if you loved the episode as we love to hear from you, queens! Josh will be back to Make it Reign with another Queen next time!
Jane went out to New York for what Nike were calling its 'Olympic Summit' but it turned out to be the global alphafly launch, so armed with her microphone she recorded this special episode, interviewing Tony Bignell, VP of footwear innovation and finding out what the latest ruling from World Athletics really means in relation to this shoe, what Nike are doing to meet the new rules and the greater implications to the sport. She then caught up with KJT and Dina Asher-Smith to discuss their preparation for Tokyo 2020.This was recorded at a live event so the audio in places is patchy. This special has not been sponsored by Nike. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
In which Stefan and Tom are joined by Simon Matthews to talk about the big sporting events of 2019 including, England winning the cricket World Cup, South Africa winning the rugby World Cup, Dina Asher-Smith and KJT winning at the World Championships, and Doddie Weir being an utter inspiration. Also, is darts or F1 really a sport? Apparently not...
Gold again for Great Britain as Katerina Johnson-Thompson breaks Jess Ennis-Hill's British record to win World Championship Hepthalon title!

Being a heptathlete (we imagine; we’re hardly speaking from experience here at Backstraight HQ…) requires not only explosiveness, endurance, technical finesse, and sublime co ordination, but nerves of absolute steel. The psychological challenges of the event have proven a stumbling block for many physically-gifted athletes, and to be able to reach into your bag of tricks and deliver a third round clearance, lifetime best, or gutsy 800 metres at the end of two gruelling days of competition requires the mentality of a supreme competitor. Niamh Emerson, from what we’ve seen so far, is one of those. Bronze at her first major senior championships, gold in Tampere after the most dramatic of 800 metres, and silver behind KJT with the best pentathlon performance ever executed by a teenager: we have grown accustomed to this athlete bringing her A-game every time. Great Britain’s heptathlon heritage is as rich as they come - Mary Rand, Mary Peters, Judy Simpson, Denise Lewis, Kelly Sotherton, Jess Ennis-Hill, and Katarina Johnson Thompson - and it seems increasingly evident that Emerson’s name is destined to join that illustrious roster. A knee tendon tear in Gotzis might have brought her season to an abrupt halt, but her outlook is remarkably positive, with Tokyo drawing ever-closer, and this pause in her meteoric ascent the perfect opportunity to reflect upon her career so far. Friendships with Jess and Kat, working on her explosive power whilst maintaining that fantastic 800 metres of hers, and how on earth she always manages to find that extra centimetre when the pressure’s on: we hope you enjoy this latest interview special. Here’s a seven-event challenge of your own, should you choose: listen to this episode, give it a share to spread the Emerson love, review the Backstraight Boys (& Girl) podcast, let us know your thoughts (@BackstraightB & @Claire_GThomas), follow us on Instagram (@BackstraightBoysPodcast), join our Fantasy DL League (PIN: 5533292), and - finally - just keep being the awesome listeners that you already are x
The 2nd edition of the European Games is just weeks away. Team GB has named its team for the event in Minsk. Over 100 athletes from these shores will take part. The biggest name in the team is Jason Kenny, whilst Olympic medallists including Katy Marchant and Sally Conway will also take part. In total over 4000 athletes will take part from 50 countries across 10 days in 200 different medal events. But, where does the event stand as far as the British public is concerned?2018 was a fantastic breakthrough year for Katarina Johnson-Thompson with World, European and Commonwealth medals. 2019 has started well with a personal best points total in Gotzis. We ask if KJT is now the best hope of a gold medal in Doha at the World Championship later this year. We compare her chances with those of Laura Muir and Dina Asher-Smith and examine Johnson-Thompson's challenge from Nafi Thiam - the reigning World and Olympic Champion. The World Cup is also imminent and the Lionesses will travel to France with high hopes of success after reaching the semi-finals four years ago. We look at the debate around equal pay for men and women footballers and equal opportunities for female coaches and managers. Anything but Footy will be talking footy this summer as we track England's progress.Boxing will take its place at Tokyo 2020 but who will organise the competition? The IOC has serious concerns about the AIBA over many and varied issues and now needs to find anew body to take over the running of the Olympic programme. In our round up, there is news of sailing, rowing, canoeing, modern pentathlon, ice hockey, skiing, golf and rugby sevens. All sort's been going on at Backstraight HQ the last few days: Bayo's been kicking himself, out in Rio for the Carnival, getting his time zones muddled up and missing the Glaswegian athletics action he's so desperate to live stream; Jody's been catching up with Nicola Sanders, she of indoor 400m royalty, and utterly bonkers splits; Claire's been having a quarter-life crisis, having spent 15 minutes with some of Team GB's brightest young talents, and realising - after hearing Amber Anning discussing her revision timetabling - that she's actually getting on these days; and Gabby and Will, along for the journalising ride, have been wondering just how this podcast landed media accreditation, given that at least 30% of athletes' names aren't anywhere to be found, come recording time. If Jody managed to correctly pronounce 'Sidorova' once over the course of the Championships, Claire will get a gorilla tattoo, a la Captain Fantastic, Guy Learmonth...We spoke to KJT about how she's finally getting to grips with the heptathlon (rather than just being exceptional at a few events). We heard from the dramatic, slow-mo falling horse's mouth about Niamh Emerson's desperate lunge for the line. We savoured Jakob's audacious brilliance, Laura's electric turn of pace, and Tamberi's mesmeric charisma. We took a selfie with Naomi Ogbeta, Jemma Reekie, Amber, and Niamh. We marvelled at Karsten's raw ability. We played a round of 'Aye or Gonnae No' (doesn't quite work in Claire's accent, in case you were wondering).Gracious - it's been fun. To keep you from overindulging, we've split our weekend up North into two parts. Here's the first.Enjoy it? Let us know: @BackstraightB & @Claire_GThomas
2018 was a doozy. A vintage year. Mondo, Dina, Eliud, Kevin, Laura, Abderrahman, Nafi, Niamh: we could list athletes until 2020 rolls around, but we've just received our accreditation for European Indoors in March, and are rather excited to crack on with covering that for you instead. It was a year in which 6.69 didn't even get you on the women's long jump podium at the British Championships; in which we saw KJT beam - yes, beam! - after a shot put in a major heptathlon; in which you could win double European gold and then be unable to purchase yourself a celebratory beer, because you're an underage, 17-year-old prodigy. How to tackle such a sumptuous 12 months of athletics? With Tom Bosworth, pastries, and mimosas, of course. We sat down with the Commonwealth silver medallist to discuss everything: from the highs of Birmingham and Berlin, to the lows of the Diamond League scheduling and Callum Hawkins' Gold Coast collapse; why Caster is our female athlete of the year; and to whom we would give this year's Wooden Spoon Award. It was lots of fun, and we hope it prompts a fond look back over a seriously good year of track and field your end. Leave us a review, share this episode with all your friends and family, and get in touch: @BackstraightB, @Claire_GThomas, and @TomBosworth.
Imagine being a teenager and becoming a double European Champion in 24 hours. Contemplate how it would feel to vault 6.05 just a year after being legally able to buy glue in the UK. For a second, ponder reaching a continental final in your Senior GB debut. Berlin was brilliant, but it didn't half leave us pondering our comparatively useless adolescents. Jakob, Mondo, Imani, Naomi, Laviai: the future of the sport is bright. Smile at Beth Dobbin's incredulity at her own, mesmerising, breakthrough year; celebrate Nathan Douglas' bold medal challenge; and rejoice at Meghan Beesley's hugely-deserved bronze. Feel warm inside at KJT beaming after a 13-metre shot put - laying ghosts to rest and pushing Nafi all the way - and try not to well up as you remember Abele's raw emotion at the end of that 1500 - a race nothing like as gruelling as the preceding years of injury. Sure - you might curse quietly to yourself at reflecting upon the ridiculous scheduling, but don't do that before chuckling at Matt Hudson-Smith's bonkers pacing in that 400m final, applauding Jaz Sawyers' unhesitating generosity towards the athlete who had just knocked her from the podium, and feeling more patriotic than you have in some time upon reliving Dina's imperious, sumptuous, beaming treble. There are all sorts of things you can do to reflect upon Berlin. Us? We recorded a podcast episode, and we hope you enjoy it (and rate, review, and subscribe, as per).
For the first time in thirty episodes, all three of us were at the same meet, with nothing to do but soak up the atmosphere, interview some international stars, and discuss the world of athletics. And, if we do say so ourselves, we've delivered. Morgan Lake, KJT, Laura Muir, Sifan Hassan, Guy Learmonth, Sandra Perkovic, Maria Lasitskene (feat. interpreter), Adam Gemili, and - of course - the man who has catapulted himself into the hearts of British athletics fans, and onto more podiums than you could shake an airline-mislaid bag of pole vault sticks at: Greg Rutherford. We also look back at the Monaco Diamond League, reminisce about some of Millicent Fawcett's finest mile races, and ponder the impending European selections. There have been some lovely reviews recently: thank you ever so much. Prizes to follow in our next, Euro preview, pod. Please keep listening, rating, and tweeting (@BackstraightB & @Claire_GThomas). Enjoy!
